Found a cute Mickey from The Disney Club that says Pirates of the Caribbean. She is welcome to it. It is with the "things to pack" & I will keep looking for others.

Thank you so much! And THANKS from Haley too, she is really excited! Anything that you collect? :goodvibes

Did anyone buy travel insurance from Travel Guard? I think we may have use used them in the past, but I am really debating if I should or should not do this. Any ideas out there???

I always use Travel Guard, that fact they are really AIG doesn't bother me. And they have been wonderful when I needed them. Have filed 3 claims, 2 for 100% reimbursement of a disney cruise and the other expenses for a large medical claim in Alaska. The fact that my DH is a walking medical claim is an issue others might not have.
That said, I was the AVP of Underwriting, Policy Processing and Systems Development at a large personal lines insurance company so I know what to look for in an insurance policy having written a lot of them myself, and what riders to purchase for us (no not TG nor AIG). Not everyone might need the things I find important. Travel Guard covers pre-existing conditions, which DCL insurance didn't. However, some of the reasons I prefer TG only apply if you buy the insurance within 14 days of your downpayment on the trip. So ask questions. I also want a travel insurance that is primary for medical claims, the rider I buy makes them primary. I don't want to have to bother with filling a claim with UHC, my medical insurance. Also want a travel insurance that covers the things that are excluded by UHC, like medical claims which occur out side the US or its territories. Lastly, but maybe more importantly, TG has always been wonderful to work with. There is an informed and empowered live person who I can understand and can understand me, that I can reach by phone anywhere in the world, 7/24. They have always been the most helpful and business like. Oh, one last thing, while not as important, you might be wondering - they are cheaper then DCL> Val

Thank you. That is most helpful. Don't anticipate medical issues my insurance won't cover, but want trip insurance peace of mind.

Right now I find that over the years I have collected way too much - Beanie Babies, Boyds Bears, Disney everything and now I need to narrow down big time!

I am sorry if I caused any misunderstanding when I said Ryan & I could meet at WDW. I ment before the cruise. I only wish I was going down now. I love the Wine & Food Festival. We did that two years ago and loved it so much.:goodvibes

If anyone is looking for any special older pins that I might have, I will be happy to bring them to you. Just let me know. I have a lot of DVC pins.

I limit myself to only DCL pins and DH collects Stitch pins.

I have all the DCL pins from the 05 and 08 Panama Canal cruises.

If you have any please let me know. Is there anything else you collect that we could use for trade? :)

My youngest grandson has all the Stitch pins, sorry. I will grab up some loose pins for traders.

No, you can't buy them, you can have them!

Thanks Harole Ann!!!

I wish I could talk to Disneyana about the cruise but since Santa is bringing it I have to keep my mouth shut(very hard to do)!! I homeschool her and she always wants to know why I turn the computer screen so she can't see it!!! If none of us slip up she will be over the top on Christmas morning!!!

I have bought my kids several pins from EBay so that they could perhaps trade on the ship. Never done it before, so it will be interesting.

They will get some for Christmas, and I plan to bring some to the ship so that we leave one on their bed each night.

One of the couples we went on the Mediterranean with did the same thing for a Christmas gift for their children and I thought they (the parents) would explode before Christmas. I can just imagine what your house will be like.

We gave my dd and sil a Disney Cruise as a Christmas gift. It was the best ever and they both say it was the best ever vacation. Best memories for all of us!

Good morning all! Is there any good info posted on page 36? hee hee my laptop is now being selective on what pages I can see due to malware warning from magicalkingdom.com info ???

.

I'm getting that too! Malware on Disboards?!?!?

Is anyone else finding the DISboards squirelly this morning? When I page up or go to the PM page it requires me to sign-on everytime. I have the "remember me" on. Val

Last cruise I kept quiet for about 18 months. The kids found out as we were driving up to the Mickey boat. We told them we were going to the beach for a few days, just didn't say which beach! They were excited, but they must have some of that good ol British reserve in them. I was videoing as we saw the ship, and the response was not as loud or enthusiastic as I hoped :confused3. Oh well, at least my ear drums didn't get overloaded :lmao:.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

HOA meeting last night was acrimonious but interesting. If I ever move it will NOT be to an HOA community. Nice People seem to get elected to the board and morph into petty tyrants.

It really depends on the community. Ours is fairly harmless - they only become tyrants if someone really neglects something - or tries to paint their house a different color from the original.

