Frozen Ride Now Open!!!

Trying not to spoil things so not watching any video or anything, but saw reports that the animatronics are amazing and they "perfected" the projection mapping used in 7DMT

Watched a POV. Elsa animatronic is smooth. Lots of Olaf.

You could tell, even with the new overlay, the riders on the boat missed the Maelstrom.

It looks fun. No way I would wait 300 Minutes for a ride.... I'm going in September, hoping for a lot less of a wait time :):drive:

Have to admit - no matter how I feel about the movie, the attraction being in World Showcase, or the fact that I was puking popsicles watching it, :) I DID watch a POV, and have to admit - the projections were spectacularly done, it's a very "pretty" attraction, and they NAILED the animatronics - so smooth and lifelike!!

You can watch the whole FROZEN movie from start to finish 3 times and its 304 minutes but i would be more than happy to wait on line for this ride.

Just absolutely amazing

Disney imagineering at its finest

If they could only revamp figment

2 side notes:

- the sign only goes up to 300 ... so it very well may be longer
- the ride was down for a bit (apparently issues with the Olaf animatronic) so it was suggested you add 1 hour to any wait time to make up for that down time

I completely get the debate regarding the opening up of World Showcase to IP, character rides, etc. Let's be honest with ourselves: Maelstrom was not a beloved classic. It was a 1980's cheap attempt at a classic Walt Disney boat ride that never had a wait, even with abysmal capacity capability (As Disney is witnessing right now). While the debate rages on regarding placement and comparisons to "classic" fantasy rides, I think anyone in their right mind without preconceived prejudice can clearly see this is a superior experience compared to the prior one.

There is literally nothing at Disney or universal that would entice me to spend 5+ hours in line for.
Seriously. It's maelstrom with a new skin, it's hardly a technological marvel of an attraction that warrants waiting to experience it.
Some cool animatronics, sure, but it's just a reg boat ride right?!

No one misses Malestorm.
Haha, I think you're right on this.

People "miss" it, but I'd say they're mixing their feelings up with not wanting an IP in WS and that the IP is frozen.
I rode it once and wondered why I waited 15 minutes for it. this was during the time that A&E M&G was in Norway and had 300+ minute waits, so I assume maelstrom traffic was up by default of people just being in the area?

Just watched a POV video of it myself, and as much as I still don't want IP's inside World Showcase(other than character interactions).....it looks pretty darn cool to me.*

*No pun intended.

Well, I am sure most of the craziness today is because it is opening day and people want to ride it today and film it and post to the web etc.

It will be interesting to see the waits after it has been open for a week or so and also patterns in the morning as far as rope-drop and people coming from early ADRs at Akershus, etc.

Plus it's been down A LOT.
But, people waited that long just to get a picture with a ressies dressed as A&E, so this isn't surprising.

7DMT consistently has 2+ hour waits, and it's almost 2 years old now... I think FEA will have these types of waits for a long time, right through to 2019 is my bet (based on mine train)

Is 7DMT still at 2 hours? wow guess that is the good and bad of FP. I agree that FAE will have long lines for quite some time as it is a very slow loading / low capacity ride

Making me a bit nervous as I am worried I won't be able to get FP for it as we are staying offsite so have to wait until the 30 day mark

It's currently showing 120 minutes (but space mountain is showing 115...)

wow, so they are now handing out Mickey bars for free to people on line that have waited and seeing some people have been there long enough for a second round.

A) that is crazy to wait that long
B) Appreciate Disney at least trying - they don't need to hand our free stuff like that
