Frustrated

I'm trying to find a place for us to stay on our March trip to DL. I've gone to 2-3 different websites and looked at their rates and they seem great. I call up the specific hotel and inquire as wether or not that rate is available and they act like I'm crazy. They say no we don't have that rate. I tell them that is what's on their website and I always get the answer of that's incorrect information ma'am. I'm getting rather frustrated. Why do they post these rates if they won't honor them? I can understand if it would just be a general guideline but it's for their specific hotel. Anyone else get the runaround? I get the feeling that I'm going to have to stay in a cardboard box. :( :( :(

Are your plans solid? If so, consider Priceline. Over at www.biddingfortravel.com I've seen people get the Anaheim Marriott and the Westcoast Anaheim for under $40 per night. Both are very close to DL.

I think that's what I'm going to end up doing Robin. I'm going to wait a little bit closer to our travel dates and do so. I've noticed the 3* hotels that are coming up are westcoast, marriott, and hyatt I believe. I think these are the only 3 *'s in the area. Any one of the 3 would work for us. :)

I stayed at the WestCoast Anaheim last September - thanks to Priceline - and it's a very nice hotel.

It could be that the prices you see quoted are for value season. Easter is March 31st next year, and March is a busy month because of spring breaks.

Are you sure you are calling the hotel directly and not a central reservations for a group of hotels such as Ramada etc...?? That happened to me when trying to book a Ramada near Disney. When I called the 1-800 number listed the lady told me they had no such code. When I called the hotel directly they knew exactly what I was talking about and booked the room. I found out later the hotel was a dive, we cancelled and thats when we first booked an onsite at Disney World LOL. Now Im HOOKED!!!!

Get away today would be great but they won't have their rates for 2002 until Oct. At least that's what they said when I called them. :(

I did have some luck later this afternoon. I called directly to InnSuites in Buena Park. I asked them about their weekly rates. The guy answering the phones said they didn't have weekly rates, then hung up on me. I called back again. I was put on hold immediately. Got disconnected while on hold. (Coincidently the hold message said to ask about our weekly rates  ) This happened a third time and the fourth time I called I asked for a supervisor. The gentleman on the phone said that his sup wasn't there. I asked for a # for complaints. He rattled off a number and promptly hung up. At this point I was so fed up and irritated I didn't want anything to do with this hotel. About an hour later I decided to call the # he gave me. It was their central reservation #. I voiced my concern about the desk clerk and the lady on the other end appologized profusely. I then asked her what their weekly rates were. She put me on hold for a minute and then came back with some great news. A 2 bedroom executive suite with a kitchenette would be 299.95 for a week. I was thrilled. It ended up being about $42 a night. Which is great since this room goes for $100 a night. She gave me a confirmation # and said that she would also mail the confirmation info to me. I'm just hoping the desk clerk I spoke with won't be there when we are. I also hope I won't have a problem with my reservation since the guy said they don't have weekly rates. So in all, I think I've found a good place to stay at. I guess I just ran into someone who was having a very bad day.

UPDATE: I just called the hotel directly and asked the very nice lady on the phone if she would please confirm my reservation. I gave her my confirmation # and everything is in there correctly. Even the price. I'm excited now!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I work in revenue management at a casino-resort in Las Vegas, and even though I'm in this crazy business I'm frustrated too!! I understand that a hotel may have a need to meet budget numbers for a particular market segment so they offer a special rate to get heads in the beds, meet their numbers and make some executive happy. But I got such a run-around today . . .

I called the toll free number on the back of the Disney Club card to make a ressie for a last minute trip to Disneyland for tommorrow. A recording said to call a different toll free number for Anaheim ressies. I waited on hold for 10 mins, only to be told they could only book packages & not hotel only, and they gave me the CRO phone #. All this time I had Travelocity open with a quote of $120/night for the Paradise Pier hotel, and the Disney Club's website open in another browser, with a screen that said "save 10% off hotel rates". I called the CRO, and I was expecting to be quoted $108, 10% off the $120 rate I was looking at. Nope! CM quoted $220 Disney Club rate for Paradise Pier. Needless to say, I booked it on Travelocity.

The CM I spoke with, when I called later to verify that the ressie was in their hotel system, said the rate I got was NEVER booked by their phone agents; it was a special rate exclusive to Travelocity and had to be booked on the internet.

I feel like the $29 I spent for the Disney Club is a waste. I can find WAY better rates on the internet for their own hotel rooms!! If I can't use the Club card at all this weekend I may write a letter and ask for my money back.

BTW, if you ever get the run-around from a res agent at ANY hotel, ask for a supervisor or ask for the hotel's revenue manager. Most hotels have someone who sets rates, establishes packages & special rates, etc and would have knowledge of special rates the hotel is offering. Hope this helps.

For Jlima,
I too found better rates a few months ago for the Grand Californian on Travelscape.com. The Disney Club I've found has saved me a lot of $$ for National rental car twice in the last 6 mos. from LAX and consistant 10% off at disney store and disneystore online. I've basically decided that using it for hotels is worthless.

Many rates on the internet are "Internet Only" rates and you can't get them by calling. Other places, such as HIFS, are very good about lowering rates to the internet rate if you call and ask. The Holiday Inn website is a good resource for checking rates. Also they have holideals, but you might have to be a priority club member. They are only good for the upcoming weekend, but are GREAT rates, and I think you can only get them on the internet, not by calling.
