just to update, we will not ever know the final word of whether the status is approved or not, but we were called this morning by the sheriff with a direct question of does DF pay his child support and can he prove it.

Our thought process now is maybe she is trying to get df in some kind of trouble. When he and I got together there were problems and we had to get law enforcement involved and things settled down and everyone came together for the sake of the child.

The sheriff knew we have his son a good bit as this is a small community and I have known him for over 15 years and see him out and about.

wow in this day and age I am surprised it isn't automatically garnished.

So your fiance has been asked to prove that he pays child support. Looks like ex-wife's little white lie may have more consequences than she thought. Can your fiance prove that he is current in his payments?

How can she get you DF in trouble unless maybe He is not up to date in his child support?

Also the courts and/or sheriff most likely won't care how much he has his son, it's usually all about whether or not the father/mother is paying his child support and that it is up-to-date.

If he is meeting the court mandated obligations, then you are fine. Now whether that is really actually enough to live/support a child with autism, that's a whole nother ball game.

I'd still imagine she'd qualify for this Stocking Fund though. It would be crazy if she didn't! And usually this is based on income of the Custodial Parent, and do not even take it consideration if the Non Custodial Parent is going to buy the kid a boat load of toys or if a Rich Uncle is taking them on a cruise for Xmas or any other such thing. Those things may never come to light, ya know.

Maybe the sheriff is just trying to figure out if the mom qualifies or not. I wouldn't read too much into it, and don't think the mom did it to get your DF in trouble.

I agree. There are much more direct ways of trying to get someone in trouble than applying for assitance with Christmas gifts.

If the sherriff knew the application was in question, maybe he was just trying to give you a head's up IN CASE she was to go further than putting it on a application for a Christmas charity.

He has reciepts that she signed proving that he paid child support. They are all put up. It is not payroll deducted unless you go through Child Support Enforcement, which they do not.
