From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 4

Just realized, have to renew passports. Has anyone else done this recently? How long did it take to them back?

I did mine before the prices went up last summer (right before) and it was 6 weeks before I got mine back. I did DS's for his birthday present about a month ago but I don't know if he got it back or not, texted, no response. I will let you know though. But, whatever the website says, I would take the longest amount of time.

I have to renew DD as well (It expires 5.5 months AFTER we return, but unfortunately the PC cruise is one that requires the 6mo window...ugh!). Still waiting for ex to sign paperwork, but they said it takes 4-6 weeks so you still have time.

Sally, the message was heartfelt and sincere! Please let me know if there is anything you need!

I'm sitting at the Sac Convention Center waiting to start my presentation so I've gotta go! Wish me luck!

-Melissa

Good luck Melissa!

Well, everyone is leaving me again this weekend - and this time they dropped their dog off too so I am home alone with 3 pups. Should be interesting.

ROOM TOUR UPDATE
How it works: Cruisers volunteer to let others visit their cabin and see what the different categories are like. So, on a sea day, at an established time, starting on the lowest deck, we visit the different category of cabins. It is great fun to parade down the halls meeting each other and getting a real look at those rooms we all take only a quick peak into as we pass an open door. Additionally, it allows us to share cabin living ideas such as use of an over-the-door shoe storage hanger to put all the “stuff” that ends up set everywhere; or printing a few 4x6x pictures each night at Shutters and decorating one wall as the cruise progresses. Here is a list of people who have generously offered their room at this time and the categories we are still looking for. We will finalize the list once GTY and upgrade assignments are made. Val

CHAMPAGNE GIRLS UPDATE Calling all Champagne Girls and Wanna-bes (all are welcome)

Champagne Girls get-together. Ladies wear pink boas and tiaras and enjoy conversation and beverages, especially champagne. The meeting is held on a sea day in the afternoon. Some sessions have been privately hosted in a member's suite with concierge-provided glasses. On some cruises DCL provided an organized champagne tasting; on one cruise this was provided by the Sommelier from Palo. On the TA crossing, Sean led a public wine-tasting in Lumiere's. The PC cruise ladies have voted for the organized tasting but will meet on our own if this is not possible. We have had our own photographer, while other times a photographer from Shutters was in attendance.

UPDATE - We have not heard back for DCL yet and do not anticipate we will until sometime in November. Regardless of their reply, the Champagne Girls wil not be stopped, be sure to get your boas ready and tiaras polished!

ARUBA SAIL & SNORKEL UPDATE
Where can we go for a sailboat ride, lunch, snorkeling and some fishing in the most beautiful coastline this side of Venezuela? Tranquilo, a 43-foot charter sailboat in Aruba. With 14 or more people, Tranquilo will sail us an hour south from the Wonder to a snorkeling or dockside playtime, with the option of fishing, too. Snorkel in waist high water or choose to try a different type of snorkeling, drift snorkeling. The Tranquilo will launch a small boat and accompany “drift snorkeling” passengers as the gentle currents carry us through deeper water, allowing us to relax as we watch for exotic fish and corals in “Aruba’s most virgin reef.” Try both.
Cost: $75 each, plus tip. Includes sail, snorkel equipment, fishing, beverages and lunch. For additional details see posting #1 on page 1.
UPDATE The following 4 cruiser families (8 individuals) have expressed strong interest in joining the tour, 6 more individuals are needed to confirm the booking. PM if you would like more info or wish to come with us on this exciting ride. Val

PUNTARENAS, COSTA RICA TOURS UPDATE
Ride in an air-conditioned spacious vehicle, being driven by an experienced driver, to Costa Rica’s most popular national park, Manuel Antonio, where our knowledgeable nature guide will give us a narrative of the geologic features, national history, local botany, as well as exotic tropical birds, monkeys and sloths we will see.

Than enjoy the Manuel Antonio beach, equally good for snorkeling, swimming and just laying on the beach before a lunch stop at a quality restaurant where we can choose among traditional Costa Rican favorites or more familiar foods, such as burgers and fries or sandwiches.

On the way back to the ship we will have an opportunity, if time permits, to stop at a number of photo opportunities and souvenir shopping spots. These might include Villa Lupas and Santa Lucia, an eco-friendly resort within a tranquil rain-forest preserve for nature lovers.

The cost of this full-day tour, with park entry fee and lunch included is $85 per person plus tip. Children under 8 years old receive 15% off, under age 3 are free. Good vibes for all those who need them. We too have had a bad week but hopefully everything will work out for our daughter who has 3 little children and is going through a bad divorce.

