Frustrated & Bummed-no way to add 7th day

I have spent the last hour trying to find out how to get 7 days in the park.

Good news first: I called AAA to get parkhoppers, and the agent told me about a "glitch" that is allowing people to buy the Passport Plus 6 days for $216.00/$190.00. It comes with the MM, free parking, pref. seating, and the diamond card for discounts in DTD rest. and shops. That is $30 less per person, and you get the extras. I asked why more people weren't doing this, and it is because they just don't know about it. She said that WDTC made 2011 brochures with the prices of the Passport Plus tickets, therefore they couldn't change them like they did the regualr PH. For 2012 though they have caught their mistake and haven't put prices in the brochures.

So I thought, great! I will buy these, and then add the 7th day that people here spoke of being able to do. I wanted to confirm that I could add a 7th day and find out the cost so I called WDTC. Guest services said it can't be done. If I want more than 6 days, you have to buy a brand new ticket :sad1:

She tried telling me that I should just buy an Annual Pass because by the time I buy a 1 day and a 6 day, I would be pretty close to the same price. I totally agree except...I can't afford to do that for three people! Why can't I add days and pay the difference like I would do for the other days? Why can't US citizens purchase more than 6 days?

I am going to call again in the morning and speak directly to the office in DTD where I will be picking up my Passport Plus tickets just to make sure. If they confirm that we can't add a day, then what to do??? I'm trying not to be disappointed and be thankful that we will have 6 days, which is more than some people ever get, but I am bummed. I will snap out of it soon and get excited that we are leaving in 4 days. Now to find something very inexpensive to do with our 7th day...Ideas?

Thanks for letting me vent!

Sorry about the frustration! Even though I have read about adding the 7th day here on the boards, I only recall one poster claiming to be successful, so I've always treated that info as an urban legend. For a final day, maybe you could do a character meal and visit DTD and Gardenwalk.

What's the price difference between the 6 day and the AP? We did 5 days and upgraded at the end to an AP. It wasn't that much different.

I'd skip the 7th day..not worth paying for a whole new ticket.

We're using our extra day as a beach day :)

The AP is $379 and the 6 day is $246, so $133 per person. That would mean $399 more and that's just not an option, or good decision when we will only be coming once this year.

Sonnyjane-thanks for the encouragement! That's why I love the DIS. I knew if I came here I would get wonderful advice and would be feeling excited again in no time. We will prob. do to DTD and do our souvenir shopping that last day and have a good lunch, which there is nothing wrong with. If I had never thought about a 7th day, this wouldn't be an issue!

Even if the office tells you no, ask the ticket booth everyday anyway. If so many people tell you it's not possible, they probably aren't supposed to do it, but there is always someone who knows how to work the system and you might get lucky.

I agree! It is not worth the extra money for just 6 hours in the park. We need to leave at 4pm, so if we could addan extra day for $5 per person (like the diff. between a 5 & 60 then that's a no brainer, but you can't.

A day at the beach sounds like a great way to spend the day!

I would do this too. Some times your call and only get the official script. But in person things can change.

Otherwise I would go to MHP and not the park in the same day. You can enter DL at 3 or 4 pm so you get 7 hours of parks that day anyway. If you only went to the parks that day you wouldn't get much more time.

We were just down there and ended up spending a whole day @ Newport Beach. Talk about a day of HEAVEN, sunny, warm! Bought these inflatable "boogie boards" for $14 and the kids had a blast all day, and as a plus, could stick them in our suitcases and bring them home. Was a great way to re-energize for 1 more day in DL.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas!

Skiingfast and Scribblekitty- You are right. I am going to continue to check because I know that in several situations people are given completely different information. It can't hurt! Once I am standing there in person, who knows what can happen, after all it is Disneyland.

Skiingfast-good idea about MHP. We would have to go on Halloween night because that's the only day while we are there, and of course that's the most expensive day. It's still an option though!

