hey BB buddies!
I am buying more and more frozen veggies these days, mostly so that I can always have them on hand and sneak them into various meals.
Like most of us here, I like to get the best possible quality at the most reasonable price. Which store-brand frozen veggies do you like the best?
My local stores are Walmart, Target, Kroger and Randalls.
Thanks!:goodvibes

I'm no help - I find Spartan to be the best, but I think they're strictly a Michigan chain, followed by Meijer. Kroger aren't bad either, but they don't have as good a selection in my experience. Of course the very best and very cheapest are the ones I freeze myself from produce bought in-season at the farmer's market, but I don't always manage to put up enough to last the year.

I've honestly never noticed a difference between name brand and store brand frozen veggies. That said, most stores stand behind their in-house brands. If you try it and don't like it, they'll give you a refund. Check your local store's policies to be sure though.

I don't think this is a store brand, but I have only found it available at Walmart...Pictsweet brand. I tried their frozen corn and if I hadn't known it was frozen in a bag, I would have thought it was fresh off the cob. It is delicious.

Krogers here in barely indiana has a GREAT selection of kroger frozen veggies..

This time of year I LOVE fresh veggies the farmers markets here are as high as the stores tho but I usually have a family member or 2 who has to much an lets me come pick whatever they can't use.

Nothin like a big pot of fresh green beans new red baby taters an chunks of ham an a ham bone YUMMY!!!!!!!!!

They are not a store brand.

I buy all of our frozen veggies at BJ's. Usually they're packaged in 3 1lb bags, instead of the usual one big bag which always gets freezer burn because I'm the only one who eats vegetables in the house. SWMBO will only eat corn, occasionally green beans, and at most, a mouthful of peas. *sigh*

Kroger brand is fine. I am not sure about Walmart's. I watch for sales and around here Green Giant (name brand) often goes on sale for cheaper than the store brand.

I love frozen corn the best!

I buy whatever is cheapest and usually that's the store brand. I've never noticed a difference when it comes to frozen veggies. I usually shop at Publix and WalMart and they're basically the same when it comes to taste.

I like Kroger. They have a good organic version that is NOT much more expensive than the non-organic. Like a $0.50 difference. I LOVE LOVE LOVE frozen veggies. They're picked and packed at their peak nutritional value, are cheaper than fresh veggies in the winter time, last a long time, and are EASY to prepare and add to dishes. Good job for buying frozen veggies! :goodvibes

I also like the frozen vegetables. But does anyone know how to keep the rest of the bag fresh after I open it. We usually eat about half the bag but then the other half is not the same when I take them out again. I try to get the air out and use a clothes pin or bag tie to close the bag. There must be a better way?

thanks everyone for all the replies!
i agree, kroger has a pretty good selection. just went to randalls the other day and tried their stir fry mix which was excellent. prices were higher though.
as for keeping the remainder of a bag fresh, i try not to buy too big a bag of whatever veggie, but when i do, i keep the remainder sealed in a ziploc freezer bag and that works pretty well.
thanks again!
