Frustration with extra seat on Southwest

I wouldn't think your size would matter. If you pay for an extra seat, it's no different than someone else paying for a seat.

My question was if anyone has done it, what their experience was and if was worth it if you didn't necessarily need the extra space?

I don' t want to make assumptions here, so I'll ask this question carefully. Has anyone (perhaps the OP) done this that might not be "pooh sized" ?? I think it sounds like a great idea and if I was traveling with just 2 people it would be awesome having an extra seat. I know anytime I can spend some miles to get First Class I do it.

Neither my wife or I are Pooh Sized. We're actually quite small, 5'2" and under 130lbs (well, prior to my pregnancy!) I was wondering if that was part of the reason for the other passenger's confusion. I'm not sure though.

I did call SW customer service and was told to send them something in writing about the experience. They did apologize to me for the flight attendant's comment, but said that I needed to write to them in order to my complaint to be "brought to the appropriate person's attention".
So, I'll send them something off today. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

btw: Next time we fly SW, we are still going to get an extra seat. It really made that much of a positive difference in our flying experience.

Thanks for the insight. It sounds like a great idea if/when I travel without kids. It sure would be nice to have the extra room and its cheaper than first class.