So now I am curious about the beach. What is the closest beach to DL, and how long does it take to get there? We may have a car for our last two days, so this could work. It would depend on how close to a beach we are. Help DIS friends!

I liked Huntington Beach. The pier is fun..you can go get ice cream at the end of it. There are ADORABLE shops around there (including yummo food at Wahoos!)

This probably isn't the closest..but it's not super far :)

Take the day off to unwind. One more day won't make any difference,Disneyland will always be there.

I bought 6 day park hoppers from Disney.com and was able to upgrade them to 7 day park hoppers when I picked the tickets up from the will-call window on October 13th. I upgraded each 6 day PH for only $5 a ticket! The nice CM who helped me pulled out a paper chart and also consulted another CM when I inquired about the upgrade. I was asked to provide the name and birthdates of the people the park hoppers were intended for and then after upgrading the tickets, the CM gave me two "ride readmission tickets" for use on any attraction except Star Tours & World of Color. She said she did this because it "took her awhile to get the park hoppers adjusted."
Actually, the whole process only took about 15 minutes and I was grateful that I was able to add an additional day after being told via phone that I would be unable to upgrade without purchasing an annual pass. When I initially asked about adding a day, I mentioned that it wasn't feasible for us to buy an annual pass as we live too far away to really enjoy it. I have no idea if this had any bearing on the decision or if the answer is always yes when a person asks.
It's worth asking! :)

If you do this buy your ticket ASAP, it's going to sell out soon.

Sorry you have run into problems. splashtastic! sounds like she has some hopeful news for you.

On the other hand.... do you suppose you will be going again next year? If you were able to upgrade to the APs you could always plan your next trip before the AP expires and get two trips in on your APs instead of just one. This is what we always do. We do take long trips so it is quite a deal for us. In your case, you said that it is $133 more this year BUT your tickets would already be paid for next year. And, who knows? It might be a good excuse to squeeze in another trip somewhere along the way! Just a thought.

Thank you for giving me some hope! I just wonder if it will matter that I am picking my tickets up from Guest Services in DTD? Did you add them when you picked them up for the first time or after a few days? I'm not giving up, and I do believe that once I am standing in front of a real person, telling them our situation, we will have a better chance. I'm not saying it will work, but it can't hurt. Thank you again for a little bit of hope! Maybe I will print the various threads where people have said they were able to do this. If anything it will maybe show them how much we want this and planned on being able to it. Of course, I could be dreaming too :rotfl: which is okay right no!!!

I did the upgrade when I first picked up our tickets, before we had used a day. The CM never handed over the 6 day hoppers, I asked before we got that far. The words I used were: "Would it be possible to add a day to the 6 day park hoppers? We arrived from Alaska early with a day to spare and would love an additional day to shop and play in the parks."
She consulted her chart and told me to add an additional day onto our five 6 day parkhoppers, the total would be $25. We had one other person in our group that I bought a 4 day parkhopper for, I upgraded her ticket for $12, I think. The other two park hoppers I bought were for my husbands parents, who only wanted to go one day. Those two tickets were the only ones the CM didn't ask me the names for.

You can get 8 day hoppers from Flight Center (even as a US resident) I have done it twice before and also have puchased the 8 day hopper for our upcoming trip.

I will certainly call them in the morning and find out how I go about buying them. The 7 day price is $5 more than the AAA passport plus price, and that gives me some! Thanks for sharing, I will let you know how it all turns out :thumbsup2

Here are two posts that talk about adding additional days

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2773898

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2803629

Hope that helps. Just a word of warning, my brother-in-law tried to upgrade from a 3 day to a 4 day Parkhopper and they were able to see how much a paid for the 3 day (less then the current rate) and the upgrade was the cost of a current 4 day pass minus the cost of what he paid for the 3 day not what the current cost of the 3 day was. Hope that makes sense. So hopefully since you got a good deal on a 6 day pass they will just look at it and see that it is a 6 day pass and charge you only $5 per person to upgrade to a 7th day.
