Postcard Exchange Update
How it works: cruisers buy postcards of their area/country/town/city etc. and deliver them to each person/cabin on the list. Some people elect to make their own postcard using photos they have taken. Others print local recipes on a card. It is great fun to come back to your cabin and find mail.

So far we have 28 cabins signed up. If you would like to join us (or I have inadvertently left you off the list – sorry) pm me.

Hi everyone! It's Safety Mouse's wife! Don't have the opportunity to type as much but I love taking a quick second to read everything! Looking forward to meeting all of you!!!!! This will be the first time we will be cruising with our son old enough to be in the children's programming. Would love to hear some tips or experiences surronding these (hours its open, do they feed them etc) And thanks for the calendar!!! its tough to explain to a 3 year old how far it is til we go on "the big boat" been crossin the days off at night!!! Its getting so close! :woohoo: Also, i don't know about you but these little dancing/moving icons are seriously too fun!!!pixiedust:

NOW I HAVE A QUESTION FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE USED VISTA...
Did your images look blurry on the screen? I cannot seem to get clear images and I wanted to know what yours looked like before you "accepted" the proof. I can "follow the bouncing ball" just fine on the website to make the shirt, but why is the image blurry?

Thanks!

~Melissa

Melissa,
I ordered the PDF proof of my images before I accepted approval and ordered. I think it was $1.99. I did it because I wouldnt say my images looked blurry, but they weren't large enough for me to definitively say they were clear, either. So I figured to be safe I should spend a couple more bucks and order the proof since they say that is what it will look like on the shirt, and my proof was clear and on the shirt it was clear too. One thing also I guess I should have said this first, but make sure you also have the largest size file to upload to the site to begin with, so that will give you the best quality up front. I did my design in Word, since I'm not a computer artsy person, so I made sure my design fit the whole page--even my 'front pocket' shirt logo I made full-page size so that it would be clearer on the shirt, and then I just resized it on Vista.

On more thing about Vista, I got my replacement shirt yesterday for the one that had the crooked front logo, and this one was fine thank goodness. So I would rate their customer service excellent- it was a quick phone call this week to explain the problem, and only 4 days later I had a new shirt in my hands that was perfect. Seems they may have issues with quality control though since another DISer told me her shirts had a strange yellow border on them originally but like me, she was able to get replacements- so it sounds like they need to work on their quality/consistency but at least if there is a problem in our experience its been resolved quickly and easily.

We had to miss the DIS meet :sad1: but was wondering if any DISers would be at Disneyland this Sunday?

PM me if you will be around there on Sunday. We would love to meet some folks before the cruise. :)

We cannot come this weekend, but a large majority of our traveling party will be there for the Candlelight Service the first of Dec. We will be there all weekend. Will any other DISers be there then??

Hi Safety Mouse's wife. How exciting for you all, and so cute your little 3 year old is getting into the countdown thing!!!! Sorry I can't help with your questions, but I am sure others will. I bet you are looking forward to a little 'our' time when he is in the kids club too.

Thanks Nicole, that is a huge help...I have the largest size already, but I will order the proof before purchasing. If you still have it, can you email me your original "Dis" image (the one with the map)? Mine is most definitely blurry! I have now uploaded that image from a number of places, but I cannot get a clear copy. Maybe yours will work better? :confused3

Val, thanks for the ebates.com recommendation. I LOVE that site and I have already used it for more than just VistaPrint. It is great to know that I can go there first and see if anything has an additional discount before purchasing online. Especially this time of year:santa:

And to whomever it was who gave me the advice on the rashguards, thank you! I went ahead and ordered the men's size from 6pm.com for $14 each (can't beat that price) so that I could also get the CUTEST Calvin Klein silver sandals for $30 (I wanted to combine shipping). So, all-in-all it was a great purchase...two rashguards, new strappy sandals, a Christmas present taken care of, NO tax and only $6.95 shipping :woohoo:
BTW: The Disney store outlet (online) has that adorable Captain Hook costume that some people posted on Halloween for $16...I don't know the sizes though.

Have a Blessed Day!!!

Hi :cool1::cool1: youre going to love having adult time!

