I'm not a big fan of fruits and veggies therefore I'm not taking in appropriate amount of WW points for fruits and veggies. Also, this limits the amount of zero or low point snacks or sides I have.

I like carrots, celery, lettuce, corn, green beans cucumbers and a few other things but I don't like pears, apples, oranges, broccoli or any of the others. My husband and daughter love fruit so I buy lots of it and I try it every once in a while hoping I'll suddenly like it :rolleyes:. Is there anybody else out there like me? If so, what do you do for healthier alternatives to snacks and sides for your meals?

You know, I was never a big fan of fruits and veggies either. Somehow now, I really have started to like them. Make a list of all the veggies you like and start eating them. Keep trying the ones you buy for your family, and if you find that you like them add them to your list.

What about hiding them in food or cooking them another way. I have a veggie book I got from WW's that gives lots of recipes.

For instance, find recipes for desserts that use fruits. Keep them low in points.

Same for veggies. Make homemade pizza and slip some spinach under the cheese (My kids have never been the wiser). Hide them in pasta dishes. I add veggies to lots of things. I think most veggies taste better cooked. I also found a veggie burro that is so wonderful at a local authentic mexican restaurant. I add some wonderful black refried beans as a side dish and I am in heaven.

Good luck, I know its hard. Hopefully in time you will learn to like them.

You mentioned you don't like apples.....there are a gazillion varieties, maybe you could experiement.....mushy and sweet vs. tart and crunchy.
Also a sliced apple with a sprinkle of cinnamon heated in the microwave.....yummmmmmmmy.
AND, what about fruit juices, especially some of the combined juices (strawberry/kiwi my personal favorite). When I did WW I didn't want to 'spend' points on beverages and would rather eat the actual fruit...the opposite might work for you.

Good luck!::MickeyMo

I do not like a lot of different vegetables (and I am vegetarian). But there are ways to add them and get the benefit w/o the "taste." Chopped them up fine (or shreed them) and put them into sauces. Put small amounts that you don't like and mix them up with those you do. Add them to your chilli or soup. I don't like peas but will eat them in soup. Try sauteeing them in brooth. Sprinkle your favorite spices or vinegar on them. Try them raw vs cooked or vice versa. Brainstorm way of preparing them "hidden" in your favorite receipes with your husband and kids. Figure out WHY you don't like them, is it the actual taste or is it the texture (or both).

Like someone else suggested, there are a lot of varieties of apples (and fruits), experiement. You can even make it a fun day with the kids by making a chart of what each apples tastes like, is sweet and meally, crisp and tart, etc. You can try sprikling sweatener or cinnimon, nutmeg or another spice on them (or any other fruit).

There are always going to be certain food you dont like and that is okay. But through experimentation you may find that prepared a certain way there are food you do like just not the way you had been preparing them (I like cooked tomatoes in soups, chillis and sauces but don't like raw tomoatoes). Good Luck .

How about berries? Blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries are really good for you, and they are pretty low in sugar too! They are full of antioxidants and vitamins (especially blueberries!)
