i really HATE driving. so so much. i was on my way to getting my P's so i could finally drive unsupervised and not have to rely on my parents and older sister and then about 2 months ago, this stupid jerk on a motorbike decides to do a u-turn in front of me and not leave me any room to stop. so of course i hit him and he was fine but then i was too scared to drive.

about a month later i started driving again and was fine but i was leaving pretty big gaps betweeen me and other cars. then yesterday i was practising reverse parallel parking and i did a really good one but my mum kept telling me i was too close to the gutter when i wasn't. then i was going to go inside so i went to park in front of the house but mum said i couldnt coz there was a car coming out of the driveway and i had to go back but i couldnt coz there was a car behind me so i sat there confused and this stupid lady in a massive 4-wheel drive went past when there was clearly no room and by some miracle managed not to hit me. so now im annoyed and hate driving.

on top of that, i have this friend that likes me and keeps texting me and he says some pretty sweet things and now i think i might be starting to fall for him. that wouldnt e so bad except that im not interested in a relationship right now coz i have heaps of things that i need to sort out first. so i really dont want to like anybody.

i know that my problems arent that big compared to some other peoples but i just needed to vent

I used to hate driving too, especially with my dad yelling at me in my ear. I was too close to the curb, I was too far away from the curb, I needed to slow down, I needed to go faster. Ughh.

Seriously, he would tell me I needed to slow down because of the light when I was still 1/4 away from the stupid thing.

But I finally learned to just tune the other people out, and drive how I felt comfortable.

I've...bumped...a car when parallel parking.
And like 2 weeks ago completely blew 2 tires (and destroyed the rims in the process) when I drove over a sewer thing.

And I failed MISERABLY on my first test.
Like, I started crying and the instructor asked if I wanted him to drive back the 2 blocks to the beginning of the course. THAT bad.

And in the beginning I got honked at. A lot.
Stupid little mistakes.

But now I've had my license for like 3 months and I'm completely comfortable with it.
You just have to stick with it for a while. You'll be fine.

I'm sorry you're having troubles, OP. It doesn't matter that your problems might be "small" they are still your problems and they are valid so don't feel too guilty for having them. We all have personal problems that might seem silly to other people, but there is nothing wrong with having them.

You'll improve with the driving, just keep with it and you'll get better. It just takes time and some practice. I had several fender bender type accidents my first year of driving and one that did bad damage to a truck but I was so upset and crying he didn't take any of my information. I also had to have my car fixed because the back of it was scuffed and two little lights were broken. I haven't had any incidents since my first year. It will get better! I will have had my license 4 years on April 1st.

My mom would do that to me. Soo annoying. She made me so nervous when I was driving with her when I had my temps.

Wow. I've always had really positive driving experiences. I've had my license 4 years now and I've never gotten into an accident or received a ticket. I dunno, driving is like second nature to me. Even when I first started driving I was really good at it. My mom's the same way, though.

Practice makes perfect, so just keep at it and you'll get better.

Driving always came natural to me. The only thing I didn't do right was back into a parking space (but to be fair, there were two inches of snow on the ground and I was guessing at where the lines would have been, but the test procter dude/lady [still not sure about that and I mean it seriously] failed me anyway).

I think it has something to do with the fact that I can't be in one place for long. I just don't function right if I can't just up and go. I'm at home in my car, I live for being able to move around.

They made you back into a parking space? Ew. I'd fail that too, even if it was a bright and sunny day! I suck at parking, even just regular parking. I can parallel ok though (which is weird).

Mmmhmmm. his instructions were "ok. Every spot but this one *points* is full. You can't cross any of the lines in the parking lot. You must park in that space". Mind you, we were in a completely empty parking lot with snow covering the ground. And he failed me on the entire exam, not just that part. Apparently backing into a parking spot is somehow vital to everything else.

Since parallel parking is virtually non-existant near where I live, they don't make you even learn that in Driver's Ed.
