Hi all - just home from 5 days in the "world" and wanted to share some opinions and thoughts about our trip. I'll just be reviewing a few things, giving my opinions on what we experienced.

First off - the CAST:

Me - Vacation planner and money keeper. Have been to WDW many times, but not since 2002, until this trip.

DH - A WDW first timer and he's 48! I made him wear the "First Trip" button the first day and after that he "forgot" to put it on...Yeah, right! He is a sweetheart tho and thus, no more bad reporting about him! :rotfl:

First off will be a rant. And once I'm done with this rant, there will be no more. BUT - I felt very strongly about posting this and it is from my observation and is only my opinion. Pshew! Hope that covers me!

Our first two days were quite warm, but the last two days were COLD, COLD, COLD! I'm talking 60F during the day with wind and into the 40's at night. So, there were DH and I with three layers of clothing on...as we were waiting for the Disney bus, a father walked by with 3 young children. In the stroller was an infant, probably 6-8 months old wearing literally almost NOTHING! Bare feet, no hat, no blanket, nothing but a pair of pants and a shirt!!! It was freezing out!!!! The young boy had on long pants and a windbreaker jacket. He was about 5-6 yrs old. Also along for the ride was a small girl - maybe 4 and all she was wearing was a lightweight sweater and shorts. Where the heck is mommy????? Did she dress these kids before Dad took them out for the evening??????? (Dad, by the way was in shorts and a T-shirt). And disers' I'm telling you, I saw more nearly naked children in the parks than those that were wearing clothes! No hats, no socks, no shoes, no blankets!!!! Is this a new way of raising children???? Do we keep them exposed to the elements to make them "hearty stock"???? What is going on??? Can someone enlighten me on this???? Am I crazy??? I know I should mind my own business, but we're talking about BABIES!

Okay, rant over with....next we will merrily skip into Animal Kingdom AND our first ride on Expedition Everest!!!! :scared1:

Hi,
I came home yesterday from WDW, but we were down in the Key's on Sunday, and it was 71. I take it WDW didn't get very warm. On Wednesday it rained a little bit at the MK and it did cool down. I saw a mom on the jungle cruise with an infant and her dh and dd. She covered the baby's head with a diaper. It was sprinkling on us, I felt so bad for her. I think a lot of people got thrown off by the weather, because it was warm the previous days.

I stayed at POR, what area where you in?

I know what you mean about folks not dressing there kids for the weather, I camped with the boy scouts last weekend Friday night was windy and in the 40's Saturday night was a low of 26 degrees:scared1: Most boys where in t shirts and shorts:scared1: and some light jackets:scared1: Looking forward to reading your report:surfweb:

OhMari - We were in Oak Manor room 9264. I don't even think we had anyone staying near us it was so quiet!!!! Such a lovely property!

Weather was hot on or arrival day - 87F on Friday...Saturday was 80F or so, but then the cold front came thru Saturday night. Beautiful clear skies the next two days, but so cold! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr! :headache:

We were in the Mansion that starts with P, I think it is Perronette (sp?).

I had a bounce back promo in my room from Oct. Made you think that no one stayed there since. The next day, I had a better bounce back with 40% off to use for almost all of next year and part of this year yet.

I agree with POR being desserted, when we left on Monday, the place was like a ghost town.

I helped the gardener plant poinsettia's in the ground. I was so amazed that you could plant pointsettia's, she let me plant one.:rotfl: I've only seen poinsettia's in potted plants that you buy for in your house.

That's funny OhMari! I bent down to check to see if they were real!!!!! It is very strange to see them planted in the ground! They looked beautiful tho!

I wish we could have met, we probably passed each other somewhere. I am a shyer person, and I never asked anyone if they could possible be a DIS member.

I did walk into BBB at the Castle, because a CM that works there is a member on the DIS. She told me to look for her there, but I was to shy to ask for her.

Awwwwww that's too bad we didn't know.....like I said, I hardly saw any people anyway!

Expedition Everest review coming up soon!

We spent our first day at Disney at Animal Kingdom, and naturally, whenever you go to AK, it is the hottest day of your vacation!!!! I have to talk to those deoderant people because mine sure wasn't working!

Expedition Everest:

We had seen all the YouTube videos and new that EE was going to be pretty darn good! We hopped in line with a standby of 20 mins.....I am always amazed at Disney and how they make everything so REAL! It felt just like being in a camp!

We boarded the cars.....I'm sure it wasn't the front, but possibly 2 rows back...the next thing we knew, we were off!!!!!! Fun, fun, fun! We got to the broken track in no time and I thought to myself "this is it"????? Jeez, it wasn't that good...but then.....all of a sudden you're going BACKWARDS!!!! Zoommmmmmmmmmmm! Backwards into dark tunnels, curves, dips, plunges!!!!! Going places you didn't go while going forward! :scared1: It was, in a word - AWESOME!!!!!! We loved it!

So, giving EE a ranking, we both gave it a very high 10!!!! I think Disney needs more attractions like this and if they ask my opinion I'll tell em!

Next Up: Breakfast @ Crystal Palace and Magic Kingdom! :woohoo:

Just found your TR. Our previous two stays were at POR. Except for the lobby, food court, and pools, it always felt kind of desserted. We were there in June and July. We stayed in Panterre both times we were there. Beautiful resort. Now you have made me want to run over and check out the resort and the Poinsetta's planted in the ground.

I agree about people not dressing their children appropriately. We was in the 50's the other day and I saw this mother with her infant in only a diaper.:scared1: Being away from home I can understand a little more because the clothes at the parks can be expensive, but when you just left your house, what are you thinking.

Loved your description of EE. I thought the same thing when we reached the broken track. I can't wait for my parents to ride it because I know they will love it.

OhMari, I bet that is a nice memory that you got to help plant the Poinsetta's.

hey,
I hope you come back.
My TR is sitting too, but I am waiting for my photopass pictures. I did a share, and I might not be getting my pictures.
