Frustrated from attempting ressies for Thanksgiving

Come on Disney, get it together. It's the first day for making Thanksgiving reservations and their "system" is down.

I tried doing it online since, you know, it's 2014!!! but the venue I wanted was only coming up for breakfast and lunch. So I get on the phone and I waited on hold for over one hour. I finally got through and the venue I want is not accessible because their "system" is down. They estimate that it will be back on by noon. There's one hour of my life I'm not getting back.

This gave me flashbacks of other frustrating moments, like way back when you had no choice but to call for Cindy's table at WDW or Fantasmic balcony seating. Or more recently, when "My Disney Experience" gave me so much grief between October 2012 and January 2013.

In my frustration, I'm regretting buying Premium APs but of course, I'm stuck with them.

All this money and Disney can't afford to upgrade their system to handle dining reservations?

Go to the online reservations. They just came up.

Correction: Some venues and times came up available. Some clearly still aren't.

Thanks. I just tried again but the Grand Californian restaurants are still not online. :sad2: :rolleyes2:

I'll keep checking. :headache:

I've been checking online to see if they pull up any reservations because like you, I was on hold for about an hour this morning (after like 20 busy calls) only to be told to try again later. But at least I was able to get a little info so it wasn't a complete waste I guess. She did say it takes a few days to book up fully but I don't really want to take that chance. lol

You regret buying premium APs because of an hours waste of time?

Tell you what, I'll take them off your hands for you to save you future inconveniences.

No, it's because I should have stuck with our original plan which was to go to San Diego for Thanksgiving. Instead my DH insisted he wanted to go to Disneyland again so we bought Premiums to bypass the blocked dates. Now, I'm stuck having to plan and reserve and deal with the frustration.

If only the Premium APs were transferable, you are most welcome to take them off my hands but sadly, like I said, I'm stuck with them.

Did you finally get in? I forgot today was the day until I saw this. Signed in and got my ressies at Storytellers!!! Good luck!

No not yet. No times available for Napa Rose. May I ask what time you got ressies for at Storytellers? I tried that too as an alternative and it only comes up to 2:30 PM.

If we end up at Storytellers, I may see you there. I can finally thank you in person for all the help and advice you've given here on the DIS. :goodvibes

I called the Dine Line around 2pm and got reservations for dinner at Napa Rose without any problem. There are reservations for small parties, but the books will not open for larger groups until Monday (or so I was told).

Do they offer Thanksgiving fare at the restaurants that week? That would be pretty neat.

Most of the table service restaurants in the 2 parks and at all 3 hotels offer special Thanksgiving meals or menu items. Many of the counter service places (such as Plaza Inn, River Belle Terrace, etc.) have a special item or two as well. The Disneyland Hotel offers a Thanksgiving feast in the Ballroom too.

This Disney Parks Blog from 2 days ago lists a lot of the dining options -- http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...lights-for-thanksgiving-at-disneyland-resort/

In Downtown Disney, Jazz Kitchen and Catal offer special, more unique menus for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. I'm not sure about the other DTD table service restaurants' menus.

I forgot about it until yesterday evening and was only able to get a reservation for Carnation Cafe (we actually wanted Goofy's) for our group of 5. However, after seeing the Disney Parks Blog and that this place will have the traditional meal I think we are happy with it.