Oh yes, one more thing...
Also at the Disney store outlet (online), they have this Cinderella Trophy (solid bronze colored Cinderella standing on a base~a lot like the "Golden Mickey" one) for $8 (regular $40) and you can have it engraved! I wasn't sure if any of you who have Princesses would want something like that for some event in your child's future (or maybe Prince and Princess night), but I though I'd pass along the info. Here's the link to the site: http://www.disneystore.com/mn/1001152/#mainContentContainer

Are you interested in a private DCL mixology tasting? Learn all about how those colorful drinks of the day are made and just who gets to name them. For some additional fun, we’ll have a Hawaiian Shirt Contest, seems to go with all those little paper umbrellas and tropical fruit.
UPDATE: DCL SPECIAL REQUEST DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN ADVISED THAT 25 MEMBERS OF OUR DISBOARD ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING THIS PRIVATE TASTING. THE FOLLOWING IS A LIST OF THOSE WHO I HAVE HEARD FROM. PM ME IF YOU WISH TO BE ADDED OR IF CORRECTIONS TO THIS LIST ARE NEEDED.

I wasn't sure as nobody could tell me the cost.

The Mixology is a lot of fun. I did it on the Baltic cruise. I just have to decide if I am going to do it with the group or one of the public sessions.

ROOM TOUR UPDATE
How it works: Cruisers volunteer to let others visit their cabin and see what the different categories are like. On a sea day, at an established time, (final time set after other event times are published) starting on the lowest deck, we visit the different category of cabins. It is great fun to parade down the halls meeting each other and getting a real look at those rooms we all take only a quick peak into as we pass an open door. Additionally, it allows us to share cabin living ideas such as use of an over-the-door shoe storage hanger to put all the “stuff” that ends up set everywhere; or printing a few 4x6x pictures each night at Shutters and decorating one wall as the cruise progresses. Lynne, Orandthebeagle, who has organized room tours on other cruises, has wisely and kindly offered the advise that we not firmup which rooms we will tour until the GTY rooms have been assigned and upgrades made. But here is a list of people who have generously offered their room at this time and the categories we are still looking for. If you would like to open your room for the tour PM me. If you would like to view the rooms open, but not open yours, let me know that too. Val

Cuesta Park Meet & Greet - 11/14 in Mountain View
________________________________________
We are looking forward to meeting those of you who can make it to Mountain View. I will have green balloons tied to our tables at the front of the park. I'm sending my DH over early enough to stake out a couple of tables for us. We'll be by the children's area and the main parking lot. We should be visible from the street. However, if those tables are already taken, look for us at the back of that parking lot, where the large hedge is. We'll be at the picnic tables inside that area.

Let's hope for nice dry weather like they had for today's Giants Victory Parade in San Francisco.

See you on the 14th.
Shirley

Just saying hi. I have been gone because I have been trying to reaclamate myself to work and such after being gone 25 days. The stupid world series did not help. Thank goodness for the Lakers. Anyway I was also stressing that I would not get one of the two weeks I needed of vacation to take this cruise. Well I got both weeks. So that is a little off my chest.

Welcome Back Alan!!! Glad the vacation plans are still a GO! I finally booked return flights from LAX -- DH said we had to return to reality at some point post-cruise / post-DL visit:rotfl2: Now booking SWA flights for Spring Break to NYC for DD's performance at Carnegie Hall :cutie: -- anything else to keep you working:thumbsup2 (thanks again SWA for keeping flight costs reasonable and travel FUN!!)

Hey everyone, Jeff and I took a little mini-vacation. We went out for dinner last night! It was a wine dinner at our favorite little bistro in Tampa. We were seated with another couple. Found out about half way through dinner that the gentleman was a retired two-star general. I stopped calling him Jim after that! What an amazing life he and his wife have lead!

Glad you two were able to get-away for a short time! Retired Generals are an interesting group and OH the stories they can tell!!

Hi All, sorry for being MIA and not sorting out those who've contacted me lately about bracelets. I will be ordering next week and will contact everyone I've heard from in the last week or two. Life has just gotten in the way. Between jury duty, homeschooling, and trying to get a holiday market organized, sheesh!

Also, north Texas lunch: Carmen and I (and maybe Robin) are meeting for tomorrow at Red Robin on Mustang in Grapevine at 11:30. Ask for "Dis" if you can come.
tenya

Sorry to miss the North Texas Meet:goodvibes Have a great time! We may be UP that way next weekend -- DD's high school football just made the playoffs and the game is played on neutral ground -- will let you know if we are in the neighborhood (or close)!!:yay:

Small "proud Mom" moment -- DD made the Principal's Honor Roll list for the 1st Quarter:woohoo: of High School!!!

