Does anyone have any experience with purchasing the Works with their flight? Among the extras included with the Works is 100% refundability, if your reservation is cancelled at least 24 hours before scheduled departure. Does the refund include the cost to purchase the Works, or is only the cost of the flight refundable?

Available only at initial booking at flyfrontier.com
✓ Carry-On Bag
✓ Checked Bag
✓ Seat Selection
✓ Priority Boarding
✓ Flight Flexibility
✓ 100% Refundability

Fortunately, I have never had to ask for a refund from them, but the refund request form does say only any service fees, if applicable, will be deducted from the refund. Elsewhere they define a service fee as the charge for booking through their toll free number. Hopefully another forum member will have experience with this.

Thanks for your input. I have seen conflicting info on this, including customer comments about conflicting answers received from Frontier CSRs.

Frontier is one of the worst airlines to fly on because they nickel and dime you to death with everything. Yes, they have low airfare, but by the end after you add any bundles or whatever, you are probably better off going with a more reliable airline that operates more flights and more aircraft. Southwest is a good option, Delta and United. If you absolutely have to go with Frontier, do what you gotta do. Of course, it all depends on how many people are flying in your group. Personally, I have never flown on Frontier, but have heard LOTS of horror stories and have actually priced some flights from Dallas to MCO and after everything was said and done, it was just about the same cost to fly on a regular carrier.

I’m pretty sure the entire amount is refunded, or rather issued as a credit. It’s essentially like paying a higher fair with another airline I believe, just packaged differently.

I have used their emergency cancellation policy before though and since I’d likely only ever cancel for those reasons I don’t purchase the WORKS.

For me, I love the a la carte pricing structure with Frontier. I usually pay $50-$80 round trip from NJ/PA to FL because I don’t need all the extras. Allows me to fly a lot more often. But yes if you have to have all of the additional items it may not be the cheapest option. We have had great experiences with them though and fly with them at least 4-6 times a year now.

If they work for you awesome. I wouldn't be opposed to trying them at some point if the price was right, but who knows!! We're driving to Disney in September from Dallas so that should be an interesting trip!

I have read that the Works bundle allows cancellation with a refund, not a credit for future flights; however, the refund request must be emailed to them. My airline of choice, for many years, has been Southwest. Usually booking with points, I luv the ability to change or cancel, without any fees or penalties.

However, Southwest changed their flight schedule, during my travel week, from their usual, which would mean a return flight arriving fairly late at night, creating an issue for me. Frontier has a nonstop back home, departing MCO at an ideal time. A vote against Frontier is that they don't participate in RAC.

Those are the only two airlines, at this time, which fly nonstop between my home airport and MCO, and I do not want any connecting flights. So, my dilemma is arrive late, back home, on Southwest (knowing that later flights are more prone to delays) or book Frontier with the Works, assuming the Works cost would be fully refundable on a cancelled booking.

That's what I assumed too, but this is what it says on their website.

I didn't use my ticket, can I get a refund?

Fares are non-refundable unless:
  • Within 24 hours of purchase: All tickets may be canceled for a full refund up to 24 hours after the time of purchase (Note: Tickets purchased within 7 days of travel will be held as credit, subject to a cancellation fee). You can request a refund by logging into My Trip.
  • You purchased the WORKS℠: If you purchased the WORKS℠ with your ticket, refundability is included. Visit Flyfrontier.com and retain the value of your purchase for use within one year of the transaction date. To request a refund, please fill out our Online Refund Request Form. Tickets must be canceled prior to flight departure in order to retain their value. Failure to show for any flight or cancel a ticket prior to any ticketed flight departure will forfeit the remaining value of the ticket.

Thanks for posting this. I did see that info, but I also read about customers' experiences saying that calling Frontier gave them inconsistent answers.

This morning, I decided to just stay with Southwest and hope that the flight will be operating on schedule. All in all, the benefits of flying Southwest just outweighed the single benefit of switching to Frontier.

I am FAR from a Frontier apologist, but this post is a bit harsh from someone who has never flown on the airline.

I have had to cancel 3 separate trips and yes you get everything you have paid including the works price refunded to you. It is refunded back to the credit card you used to book the flight. I have never gotten a travel credit its always been a refund to my credit card. .I have never had an issue getting all of our money refunded. Love flying on Frontier and have never had an issue with our flights. Even though the nickel and dime you it is well worth it to have a direct flight and the price is lower than Southwest for us anyway. Frontier just placed another order for more planes so than means they are doing something right to make enough more to purchase more planes. For my cancelations I just contacted them via private message on FB. and it was handled right away. I usually hear back within 2 hrs from Frontier

I find Frontier great for weekend getaways and spontaneous trips. They have sales all the time which gives some incredible deals. I can fit 3 days of clothes in an under seat bag and for a 2 or 3 hour flight, I could care less where they seat me. Did a BOGO flight to Tampa last month for $80 round trip for the two of us and we both had aisle seats one row apart. (Drove to Disney.). Just got back today from a PBI flight, plane left early and got in early both directions, had row to myself going down and coming back the plane was not full so they allowed some moving around. Crew was very friendly. My other go to has been Southwest, but it has been harder to find decent fares unless I book very early.

I'm a Frontier fan myself, I don't select seats, etc. so I'm NOT nickled and dimed. I've gotten flights as low as $15 each way from CLE to MCO, it was a quick trip and we were able to pack what we needed in backpacks so no paying for luggage. I would be hesitant to take advice from someone who has NEVER flown the airline. I fly with them an average of 3 times a year and have never had a flight cancelled and only ever been delayed once, coming home from Mexico.

Have flown on Frontier several times and never had any issues. With any airline, you need to look at the TOTAL cost of the ticket when doing comparison shopping (i.e. seating assignment, baggage, etc.). Frontier clearly shows the TOTAL price of the ticket you are buying unlike some other airlines that try to obscure their pricing. Which airline you choose relates more to where your live and what airport you are near (and what airlines fly from there) as well as where you typically fly to. Usually there are a few people who had some bad experience on airline X and then go online to bash them every chance they get. I wouldn't choose an airline based on complaints from people you don't even know.

I ended up booking Frontier with the Works bundle and found that booking on the app saved $20 on the cost of The Works, over booking on the website.

Not practical for most....Passengers flying Frontier and Spirit can save around $19 on most tickets by purchasing their tickets at an airport counter. You'll lose Frontier Den discount and any discount for paying for luggage when you book. You might get a free seat assignment. This only makes sense if you live real near the airport or go going to the airport for another reason.

This is the reverse of most (all?) other airlines.

Yep, and it's $19 each way so almost $40 savings r/t! I live 5-10 min. from an airport and have done this for Spirit, it's a smaller, regional airport and I was in and out in just a few minutes, easy peasy!

Frontier is fine for short flights. Their seats, even the upgraded ones, are tough on my back on longer flights. I said never again after my LAX-MCO, but I’m taking them again in October since their schedule worked best for me. Flying back on United though.
