Frustrated!

Last week I called a TA (I won't mention their name here just yet, but it was one that was mentioned on this boards numerous times along with the AOL boards as having a good reputation) to book a Disney 3 night land/4 night sea cruise for November. I was told to call the next day to get our cabin assignment. I called the next day and was told there was a problem with the Disney computer getting this date straight, so no cabin yet. Called back yesterday. They were still working with Disney to get this straightened out. And again today -- I was told to call back tomorrow. I have checked Disney's site and now that cruise date isn't coming up as an option anymore at this point.

I'm frustrated and just hoping that we have a spot on this cruise. Has this happened to anyone else. I realize we are booking this last minute, but I guess I didn't anticipate a problem like this.

Hoping we don't have to change cruise dates, as this one really worked well with our schedules.

Just venting.

Sorry to hear you've been having a problem. I know it can be frustrating for you not knowing what's going on.

If it were me, I would go directly to the source and call DCL myself regarding the status of my reservation.

Best wishes and have a wonderful time.

I can feel your frustration but maybe you should change your word of choice showing your emotion......that is one that IMO is not appropriate for this board.

It sounds as if the TA is doing what she can to help you out...it is not their fault if there really is a problem with the system.

Also, do not dispair if the date is not showing up on DCL's website...TA's often have a block of rooms available even if DCL is showing sold out. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

MJ -- consider it done. It was 2 a.m. and I was expressing the way I felt at that time. I still pretty much feel that way, but have taken the word out. lol Being new to these message boards I suppose I need to watch my wording more carefully. Sorry if I offended.

Mostly I'm frustrated because they keep telling me to call them back each day. I would think they could at least go out of their way to call me each day to update me on the status.

I purposely didn't mention their name here because I don't want to tarnish any reputations. And maybe this is all "normal" for booking a cruise this late? I don't know -- this is our first time. I will just feel better knowing that we are actually on there.

Like everone else here I just want to go on vacation. Hopefully I will be reporting back here today that we have a cabin.

Now I want to know what word the OP used. ;)

To the OP, if the word was a "bad" word the filters would have caught it or a Mod would have edited the post. :)

lol it wasn't THAT bad. But I removed it.

I agree that is wasn't that bad, but it was not in the spirit of these boards...especially with the warning from the mods last week about being careful with our wording. I am not a prude or anything but I feel it would probably have been removed by the mods eventually anyway.

I thank mom.....for removing it!!! And you did not offend and I do wish you much luck in securing a spot on the cruise you want. I know the feeling of wanting to cruise and being unable to get a specific date/cabin, etc.

If the cruise does not show up on the DCL website, it is either booked or the date may have been pulled for other reasons, such as a private booking, etc. You didn't mention the date, is it close, far away? I wouldn't put the blame on the TA. If they had a room to book for you, they would book it. Don't always rely on a TA or their website to confirm availability on DCL until they have spoken to DCL and confirmed with a deposit or a firm hold with DCL. We learned from our most recent experience that DCL is a hot commodity and the inventory changes hourly, especially as you get close to a sailing. Even the DCL website availability may change each time you enter a different party size. If you are trying to get on a ship that is in the near future, and the availability seems to come and go, my advice is to call DCL direct, find out what the real deal is, book something with them and then switch your reservation to the travel agent if you have other needs.

I'm updating my earlier "frustrated" post. I am happy to say that we finally have a confirmation for our cruise and stateroom. What a relief!! I guess I just had myself worked up last night thinking that this wasn't going to happen for us.

Now I can book our flight :-)

For the record, the TA was very helpful today and I am satisfied with the help she gave me today in getting confirmation that we are in fact booked on the cruise we want.

Now on to the countdown. Woohooo.

momof3......congrats to you on getting onboard!!! I am very glad it worked out for you.
