Hey again everyone!
Just wanted to post a quick summary of our awesome cruise!
DH was asked to be a "Disney Dad" for the Sail Away Party. Really it was just going on the stage and doing the YMCA dance but then he was asked to do Dancing with the Officers for the crew talent show. So, for any of you that saw it, he was the guy with the Afro and lime green sparkly shirt doing the disco dance for the opening act.
During the first DVC Member's gathering, we won the $200 OBC!! WOO HOO!!! But of course, didn't take long to spend to it!
We had absolutely AMAZING servers! We heard a bunch of people talking about their servers and how disappointed they were but we couldn't ask for more. We truly feel like we formed a friendship with them and look forward to seeing them again.
In Aruba, we were able to rent a jeep at the pier and had an awesome time exploring the island on our own. In Costa Rica, we had a private tour that didn't turn out exactly as planned but we still had a great time! Manzanillo was fine but definitely not at the top of our list! In PV, DD and I ended up doing the sea lion excursion and it was great! One of the guys from shore excursions was with us and he said that he has done a ton of dolphin excursions and this one ranks right up there in marine mammal interactions. In Cabo, we did a whale watching excursion and got pretty close to some of the whales. Max with
DCL did an awesome in getting us on an early tender so we would make our excursion.
One thing that did disappoint us a bit was that Guest Services lost our PC crossing certificates that we ordered from Kay. DH dropped them off in a tube the first night and he was told that the captain would sign them and that they would be returned to our room. During the last few days of the cruise, we inquired about them and were told that they were sent to our room and ask our room hostess. She stated she hadn't seen them so we inquired again. This time, we were told that GS hand delivered them to our room and that they should be there. Well, the weren't. Finally, on the last day, the stated they were lost. They presented us a framed, signed picture of us with the the fab five (thought they had framed the pic we dropped off but later discovered it was a new one when the one we did drop off showed up in our room a few hours later) and gave us an OBC to replace the certificates. Later in the evening, we received a gift from GS of a stuffed Mickey and Pluto with a note and address of where to send the new certificates. So, even though they lost them, I still feel like they went above and beyond to make up for our inconvenience.
I learned on this cruise, our family of 4 can NOT travel in a cat 11 again. I'm sure cat 10 would be fine (we liked our cat 9 in 09) since it has the split bath but I did not like the single bath. We rebooked on the March 3, 2012 Western sailing on the Magic for my 35th birthday! I will turn 35 on that day so what a great way to spend my birthday. We booked a secret porthole room and are really excited to try it out! We also booked a dummy date so we have something to work with.
We met a family from Nevada during the Safety Drill and by the next day, our daughters were running around together. I visited a bit with her mother during the end of the cruise and on the last night, she said "You know, I think there is this secret underworld of Disney cruising with all of the thingies hanging from the fishes, the magnets and all." I told her I would have to introduce her to the dis!
Well, it's off to do more laundry! I don't think I've ever had so much laundry in my life!!!
Oh yeah, and a great big THANK YOU to everyone that organized, planned, ect all of the activities. Valbob, we really enjoyed the Mixology! That was one of our favorite things!!!!
