Sorry for the delay on this, we had to have a piece of software custom written to cut up the existing long threads.
We have also decided how to handle long threads moving forward:
1. Threads will be closed at 250 pages (3750 posts)
2. Any existing thread over 250 pages will be locked as is.
3. The really long threads that were removed will come back over the next week or so. I have to shut the boards down to cut them up so I will try to do it during "off hours". We are also trying index them so people will be able to reference them.

I hope everyone is enjoying the much faster boards!

How will that effect threads like the occupancy one here? That is good information for newbies, should they want to read through the whole thing.

At this time, the Occupancy Thread isn't affected since it's only at 107 pages as of today. Once it reaches 250 pages it will be locked and another thread started with a link to the original thread so those interested can still read thru all of those years of posts.

As far as I can tell, the only current thread affected on the DVC boards will be the ROFR thread, at a little over 300 pages.

But it seems to me the older information would be less important there than the more recent news on that thread.

Sounds like a good way to do it. I'm all for anythhing that keeps the boards running faster!
