Frustrated with MS!

We are going to be in Southern California for three days in September and decided to book the Disneyland hotel with DVC points.

Before I could book, the CM told me that I had to be aware that I would be getting an UNrefurbished room at the DLH. I was surprised because I've been checking the Disneyland DIS Board and everyone who was there recently said that ALL the rooms are now refurbished. When the DVC CM insisted that they were only booking the old rooms, I asked her to call out to the resort and check the status of the construction. After being on hold for about one minute, the CM came back and again insisted that any room booked through DVC at DLH would be UNrefurbished.

I decided not to book without being sure of what I was getting so I called the DLH directly. They assured me that ALL rooms were refurbished and that DVC was giving out incorrect information.

I get so frustrated with DVC MS! This is not the first time that I've received incorrect information or a CM is unknowledgeable. I am also angry that my request to verify construction status with the hotel was never actually done but the Disneyland-specialist CM pretended it was.

I fully understand that all these Disney pieces (DVC, DCL, Resorts) are separate entities--the excuse they always give for communication issues. It is an utter lack of good management practices that ALL parts of Disney are not kept up to date and trained on issues that affect their operations.

Frankly, we've been DVC members for 16 years and in the last few years, have been really disappointed with DVC's service, cutting corners and forcing members into competition for availability. If they intend to keep growing at a rapid rate, they are going to have to do a better job servicing the expanding membership.

I am sorry they gave you wrong information. It is inexcusable when the customer knows more than the trained staff. I hope that you called back and got the person who gave the wrong information and correct her/him. Or call and ask for the supervisor and let them know.

I hope you do get to go to the DLH. I stayed in an old room last summer and I can say that the rooms were in dear need of being refurbished. I thought it would compare to a motel 6 but even worse.

The problem is that they don't have to change and what are you going to do about it? That's the problem with a monopoly, no competition and no reason to give better service.

Also the larger a company becomes the more times communication breaks down.

Disney is by no means a monopoly.

Yes and no. If you want to go to DL, WDW, or DCL, then there is no other way to go about it than through Disney. However, you don't have to have your vacation with them, but if you are a DVC member, it is kind of hard not to. So, if you are looking to use your DVC points, then, you are kinda of stuck with only one option--using MS of DVD.

Sorry, but most of the time the well educated customers will always know more than the employees. Even outside of DVC, if you go buy a car at the ford dealership, you have researched that car tremendously before you showed up. The salesman has to be familiar with ALL the ford cars, not just yours, so he may not be up to date on the most recent or technical things on that particular car. There are exceptions and usually it is because they are fans of that car or own one themselves, etc.

As for DVC MS, they read from a screen. If the screen says one thing, that is what they go by. If they gave out the opposite information, they would be in serious trouble. When the OP was put on hold, sure they might not have called DLH, but maybe asked a supervisor on site or someone more knowledgeable, but still received the same information and just passed it along. Sorry, but demanding that an employee call a specific place doesn't mean they will do it and probably would make some just put you on hold out of principal. If the OP wants to verify with DLH, they should have done exactly what they ended up doing...which was call themselves. But, I would have booked first...than made the call and canceled if I didn't get the right answer. ;)

Disney is by no means a monopoly.

When is comes to DVC Members being able to use someone else to act as our management company or telling a resort that they will be pulled from our list of available resorts due to their substandard service, it kinda is a monopoly.

Sure there might be a legal way to get a different management company but it would never happen.