We tried to get the Fantasmic dinner package for Dec. 9 at WDW and they are all booked up. I guess I will just keep trying. Also when we go to DL after the cruise I wanted to book the dinner package for World of Color but I read you could only do that 60 days ahead. Does anyone know if that is true?

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PRE-CRUISE MEETING

Plans are crystallizing for a Northern California (all are welcome) pre-cruise meeting to introduce ourselves. We need you to let us know your preference regarding the date, Saturday, 11-13-10 or Sunday, 11-14-10.
Also, your choice of the meeting’s location. Two suggestions are: the Disney Family Museum in San Francisco and Cuesta Park in Mountain View. Do you have another idea or would you like to suggest a location or meeting activities?
Let me know your ideas by next Wednesday 10-27. At that time we will share the tally and vote on a location.

Here's the Disney Dine Direct # if you want it...714-956-6755...they are usually very helpful and answer all my questions, including non dining related ones (I say that because the wait is usually shorter here than on the main line =0)
*Lots of love and luck for you DD-- I've been there so I know how tough it is, but she will probably be MUCH happier when she comes out on the other side.

I have friends who work for Sterling (Vineyards). Do you want me to see if they can get you a free wine tasting event? Technically, the wine tasting is free for everyone, but they have to pay for the gondola ride to the winery, so I guess I would be checking to see about free rides =0)
Good Luck.......... bit late though.

Thanks to all for the luck and its not too late..I have two more!

I hope you all have a wonderful day and weekend-- I get to go home tomorrow! Yippee!!

We are booked!!!!!:banana::banana: It took me a day longer than I thought but it's okay, it's done.

Hi, we are Judy and Michael from Alameda, CA and are soooo excited about this cruise. We are in a Cat 9 Gty. Right now we are scheduled for Late Dining but are wait listed for Main. DH doesn't like to eat late.

I just returned from the WBTA with three girlfriends and had a blast. All my cruise items are in a box in storage just waiting for the next one.

If it's not too late we would like to participate in the FE, and I would like to participate with the Champagne Girls and Room Tour and anything else???
I have PM'd reference lanyards, bracelets and nametags. Anything else you can think of that is still available? hahaha that is probably enough for me.

DH and I will be looking over the port adv and making decision soon. He hasn't had a chance to look at any of this since he said ok we good go.

Thanks for all the help and advise. I look forward to seeing some of you again and meeting others.

Judy:dance3::dance3::dance3:

:wave2: Judy! :welcome: aboard. DH and I were also on the TA. So maybe I'll recognize faces. After all, it was 2 weeks to run into people. Anyway, glad you were able to book.

Everyone else, just skimmed and hope to catch some of you at the meet on Sunday. I'm hoping to be there, if not with DH, at least with me, myself and I. :)

Ta-ta - gotta run (literally)

Eveyrone be safe and careful.

Everytime you post this I sway from what we are supposed to be doing - the helmet dive at DePalm, I just think this sounds like so much fun. I will think hard again and let you know.

We're flexible and could make either Sat or Sun work and prefer the Disney Museum. It's about a 2 to 2.5 hour drive for us depending on the traffic.

We leave for DL on 11/15, but that doesn't take too much packing.

I will keep her in my thoughts - I hope things get easier for her.

We'll be at the VGC/DL 11/15 - 11/19. Let me know what day/time works for you. I'll have my sister's family and our DGS with us, but DH & I can ditch them for a while.:goodvibes

Thank you for all the warm welcomes! I look forward to meeting you all soon, some sooner than others.

I am going to WDW!!!!! Just made plans this morning to take my adult son to play next week. May be the last chance for a mother/son playdate before his life changes...for the better. I'll be at WDW from Monday thru Friday morning if any of you are there and would like to meet. He'll be flying on my flexi pass so hope we don't get bumped off. I have to fly thru Phoenix to pick him up and continue on, so it'll be a long day for me. But at the end of the day I'll be at WDW so it's worth it.

So just a reminder for those renewing 10 year old (or even 5 in many cases) passports: get an approved RFID cover for it. At work, the Dept of Defense, they actually gave out paper sleeves with something on the inside. So you dont need something real fancy/expensive, just make sure it says RFID protection is covered. Those new chips can have the info stolen REALLY easily.
It's also suggested you have THREE copies now - one at home, one locked in the hotel (ship?) and one on you. dont now if thats overkill (and of course on ship its only when getting off at a port). but i think we'll do it!

Welcome to... oh my brain - but anyway welcome!

good luck with the divorce. i amsure it's tough with 3 kids but if thats the best thing, they'll be better with 2 happy separate parents.

have fun on all the trips and good luck with everything. i can't think straight to remember all the posts!!
