FRONT LOAD WASHER Some Q's

My dh and I were telling our friends that we were thinking about purchasing a top load washer and he told us he thought a better purchase would be a top loading Maytag Bravos. Like a front loader it does not have an agitator and it is supposed to conserve on water as well.

Do you have any information on this washer?

Thank you for your information and knowledge.

The Maytag Bravos and Whirlpool Cabrio (basically the same machine with some slight differences) are HE machines. It's front loader technology in a top loading design. Still low water useage, high spin speed and large capacity. They are large enough to wash a king size comforter. The only thing I dislike about these are they are belt driven. LG front loaders use direct drive system instead of a belt. Belts tend to stretch out over time and then the machine loses the optimal spin speed.

Hope that helps :)

We have the Maytag Neptune front loaders. They look like regular top loaders and the washer door does not have the plastic window but we love them. We did some research when we bought them and have never had a problem with smell. We keep the seal dry and sometimes leave the door open but not always.

I have a Whirlpool Front Loader, and I love it!

I have had it for almost 5 years, and its still going strong. No repairs yet.

It DOES get a musty smell. I wipe out the rubber gasket, and have run the special cleaner stuff in there on a really hot cycle, but nothing seems to help. I know it would probably help if I left the door open, but I don't, because I can't stand the smell. That's my only complaint.

It gets the clothes really clean, and saves on wear and tear because the clothes aren't being beaten around by that agitator thingie in the middle of a top loader.

I also really save on soap and softener, because it uses way less than my old top-loader did. I don't buy the HE stuff either, just use my regular liguid. Its also very convenient because it has that nifty little pre-measured spot so I add the soap and softener at the beginning of the cycle and never have to think about it after that. I remember the days of listening intently for that last rinse cycle so I could get the softener in at the right time. LOL

The reason you have the musty smell is because you don't leave the door open. So, get the washer cleaned out, then start leaving the door open after you are done washing.

Some one else said something about not being able to add clothes once the wash had begun, my kenmore front loader allows me to hit pause, add clothing then hit start again.

I have had my kenmore front loader for about 4 years now. I have never had a musty smell, nor anything stuck under the rubber gasket, and I use LIQUID HE detergent. I wouldn't go back to a top loader. My clothes seem to be cleaner and it takes less time to dry. Also, I splurged and bought the drawer pedestals which makes the washer an dryer easier to get clothes in and out. No bending down. Just make sure you read the manual before using the washer and dryer.

Which front loader would you recommend?? I like the LG ( especially the candy apple red ;)) , are they reliable??

Do you know anything about the big Wolf Ranges?? I love the dual fuel with double ovens but I'm scared of investing all that $$ and finding out its a lemon.

We have the Kenmore Elite HE5 and it's 2-1/2 years old. We also leave the door open just an inch or so. I have never used the clean cycle or wiped out the seal area and it doesn't smell. We really like it!

We had a frigidaire front loader- lasted 7 years- needed a $300 repair at just under 2 years old (it was covered under warranty). We now have a Kenmore front loader. We have never had any problems with smells.

We have an LG front loader. One thing that is very important is that the machine is level. My girlfriend has the same one as us and it wasn't leveled properly and really gave her some problems. It can't spin right if its not level!
Enjoy---
