From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

Welcome to Los Angeles!!

I was with you in sprit. My DH found a job and starts 1/24, so everything worked out, even if I had to miss meeting you all.

Here's to next time,

Katherine

Off the ship, spent 5 hours at the park showing the kids our magical world. Looked for cruise mates..........Shosie, sorry about your grandma.....deep breath. Adam, thanks for all the hugs.

Tony and I enjoyed meeting everyone and thank you all for making our trip so much fun. The FE gifts were much appreciated; SO many creative cruisers out there.

Tony says Costa Rica tour his favorite and the rainforest was a highlight.

Headed home manana to Northern California and hope to meet up with our friends again real soon.

We made it to our hotel and SLEPT!! So much to do on ship and met so many nice people! Loved hanging with Brooklyn's family - hope we get to cruise together again! Had a great time finding y'all and figuring who you are. And those suites!!! whoooo! loved the room tour and the meet and greet (what ever happened to the left over wine!!?). In doing so i met people not on the Boards (including a guy from Seattle who worked for the same guy in the same office as i did - he left in December and i started in April - years ago- how's THAT for small world! It was a fabulous cruise, with the exception of 2 shows by acts brought in that i wish i'd stayed by the pool for, it was a great time! Hope to meet you all again on another cruise next year!!
Sherri
(boo hoo we leave LA in the morning)

Relaxing at the VGC after a few hours in the parks. So tired!!

We really want to say a huge thank you for all the amazing fish extenders gifts. What a great bunch of folk you are. Some very inventive gifts there and everything so wonderful to receive. Thanks again.

At home unpacking :-(. But we had a fantastic time! Didn't get a chance to meet near everybody but thoroughly enjoyed meeting those I did! As far as smug mug, I will get that set up tomorrow! I'm too pooped tonight:-)!

We are now at Paradise Pier hotel in Disneyland. Ran into Joann- from Australia. Waiting To Meet Dumbo is also staying here. They gave us a free upgrade for our room. We look out over the park.
We were tired , took a nap, caught up on email. We then walked to Downtown Disney and had dinner at Naples. It was very good.
Tomorrow we hope to go to California Adventure. We have dinner reservations with Waiting to Meet Dumbo for the World of Color Show.
On Sunday we hope to go to Disneyland .Then it is off to Las Vegas for 3 days and then back to FL.

We want to thank everyone for the great fish extender gifts and a special thank you to our secret Mickey. The scale came in very handy.

We had a great time on the ship seeing old friends from past cruises and meeting all of the new Disboarders. A special thank you to everyone who arranged the special events for us. These events were a special part of the cruise.
I know there were some problems with the new staff on the Wonder, but all in all we had a great time. Hope to meet up with you again- maybe Hawaii in 2012

Been home since 11. Been doing laundry. Wish I got to meet you guys but oh well.

We are home!! Had to cook my own dinner which kinda sucked.;)

WOW! I echo the sentiment of many on the FE gifts. So many of you are super creative!! That is such great fun.

So great to meet so many of you and see others ALL OVER the ship!! Jenn - we did not meet but I saw "the shoes" in Palo!!:thumbsup2

LindaBabe and MomE thanks for having breakfast with me when my crew never showed!!

Now off to start more laundry. Blech. Unpack our cruise stuff and then back to unpacking this house!

Not currently booked - but you never know...

Hey anyone else hear companies pulled their cruise ships from San Diego due to lack of business for Mexico!? hmmm.....

This was the first time we took part in the fish extender and oh my was it amazing to see how creative some of you are. Thanks for making this cruise so much fun!

Tami & Mike - we enjoyed having you as our neighbor for the last 15 days.

Val & Bob - we had an awesome time on the Aruba sailing and snorkeling.

Lori - thanks for setting up the whale watching in Cabo, we had a great time. It was fun running into you at DL today, Happy Birthday and Anniversary.

We spent the day at DL and came back to our room as we are very tired. We have an awesome corner room in the Dream tower which should have a great view for the fireworks.

We had such a great time with everyone!!! We just got home and reality hit us (my grandmother broke her femur this morning and DH's mom called us in a tiff because she's insane)

Congrats to all the cabins that played MouseAdventure (it wasn't as hard as it first looked was it?) Thanks Tracy for passing them out

We are booked on the Wonder for April 2012!

We loved ziplining in CR, too -- can't believe how fast everything went by.

BTW - we were all over the news this morning in L.A.
:wizard:

So sorry to hear about your grandmother. Hopefully she'll have a smooth recovery.

Thanks you guys again for putting everything together. Jason & I had a blast solving everything. We're definitely hoping to make it to a MA soon.

Thanks to everyone for an awesome cruise. It was a great two weeks.

Quick MSG from OneWorld lounge at LAX after a great day sightseeing. Sorry we didn't catch up with many of you - there were a few reasons why we decided to keep pretty much to ourselves tho'. We had a FAB time - rebooked dummy cruise and joined DVC to boot.

Lost my camera onboard y'day, and very upset about it. So glad we bought quite a lot at shutters. Also left all DISboard contact info and 1/3 of FE gifts at BWI - not a great way to partake in FE - sorry to those on deck 6 and half deck 7 who missed out :(

Hope you all have safe journeys home - back to heat and humidity for us.

Cheers,
Sally :)

Sally sorry about your camera. Have safe travels. I too understand and the not meeting thing. I think I only meet about 4. Still had a great time with my friends.

