Frozen show: What's your opinion? Trying to decide whether to see it

Totally against my expectation I loved the show. The special effects are great and love the singing. The Guy who's playing Olaf is wonderful.

At first I was a little "shocked" that Anna wasn't played by a caucasian girl, but her performance was stunning too. I'm not a racist of any kind, but the way Disney cast their characters I never expected it.

I went to see it 3 times on my 6 day trip. And Walked Up all 3 times just 15 minutes before showtime.

Yes Aladdin was great to and less mainstream but this show is almost a match.

I agree...this through me off. She was amazing, but I felt the same thing. It just surprised me because Disney typically casts in a way that it looks 100% like the character in the movie, and many girls go to that thinking they are seeing Elsa and Anna. But I thought she did a great job.

Hmm, like I said before, I didn't notice the color-blind casting, but then I assumed everyone was talking about side characters. I'm pretty sure I would have at least noticed if one of the main characters looked significantly different. I must have had a different Anna. I still think it's good that they're casting based on skill, but I can understand how that would be a bit distracting at first since you have a specific image of that character in your head.

I think it's important to note that to Disney, this is a show. These are not the actual characters on stage. That is not Anna and Elsa up there, it is actors playing Anna and Elsa. The cast members will tell you that they are actors playing the roles. If you want to see the real Anna and Elsa walk across the street to the Animation Academy and meet them there. Because of that, they can do colorblind casting and cast whoever is right for the role.

Hmm, good point!

I loved Aladdin and I thought Frozen was a terrific show on par with Aladdin. Better staging; excellent acting. It was a wonderful experience -- though I wouldn't commit several hours to see it--I certainly would spend over an hour waiting just like WOC or F!

Saw it today with the whole family (me, wife, son 9, daughter 8) and we all loved it. I especially liked the Olaf and Sven puppets and the effects were great. If we can squeeze it in to our schedule we want to catch it again.

We never saw the Aladdin show (it was in the plans for the last trip and never happened, still kicking myself for that one), so we made this a priority for the first day of our trip. It's great to see that a theatrical show of that quality is available in the parks.

I liked it, but I would not go see it again.

It's fun, but it is just an abbreviated version of the movie.

I did like the dress switch, during let it go song. Still trying to figure out how that was done so smoothly.

I have video of the performance I attended...it clearly shows how the "dress switch" happens...if you're interested...

We loved Aladdin and I think I was prepared to be disappointed by Frozen, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's got a lot of neat things about it in its own right for sure. I don't think it will have the staying power that Aladdin did (you can't compete with the genie's jokes that could changed based on pop culture and current events) but it's definitely worth seeing. We've seen it twice now and, to comment on the color blind casting... this last time, the Anna and Elsa as little kids were caucasian and then as adults, Elsa was Asian and Anna was African American. They both were amazing (and were more talented than the caucasian Anna and Elsa we saw the first time) but admittedly, it was distracting at first.

How long prior does one need to line up to get in to watch Frozen?
we were told to line up about 45 mins to an hour before the show.. your whole part must be there as they wont allow you to hold a spot for them. we decided late to see it, and got into the stand by lline.. and made it into the show...

my 12 r old son . who is anti princess anything,, and our 16 yr old teen friend.. enjoyed it .. as did all the adults in our group;

We enjoyed the show. My college aged daughter enjoyed it so much we saw it twice last time we were there.

I used to make it a point to see Aladdin at least once per trip and thoroughly enjoyed it each time, saw Frozen once and have no desire to return. It wasn't bad, I just didn't really enjoy it either.
