Grr. As much as I appreciate the ability to reserve dining 180 +10, not being able to get into a restaurant until 8pm stinks.
Got up extra early to call when they open thinkin "hey if I call at opening maybe I can get close to 6:30"....NOT, 8:15. I know Ohana fills up fast, but I also know that no way did that many people call in the 30 seconds before I could get through.

Was it for your tenth day of your vacation? If not people had up to a 10 day head start on you. At least you were able to get in.

I agree that is a late time, but at least you got in. You can always call back and see if anyone has cancelled...especially closer to the day

If you are trying at 180+10, then keep trying. I believe some ADR slots are "reserved" for opening at 180 so there is a chance for "everyone else" to also secure ADRs. Even after that, keep trying, you never know.

Also I believe online allows you to book an hour earlier so MANY people could have booked for that day online in the hour they had before you called.

I do all my reservations online. It is much faster for me to type what I want then to dictate to someone else what to type for what I want.

The system for dining reservations is very much like what my undergrad school had for class selection. If you wanted a hard to get class you woke up early. Had exactly what you needed to type preformatted into notepad and did it immediately online in descending order of most important/hardest to get to least important/easiest to get. Compared to that WDW stuff is pretty easy.

depending on what day that was on your trip other people would have had the chance to book there. if that was your first day other people were already booking 10 days prior as the op mentioned. these hard to get into places book fast since they are good so you need to make sure you are on the phone or online booking those first. you also need to be up early to book those. if you are on the west coast people on the east coast also have a 3 hour jump on you unless you are up super early.

Definitely check back. I decided I wanted to add 'Ohana after the fact for my May trip, so I checked probably 4 months out. There was nothing. I checked a couple of times a day for maybe three days and things would pop open here and there... only took a couple of days to get what I wanted. :)

I'm gonna keep checking. It is our first day, so there were a lot of people with a head start. Thanks everybody for reading my rant.