What a wonderful trip!
Thanks to everyone for the awesome FE gifts.

Tenya we enjoyed your family at dinners. I hope Carly's foot gets better soon.

The airline gate checked our carry-ons and DH's did not get here. It has our video camera, underwater housing, digital camera, prescription dive mask and dive computers in it along with many other things. I sure hope they find it! What an expensive lost this will be.

I hope everyone had a great time and makes it home safe.

Thanks again to everyone for making our trip special!

Had a good night sleep so ready to hit DCA and DTD before our afternoon flight to San Jose.

Happy Goofy--maybe we will run into you guys!!!

Bob & I would like to thank all of the wonderful people that we met for making this a great cruise.

We will post the Champagne Girls, Mixology and Tour pictures as soon as we can.

Hope to see all of you again some day.

Val & Bob

Hey again everyone!
Just wanted to post a quick summary of our awesome cruise!

DH was asked to be a "Disney Dad" for the Sail Away Party. Really it was just going on the stage and doing the YMCA dance but then he was asked to do Dancing with the Officers for the crew talent show. So, for any of you that saw it, he was the guy with the Afro and lime green sparkly shirt doing the disco dance for the opening act.

During the first DVC Member's gathering, we won the $200 OBC!! WOO HOO!!! But of course, didn't take long to spend to it!

We had absolutely AMAZING servers! We heard a bunch of people talking about their servers and how disappointed they were but we couldn't ask for more. We truly feel like we formed a friendship with them and look forward to seeing them again.

In Aruba, we were able to rent a jeep at the pier and had an awesome time exploring the island on our own. In Costa Rica, we had a private tour that didn't turn out exactly as planned but we still had a great time! Manzanillo was fine but definitely not at the top of our list! In PV, DD and I ended up doing the sea lion excursion and it was great! One of the guys from shore excursions was with us and he said that he has done a ton of dolphin excursions and this one ranks right up there in marine mammal interactions. In Cabo, we did a whale watching excursion and got pretty close to some of the whales. Max with DCL did an awesome in getting us on an early tender so we would make our excursion.

One thing that did disappoint us a bit was that Guest Services lost our PC crossing certificates that we ordered from Kay. DH dropped them off in a tube the first night and he was told that the captain would sign them and that they would be returned to our room. During the last few days of the cruise, we inquired about them and were told that they were sent to our room and ask our room hostess. She stated she hadn't seen them so we inquired again. This time, we were told that GS hand delivered them to our room and that they should be there. Well, the weren't. Finally, on the last day, the stated they were lost. They presented us a framed, signed picture of us with the the fab five (thought they had framed the pic we dropped off but later discovered it was a new one when the one we did drop off showed up in our room a few hours later) and gave us an OBC to replace the certificates. Later in the evening, we received a gift from GS of a stuffed Mickey and Pluto with a note and address of where to send the new certificates. So, even though they lost them, I still feel like they went above and beyond to make up for our inconvenience.

I learned on this cruise, our family of 4 can NOT travel in a cat 11 again. I'm sure cat 10 would be fine (we liked our cat 9 in 09) since it has the split bath but I did not like the single bath. We rebooked on the March 3, 2012 Western sailing on the Magic for my 35th birthday! I will turn 35 on that day so what a great way to spend my birthday. We booked a secret porthole room and are really excited to try it out! We also booked a dummy date so we have something to work with.

We met a family from Nevada during the Safety Drill and by the next day, our daughters were running around together. I visited a bit with her mother during the end of the cruise and on the last night, she said "You know, I think there is this secret underworld of Disney cruising with all of the thingies hanging from the fishes, the magnets and all." I told her I would have to introduce her to the dis!

Well, it's off to do more laundry! I don't think I've ever had so much laundry in my life!!!

Oh yeah, and a great big THANK YOU to everyone that organized, planned, ect all of the activities. Valbob, we really enjoyed the Mixology! That was one of our favorite things!!!!

Carmen. Since I did not have the chance to meet you and your family, I had no clue that was your husband in the crew show. He was great. To sum up our cruise experance, they were not ready for a cruise this long. Our servers were wonderful. The food was great. Now our problem was with the horrible way they scheduled events. Clyaton even told my friend at the boat building race on the last day he would have to choose between seeing his child at Friendship Rocks or being in the contest that his family worked hard for a week or so. Really? He did not even try to help. My friend almost blew a fuse. This is just one of the few examples of major declines I noticed on DCL.

For those of you who participated in the Champagne Girls and Mixology.

Did any of you have any problem with your room charges for the Champagne Girls or the Mixology? The price they quoted was $15 each for Champagne Girls and $5 each for mixology. If you where charged anything else, please let me know and I try to help with the corrections.

Val

What the heck? My cabin has not been made up yet, no one put a napkin in my lap this morning nor took an order for breakfast. Getting back to reality sure was a rude awakening! But, we are home, safe and sound - to single digit weather but the snow looks about as deep now as it did when we left so we were lucky.

Thanks so much to everyone - the fish extender gifts were awesome and so creative. For as long as we have been doing that, the creativity gets me every time! The mixology was so much fun - and I do make an awesome Konk Kooler, if I do say so myself. And, I love my SM gifts too - the mickey bag is packed for the office (what is office and why do I have to go there??) tomorrow morning.

My favorite thing, besides the canal crossing itself as that still amazes me, was the helmet dive in Aruba. Guess I am going to have to learn how to scuba dive.

But, the dryer just beeped so I guess I best go and tend to that.
