Do the CM's at the front desk know how much you are paying for the room when you check in? I do not usually ask for any upgrades or special things because I thought that the CM was standing there looking at how cheep I got the room for and that they wouldn't give me anything extra because I wasn't paying full price for the room. Does any one know if that information comes up on the CM's computer when they are checking guest in?

I'm sure that they know. Whenever you check into any hotel, you're asked to sign a paper confirming a number of things (car license plate #, home address, number of night's you're staying, etc.), including the rate you're being charged.

Yes, they do know exactly how much you are paying. And yes, you are probably less likely to receive a free upgrade if you are not paying full rate for the room. Sometimes when upgrades are necessary you might get upgraded, but they are more likely to move the guests paying full rack rate first. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but it wouldn't hurt to ask anyway.

Just wanted to add that we have NEVER paid anything even close to rack rates for a Disney resort room and we have always had our room requests met and we have even gotten quite a few free upgrades, etc. Of course, we are usually there during the really slow times of year, which makes a difference.

I agree with GEM. We have been paying a low CM rate on our rooms for 5 years now, times 5 trips per year and 99% of the time we have always gotten our requests met (BTW, we never fax our request in, we just make them when we make our ressies). Several times we have been upgraded. Once at AKL from standard to pool view and most recently at Dixie landing from standard to water view, corner room. We have never asked to be upgraded. The computer tells the CMs almost everything about you and your past trips. Last month I went to guest relations to make at ressie at the 50s Prime Time and when the CM pulled up "my" screen (by my home phone number) she said, "you sure do like eating at the 50s Prime Time, I see you visit there often!" Also, when I called to get a room ressie last month the CM said, "let's check for CM rates, but we can also check for AP rates, since the computer shows that you're an AP holder!" OK, so anyone who thinks they don't have your history better reexamine that thought. There is no doubt that they also know all of my kids names and ages.
