I went to a party and it tasted like the fruit had been soaked in Sprite or 7-up. It was delicious and really refreshing and I'd like to do it w/my fruit salads. Can anyone share how it's done? How long is it soaked in it, etc? Thanks!

I dip cut fruits like apples in Sprite to prevent browning. It works like lemon juice, but sweeter. I only dip them in for a few seconds and it leaves a little bit of a taste, but not much. I suppose if you left them in longer, you'd taste it more, but I don't think you'd need more than a few minutes.

Maybe you could experiment with it to see how you like it best?

1 fresh pineapple, cut into chunks
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
1 cup halved fresh strawberries
1 cup halved green grapes
1 + 1/2 cup chilled lemon lime soda

cut and put fruit in bowl, pour soda over fruit. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Serve with a slotted spoon.

You can substitute soda with 1 cup white wine or WHITE grape juice and 1/2 c. club soda if you like

That sounds good! I'll have to try it. Maybe my kids will eat more fruit.

I actually just use whatever fruit I have/want and then just pour the soda over it. We did this for my bridal shower 100 years ago. The punch we made with pureed strawberries, pineapple juice and 7up and floated strawberries . Omitting the sherbert made that more refeshing as well. (hate sherbert in punch- it makes me thirsty LOL)

I forgot about doing this. We used to do this ALL the time when I was younger. We just used whatever fruit-berries and melons mostly and poured 7-up over and served. I don't remember if we soaked it for an hour first but I do remember adding it right before we served so it was fizzy. I will have to make this soon!!