Have a WONDERful Saturday everyone -- mid-60s and beautifully sunny here in Houston! See you REAL SOON...

That must have been quite interesting! If you don't mind telling, where did you go? DH and I are always looking for new places to try. Thanks!

It looks like after today the Gators will be 6-3. Not great, but good for what we are working with this year.

Any one know if he will be onboard? Heard he is great to watch, so very talented:goodvibes

Asked and answered but another poster confirming that in our private chat he mentioned that he was going on PC cruise and was looking into it. He also told me to "look forward to a special gift". He's so cute - he was all excited about it.

Triple ditto here :rotfl2: I'm putting $$ on "room is occupied, not down-for-service" ~~ the evil twin will certainly knock:lmao: to find out if anyone is 'home':lmao:

Evil twins can be supply a lot of laughs. I have an evil twin that is relatively harmless but that just :lovestruc's to come out during Disney cruises. :teeth:

Lynne, I don't know if this will help, but our crew (from both Nor and So Cal) are not planning on bringing ANY warm wear. We are, however, planning on buying the PC cruise sweatshirts on the ship as our "traditional" clothing purchase. There is a chance you will have rain when arriving in CA and most certainly very wet "mist" if you go to San Diego, but a light jacket or sweatshirt will serve you well unless you are the type who gets cold easily.

Des, the candies looked amazing!! Even chipped! That was a wonderful and thoughtful gift idea!

FYI - last Jan was one of the longest, wettest and continually cooler Januarys that I can recall. I think it rained starting Dec and didn't let up until after March. So please be prepared. On the past PC cruises, as soon as we hit the Pacific Ocean, things got very cool. The closer we came to Cabo - the cooler it was. And the more coughing you heard. So please be prepared for any weather. This summer, fall and winter has been pretty weird for us. Here it is November and we are having record heat days. 100 degree weather. Last night at the homecoming football game, it was 79 degrees. Never needed my lightweight jacket. Moral of the story? Be prepared it may be a bumpy ride.

Des? I agree - the candies looked great even chipped. And as someone posted, who cares what candy looks like - first its chocolate, second, its DCL and third? Its free and a gift. But a wonderful idea you had.

Having nothing to do with anything: just about a year no two years ago my whole immediate family - DH, DD1, DD2, DS and DD1 b/f, and DS friend met our good friends DH, DW, DD and DS and did OKW grand villa and 2 extra rooms. Then b/f parents joined us but having not told us ended up at another hotel. all met for leavng last day. DH, DD1 and 2, DS and friend to maryland, b/f to california, b/f parents to st louis, freinds to chattanooga (what aGREAT vaca we had!!!! for real!). Disney put b/f luggage on our flight, unbeknownst to us. or him. Disney:0 , luggage 1. took us several days, and only because it was stolen by homelss guy who got picked up with it, did it get found (b/f didn't lock it or put name tag on it with his cell). fast foward to THIS week:. b/f going to spend time with DD/CM. b/f arrives in Orlando. Guess what doesn't? and guess what isn't locked and doesnt have a name tag on it!! LoL!!! nice guy but slow learner! luggage 2, disney 0, b/f -0 !!

last time i went down we accidentlly grabbed someone elses's suitcase, looked like mine. i had name/cell on it so before the magical express took off,i got a call saying the guy had my suitcase, did i have his. so i asked ME to pull the suitcase out from under and sure enough, no name tag and i can't remember if there was a lock on it or not. so i met the guy who called and he was so relieved. it was his wife's and ALL her meds were in it!!

so remember, put your name/number (cell unless you call home to get messages) on outside of luggage and lock it and dont pack all your meds!!

b/f two stories and mine are amusing cause they had happy endings. I will never let b/f forget he he he!! but a not such happy ending is not good!

All caught up for the moment.

Funny, my phone says showers today, high of 71 but Steve came in about 10:30 saying he was turning on the AC as it was burning hot at the time. So I'm sitting here typing and looking out my window at what is a bright blue with white fluffy clouds kinda day. Can't decide who will be right. Sunshine wins right now.

Toodles, today is homecoming dance and I have to get DD up for her hair appt. She got in late (12:45 am) along with me and had to get up at 6 am for a 2 hr driving lesson. She came home and crashed. So now off we go to transform her into a viable pretty princess.

Toodles!
