Frontier Town

Thanks for mentioning this park (even though it was an accident) during the part of the 7/15/2010 DisBoards show.

This was an old amusement park in North Hudson, NY. It opened in 1952 and closed in 1998.

I went there once as a kid in the mid 80's. I don't remember too much about it, but I know I had a bunch of fun.

I've been to Frontier Town a couple of times as a young kid.

I think thats why I have the Frontierland / Frontier Town mix up.

I also was dragged to frontier town as a child. The other place we were taken was wild west city. It sure wasn't Disney.

I also went to Frontier Town as a child. I actually have some footage I shot after it was closed. I was working in news and I think it was 2002. They still had a bear that was kept on property and locals would feed it. We were working on a story about a rescue picking up the bear and giving it a new home. After I was done shooting my news package I went around and shot all the old buildings that were left. It was a sad state after what I remembered as a child. Does anybody remember the Land of Make Believe in Upper Jay NY ?

Wow! After clicking on Flightlessduck's link and looking at pictures, apparently I've been there, too. I don't remember it, but I'm sure that some of the pics in my baby album from when I was 1 were taken there.

I went to the North Pole and if I remember correctly Storybook Land.
I have an old picture somewhere, think it must have been in the late 50's :-0

I think it was called Storytown and now its called "The Great Escape" and I think its owned by six flags. I also think Santa's Workshop is still open time to time..Of course none of these places come close to Disney but I think they started my Disney addiction..

I recently took a trip to Great Escape with DD on a school trip, and was tripped out because I recognized it as "Storytown". Weird deja vu. I kept saying, I know I've been here before! and then it dawned on me that it was Storytown. It is still in pretty good shape too!

I dont remember Carson City, but I've been to Catskill Game Farm many times.

I used to bring the kids there when they were little. It was nice. Sadly, it closed in 2006, and the animals were auctioned off.

Yes it was a shame that the Game Farm closed. It was a family owned business for many many years. If you remember the Game Farm you might also remember the resort down the road, Friar Tuck? That also closed (due to foreclosure) recently.
