Count me in......well actually it will be Me, my hubby and my two girls ages 4 and 5. We booked this cruise while on board our last Disney Cruise this October. We figured it will be very cool to go to Florida and end up about 15 minutes from HOME in LA. We live here in Rossmoor (Los Alamitos) California so the idea of one way plane tickets and a 15 night DISNEY cruise was just to good to pass up. Very excited!!!!!

:wizard:welcome

We stayed at the holiday inn last time, we really enjoyed it, lots of loud music and hilarity by the pool, not everyones taste, but the beach boys blasting with a bud in your hand, going on the wonder the next day cant be bad?:cloud9:

I totally agree!! We were so excited about booking and only having to pay for one way airfare, and then after fifteen nights of a wonderful cruise, end up close to home!!!
Looking forward to getting to know you!! I'm hoping we can put together some kind of pre-cruise meet at DL sometime in the near future!!

Lol, you can hardly call that airfare!
Try doing disney cruises from scotland!

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel within walking distance of DL? In 2005 we stayed on the Queen Mary one night and then 1 night at the Park Inn just outside DL. I was thinking about booking the GC with our DVC points but would like other options. Looking at the 2010 points chart it woudl equal over $500 for a studio for 2 nights! It just seems like it might be a waste of points when there are many cheap hotels within walking distance. Park Inn was just okay but I’m looking for a little bit of a step up. We just need a place to sleep, nothing fancy. If we were staying for a week, I would definitely book the GC but for 1 or 2 nights, just not sure. We will either be at the parks all day or taking a drive along the coast.

Any other recommendation for things to do close to the port or DL?

Not to scare any of you, but I live about 20min from Disneyland in here in Southern California and I would do my homework before I stayed at ANY hotel other then a Disney Hotel. We have had several news stories done in the past two years about how sex offenders are often put up in hotels within a 1mile radius from Disneyland and WHY in the world this would be allowed to happen. They commented and said how alot of times because parents see that a hotel is close to Disneyland they never really think that a sex offender could be staying there, but last count was that there was close to 100 in that one area.

A pre cruise meet sounds good........we are at DL about once a week as it is so meeting up with a fellow Disney Cruiser is NOT a problem. We will actually be at California for Mickeys Halloween this Thursday, my girls are so excited we do the Mickeys Halloween party every year here in California but this year we just got back from doing it at WDW so they are happy that they get to have twice the fun!!!! Who all from your family will be going on the cruise?

I can only imagine how expensive it is for you. :scared1:

Im not moaning, but it is an expensive addiction!:rotfl:

This year we flew to La, then we could not believe how inexpensive it was to fly from la to las vegas, then to san fran, we were actually going to take a bus until my cousin said, no Lynne, this is america, you fly!

It will be just DH Randy (RanCan) and me. All of our kids are pretty much grown, Our youngest will be 19 when we cruise, and i'm sure she will be busy with school. We wish our oldest DD would come with 3 of our grandaughters, but she just can't pull them out of school for that long.

It is pretty inexpensive to fly short distances. When we cruised October in 2008, We were able to get a round trip flight from L.A. to Miami for 4 of us for just under $1,000. We cruised on the Magic, so we drove from Miami to Port Canaveral.......Randy likes to shop for bargains. LOL
I told him, I don't care how much more money it was going to cost us, I will never do that again!! :rolleyes1

I know SCHOOL........I really thought long and hard about my daughters missing that much school. It comes out to 13 days of school:scared1: BUT we just got back from a 7night Eastern Carribean Cruise followed by 7 more night at AK villas, so my oldest daughter who is 5 missed 10 days of Kinder. Her teacher and principle were my biggest supporters for her to miss, they said either she goes or we go on the trip......lol. They made sure that she had all her class work to take with her on the trip and made sure that I understood that it was NOT a big deal at all. So I figure this will be one of our last chances to do a 15night cruise because after 1st grade the work load only gets heavier and the lessons plan more intense.
So in Jan 2011 I will have one first grader and one in Kinder........NO biggie. I promise NO more school year cruises after this...............I think:laughing::laughing::laughing:

disfaninca..............oh yes I loved your ticker so I had to have it. Very cute Bring the Wonder HOME..........love it!!!!!

Well I come home from WDW tomorrow. I would love to do a pre cruise meet maybe next week.

When we went on the Magic a year ago, we took our DD out of school for 6 days. I was really worried about doing that because she was a junior in high school. So during back to school night, I spoke to each of her teachers and they were all supportive. She is in a Magnet school and they have block schedules so she doesn't go to all of her classes every day. They just told us what was due that week, and told her to turn it all in before she left, and to ask a friend to take notes for her. Even the the lady who works in the attendance office told us exactly what to right as an excuse. It was great, and she never fell behind.

You come home from WDW tomm......we must have just missed eachother. We were there on Oct.8 and 9th then on the Disney Eastern from the 10-17th then we headed back to AK kidani from the 17-24th........I have not been home a week and I am already obsessing about my next Disney Cruise.:surfweb: Oh but lets just keep that between us I am supposed to be working right now................:laughing::laughing:

My multi quote isn't working so here we go...

I would suggest HoJos as well..right across the street and they put in a nice water play area if you like. Nice restaurant called Mimi's practically on property. There are a couple of nice places in the vicinity. A brand new Red Lion Inn down the street...very nice inside..I took a tour a few months ago after they opened.

Let's see...we booked Radisson but plan to stay on property - just trying to figure out when we want to go.

A Dis-meet would be great...let me know when..schedule is a little crazy but will try and work it in.
