Can you ride in the front of the monorail at Disneyland? I just saw a facebook post by Disneyland Today with a picture of a Pic at themed monorail & there are people in the front?

Yes, you can but you may have to wait. If I recall correctly only a maximum of 4 guest can ride in the front.

Its up to the conductor. We've done it once, and had to wait a round because they were changing conductors and the one leaving didn't like guests riding up front.

It was great fun, and I geeked out the whole time.

If you go when it’s hot out they don’t always load the front or back cabin. The best way to see if a monorail is loading the front is to look above the buttons to the right of the front cabin door and see if there is a magnet that says DNL on it. If it says DNL that means they are not loading the front cabin.

Yes. We did this last October on my daughter's birthday. We asked as we were waiting at the station in Tomorrowland.

Good to hear. At WDW they stopped allowing guests to ride in the front after the collision that killed a CM.

We were able to ride in front last week. 4 people were allowed. You had to ask one of the loading cast members.
lots of fun.

Yes, that's why I asked. Wonder why they didn't stop it here?

I often ride in the front cone. But I do it early (before 11:00 a.m.). If you wait until later in the day, you could wait up to 45 minutes. But sometimes you get lucky :-). In my case, being a habitual single-rider makes it easier. There may be a party of three ahead of me but I can always join them. The front only allows four riders. I believe the back cone allows five or six.

They only run the trains in one direction at DL and there are a maximum of two trains on the beam at any time. They also don't use autopilot at DL. When both trains are running, they coordinate departures from the two stations. One won't leave until they have confirmation from the other that it is also leaving.

That's not necessarily true, I have been on the monorail several times as of late where the monorail coming from Downtown Disney is doing the circles around Fantasyland as the other monorail is pulling out of the Tomorrowlnad station.

Well that's odd. I've never seen that.
