Every week or so I get an email from Frontier advertising $19, $29 or $39 fares. Now I know SOMEBODY must get the el cheapo fare (right? or it'd be false advertising?), but have you, or have you known anybody, who's gotten one of those fares?

I couldn't!
I'm going to Marco Island this year and they were the only airline with nonstop. They were cheaper - but not cheap.
And! By the time I added in the fees for my seats, carry ons avd luggage - I'm not happy!
I'm really nervous about my trip :/

I got tickets a few years ago out of Greensboro to Orlando for either $39 or $49 on the way down. The return flight didn't work for us so we flew southwest back into Raleigh. One of DD's friends from school was in Disney at the same time and the mom was telling me they got the same kind of flights out of Shennandoah airport I think to Orlando. I don't think frontier is in either one of those airports anymore.

I don't remember paying a bunch of fees either, just our baggage fee. It worked out good for us and I would have flown them again.

I got $59 each way on our last Disney trip. It's what was advertised, PHL - MCO.
Then they cancelled our return flight a few hours before we were suppose to depart and I swore never again Frontier.

I check all the time both Frontier and Southwest but never see any great deal for our airport (DEN). We are flying Frontier to MCO next month and will never fly with them again. This is only the second time we've flown with them but it is always such a hassle and it does not come out as cheap as you think after all the fees. Only reason we are flying Frontier is that they had the best schedule for our specific day - we usually fly SW and love them. Return flight is with SW :)

They started charging for carry ons and to choose your seat last year.

At those rates, I am surprised they even give you a seat. I would think you would have to stand holding a bar like on a bus.

Avoid Frontier Air at all costs. Repeat. Avoid Frontier Air at all costs.

We flew Frontier from Branson to Las Vegas last year (and Allegiant home). I really didn't care for Frontier. Allegiant is not so bad, but Love Southwest. Unfortunately SW isn't near us (closest is 3 hours away in St Louis-we flew that to Orlando last year.) We are doing Allegiant this year into Sanford/Orlando. We would be getting a rental car anyway-and got a bundled rate for 13 days, air (and fees, and checked bags) for 5 for ~2k. Comparing on SW would have been about the same (with car rental for only 6 days when we switch to offsite)+we would have a drive before and after trip.

Southwest used to be crazy cheap when we lived in TX many years ago...

We've flown Frontier the last 2-3 times and I'll be using them again next week...I got $98 RT from St. Louis to MCO, couldn't pass it up. Zero problems with them so far, *fingers crossed*.

Frontier used to be great and then they were sold and moved to the ultra low cost model. It's horrible now. My coworker did just get back from Vegas using the $39 fare from Denver but he got lucky.

I <3 SW!

They bought out Midwest Express, layed off everyone, took the planes and repainted them, to Frontier. Eliminated the fresh cookies, then they cancelled all their flights out of Milwaukee, except you could fly to Denver if you needed to go anywhere else. This winter they brought back a flight on Friday to Orlando, but if it got cancelled do to a snowstorm, you would of been SOL. They lost my business.

I am flying from Cleveland to MCO a week from today. $69 Roundtrip! I have used them Cleveland to Denver before with no issues.

I see $15 flights each way very often from Philly to MCO. If I could be more flexible I'd be able to fly them often but we have many constraints with getting time off at work and with ds in HS.
My friend who is a sahm (2 in college, 1 a HS senior) was able to fly $15 each way for a trip with just her mom who is retired. They booked a spur of the moment getaway thurs to Monday back in Sept.
Around here flexibility is key.
We are flying SWA for our return in Dec using points. If we were willing to return at 8:00am, we could switch and it's only $44. I really like the timing of our 2pm flight or I'd switch.

Some people get that fare -- those are the ones who do not mind being strapped to the tail of the plane :crazy2:

As someone else said, if you are a person that enjoys adventure travel, go for Frontier. If you like a little more sanity, you might consider another airline.

Frontier is coming back on a regular basis to the airport I use. The cheapest fare without belonging to the club is $49 , usually with Tuesday or Wednesday departure. Not a bad fare, but as PP mentioned, by the time you add up the fees, I'm thinking the fare is right up there with other airlines. DH and I just hope it brings competition, so fares across all airlines on the same route will drop.:thumbsup2

I could book Frontier for $39 each way right now from Detroit to Orlando for my January trip, but I don't like the times available for the return (9am flight after three days in the parks, no thank you.)

(Since DD is an adult, I don't care if we sit together, etc etc. We'll be flying Spirit on that trip for a little more ($320.40 for two round trip tickets with one checked bag each) and I won't pay for any of the extras. It's a glorified bus, to me, just get me to Florida and I'll bring my own snacks.)

It's the getting there, or not, since they do cancel flights that makes it an adventure...
