Has anyone had experience flying out to Trenton NJ to Orlando on Frontier. I didn't even know this airport existed and am wondering if it is an option for us. Interested in service, timeliness etc. Thanks !:goodvibes

We booked tickets for our party of 10 leaving from Trenton-Mercer airport on Frontier recently (flying from Newark/New York was crazy prices this time around!). I'm curious of experiences with the airport and airline as well!

Seems like we all are looking for lower cost alternatives. We are familiar with Spirit and understand their no frills ways. Seems like this would be similar, but closer to our home. Any info? Thanks! Gram

I flew them from Allentown before they went all "no frills" and they were pretty good.

They no longer fly from Allentown.

You may want to hear from someone who has flown recently.

I've been there several times since they started flying out of Trenton.

A few things to remember
Frontier requires you to be checked-in including bag drop only 45 minutes prior to the flight. This is a hard fast cutoff so plan accordingly. They have a separate bag-drop line so be checked-in at home and save time at counter.

Trenton has most of its parking spots right in front of the terminal with no shuttle needed, however they recently added an overflow lot for when the main lots fill up, which is 1 mile from the terminal but does offer a free continuous shuttle, so you need to leave some extra time incase you need to use the overflow lot. Parking BTW is $8 a day

Terminal is small, only a 2 gate waiting area, with no jetways just doors out to the tarmac (kids might like that) and ramps to walk up to the plane. Gate area offers a snack bar with sandwiches, snacks, soda, beer, etc. I've been told they also have milk incase you need that. Also does have bathrooms after security (you may read that it doesn't they were put in back in November 2013)

Restaurant upstairs with great views of the tarmac. also has a general seating area, this is all pre-security across and up from the check-in area.

My DH flew Frontier out of TTN to Atlanta last year for a business trip. It is very no frills. You should be aware that there is nothing once you clear security, not even a rest room, so be sure the entire party visits the facilities before going through security, especially if you are flying with kids.

We almost booked it for our next Disney trip, but it is our first time traveling with ODS' wheelchair. We found a near comparable price on JetBlue out of EWR for our dates, and jumped on it, just to fly out of the bigger (and ADA compliant) airport.

There is a bathroom after security now, they did a renovation to the terminal in November

"Renovations include a new baggage-claim facility just outside the terminal, a larger passenger waiting area, restrooms beyond the security checkpoint and a refreshment bar offering non-alcoholic beverages, beer and wine, and grab-and-go food for passengers in the airport’s Sky Lounge downstairs."

Cool, that was needed. DH definitely flew before that was completed.

Has anyone heard if they are planning to increase flights out of Trenton? I really found some good rates but with them only flying one flight each way and only five days a week, I worry we could get stuck for several days. I wouldn't even have the option of another airline because no one else flies there

The no bathroom after security check could have been a deal breaker for me! :goodvibes Thanks all for the info. When they are talking about 45 minutes does that mean you need to be there at least before that to check your baggage? I would have thought that is usual procedure. We don't fly very often but usually plan to be at the airport about 2hrs before take off. Also usually have printed boarding passes at home. So if we stick to our 2hr routine do you think we would be fine? Interesting about the overflow lot. Need to factor that in. I think we will take a dry run out there at a time and day similar to our planned flight to check out the situation. Tarmac will be a new experience for the grandkids!

If you need to check a bag or check-in with an agent you have to be in line 45 minutes prior. If you are 2 hours prior to flight time, that should be plenty of time even if you have to park in the overflow lot.

I haven't heard anything about increased flights. But you've brought up a good point. In any small airport with limited service, any irregular operations could lead to massive delays. You could insist on a refund, but then you'd have to go to Newark or Philadelphia and pay outrageous walk-up fares to get to Orlando.
Frontier, Spirit, Allegiant and the like won't transfer you to another airline or airport. Most of the time everything works out fine; just keep in mind some of the disadvantages of choosing a flight from a small airline in a small airport.

I have been watching their fares to Orlando in September. The dates I'm looking at are actually cheaper into Tampa. I know they've added on fees so beware when you book economy (the cheapest fare). They charge for carry-on bags and checked bags (1 personal item is free - purse, laptop). They charge for seats and also soda, water, etc is $1.99 (no free drinks or snacks). Now I've checking on rental cars and they're $100 more out of Tampa. Sometimes you can't win for trying:)
