Would you have made different plans for your Disney trip this year if they'd announced the Frozen Summer event at Hollywood Studios earlier? I mean, come on! They announce it a week before it begins?

We just got back from a May trip and will go again for Halloween. Definitely would have made different plans if we'd known this we be going on July 5 - September 1. All the events sound fun. I almost can't imagine what a whole theater full of people singing along to Frozen songs will be like.

This year's trip was planned around my daughter's 5th bday so we were never flexible. That being said, I am trying to figure out if there is anyway to squeeze in a visit to take advantage of this event. Hopefully it will work out even if just for a few days.

Yes, we definitely would have avoided this summer completely. As angry as you are, the people who hate what this frenzy has created and have 100% paid in advance are equally angry.

I would love a spontaneous trip down for this but with FP + I am concerned I won't get my money's worth out of the trip bc I haven't booked in advance.

I really think you're believing it will be more of a frenzy than it will be. If Disney was only doing these activities one or two days a week, THAT would create a frenzy. The same activities seven days a week won't really create any real crowd surges.

Although I am disappointed that my trip isn't until November and we will miss this I am glad to see that people who can only go in the summer months now have something new and exciting to look forward to on their trips. But at the same time I feel bad for the ones who are just going to miss it either they had a June trip or have a September one, cause I know that I would be really upset if I just barely missed it.

The casting call for these events just went out. They're literally going to put it together in a week. The Halloween parade performers start rehearsal in July, this is very, very last minute! :confused3

It's pretty sudden, for sure. But it's exciting all the "extra" things Disney is putting out at the Parks so far this year. (This, Villans night, etc.)

I don't think we would have changed our plans, as I STILL would not want to go to the parks from July to Sept 1st. We go after Sept 1st and usually never in the midst of summer. Although, it's awfully tempting to see what it will be like!!! And, honestly, I really want one of those interactive Olaf's!!!! :thumbsup2

I am completely bummed that we will miss this!... My daughter would love it! We arrive September 10th, still holding out hope that they will extend it or make it a semi-permanent event for DHS (it surely needs it)

I'm disappointed that we will miss it, but DS and I are doing a trip based around fall break, so we definitely can't reschedule. I think this is a great move for Disney & I'm really happy for anyone who will get to experience it.

I priced out a quick trip at the end of July when I heard this. If flights hadn't been so much we would have seriously considered going. Our drive would be 24 hours one way so it's just not really possible without flying. I'll just hope for more events during our already planned November trip.

On the thread celebrating this there are 3 families who just decided to book trips and do HS the day we planned to be there. There are also people who planned to be in AK that day and now plan on HS. I will bet in the next few weeks my crowd predictor of 3 for that day becomes at least a 5 because of this.

Just posted on the other thread:
We will be in Tampa next week for a gymnastics meet. Original plan was only to stay the 4th at the Poly for fireworks. Then I added a few days and decided we would just enjoy resort hopping and DTD, no parks. Then I decided that we would do 1 day at MK for 7dmt. Now, we have to do 2 days so we can experience all the Frozen stuff!! This trip keeps getting longer and more expensive!

For HS and for MK. I think it relieves some pressure off MK, especially since in a previous thread, lots of people posted HS is a half day park.

I personally know of 2 families who booked today, an august trip, just because of this new addition. Plus in the actual frozen thread, there was 3 or 4 people who booked trips. It's going to draw some good crowds.

Glad I've got my FP+ booked for our HS day already.

My 10 month obviously has no idea what Frozen is (nor does she realize just how lucky she was to get an A&E meet and greet a couple weeks ago, hehe) but I am still bummed we are going to miss this. We were there in June for 4 nights and going in September for 10 nights. It's like a double disappointment. If they had announced this just a little sooner, we could have made plans to be there but it isn't realistic now.

But the thing to remember (since I see you just joined the Dis this month) is that the people on the. Dis make up a very, very small minority of the number of people who go to Disney. And we also to be far more fanatical than the general public, I doubt you'd find many non-hardcore Disney fans who will plan a trip to see this Frozen stuff. Do I think the new activities will increase crowds a little? Yep. Your crowd level probably will jump from a 3 to a 4, maybe a 5 if you plan to go to DHS on an EMH day, but you're still dealing with pretty doable crowd levels. Disney is clearly trying to better disperse the crowds from MK to the other parks (especially in the evenings) by adding extra events (Harambe Nights at AK, Illuminations dessert party at Epcot and Frozen summer to DHS).

But there's little chance this Frozen add-on for the summer will make DHS as crowded and frenzied as it is for, say, Star Wars Weekend.