I always use them, but haven't had a claim so can't comment on that. I got a low coverage policy to supplement the DCL insurance to cover the pre-trip travel, air, and the emergency evac/medical stuff.

hello!!!

my hubby is a pin collector but very unfocussed on his collection sometimes so I'm dreading the special pins that will be available to purchase on the cruise and his excitement once he gets to DLR  - he'll probably bring a few traders to trade with the cast members and he likes to give away pins to kids too...just hoping our 4 year old doesn't catch the pin trading bug!!!

I'm not a pin trader - but on the last PC cruise did pick up a full set of pins which are now nicely framed in a display cabinet. I expect to do so again.

My youngest grandson has all the Stitch pins, sorry. I will grab up some loose pins for traders.

oh, another Stitch lover. :) We are really not into pin trading. I usually just buy the discounted pins at the outlets as a surprise for him. I display my DCL pins in our cruise themed office. But his Stitch pins are just sitting in a box. I'll check to see if we have any duplicates and bring them along if your grandson wants some more. Other than those I just have few I saved such as Dixie Landing, MGM studios, Pleasure Island and a few passholder and DVC.

Anything Pluto of course is a must for my lanyard! I also like anything with teacups! My most favorite ride! Last year, I purchased WDW pins to trade at Disneyland---I hope that was a good idea! We shall see.

Speaking of Disneyland----how does one add transportation from the port to the park? I was looking into private companies---I was unaware that Disney had this option post-cruise. I can't ask my DU travel agent---she doesn't work there anymore and I don't think her clients weren't re-assigned. Sigh

Hopefully you all can send some pixie dust my way---I've been at home sick since last Thursday---with steadily worsening bronchitis. I just feel soooo tired! I hope that the rest of you wonderful people are well!

Not a good day here today - my Godmother has passed away :( I grew up with no aunts, uncles, cousins, or grandparents, so she was very close - loved me and my children like one of her own :(

So, I may be a little quite for a while.

So sorry for your loss. Did find some comfort just reading the boards. {{hugs}}

Hi Guys, just checking in and the first post I read is this one. In speaking with staterooms hosts, I've been told that the ship has done both. Stayed behind and even sailed off. In one case, the stateroom hosts never saw the family back on the ship again. Here's something that I can only stress you all triple check everything.

In Rome, we decided to do it on our own. The paper with the train shedules that the dock gives you lists the times of the Rome train departure. However, in our particular case, it listed the "LAST TRAIN" to Civettivecchia (or however you spell it) was 4:45 or someplace close to it. We somehow read it as 5:45. When we noticed the mistake were were at the Colisseum which I had missed on all my prior trips. My son insisted that the paper couldn't be right and that we should just enter and then go see about alternate rides back to the port. But he, (he's never been out of the country other than Mexico before) insisted it was wrong. So, after a few minutes of panic mode, sensibility snuck in. We went in, enjoyed the marvel and I got to take my pictures and then we hightailed it the Rome station by 5:35 and managed to board a train back to the ship. It took us about 1 hr but for some reason, the port paperwork listed the last train as 4:55. None of us caught it but we sure were happy that the trains ran longer than expected. That was my little lesson learned. I'll check the train boards whenever I get off. BTW, the trains ran way longer the paperwork stated. We could have even taken a later train. But that's ok, I learned my lesson. We made it back to the ship with 1 hr and 45 min to spare. Plenty of time. Our travelling mates even made it back in time for a late early dinner.

When in ROME.... I think you need a :hourglass on your wrist...lol, cute smilie

Okay, I just can't wait any longer to get involved. . . We will be booking this cruise tomorrow, had to wait until DH had vacation approved. I have been reading the forum but not commenting until I knew for sure. For those of you that were on the WBTA, I was there minus DH. I got in too late to do some of the activities so have been pushing DH to find out about vac so we could participate.

We live in Alameda and would love to do a NorCal meet up. The Disney Museum sounds wonderful. I vote for Nov 13-14 as my DH is out of town the 6-7, however if that date works better for most, I'll be there without him.

Judy

Welcome :wave2:

Just a quick drive by to say hello. January can not get here soon enough:)

I think I have the same hat, love it!

Annual passholders can get rooms on the 21st and 22nd at HoJo Anaheim for a big discount! You must be a current AP holder, they are really strict about checking this at the hotel.

Disneyland Resort Annual Passholder Retro Rate::

$59 per night + tax for a Standard Room with one king bed [NK1], a Standard Room with two oversized double beds [NDD1] or a Standard Room two queen beds [NQQ3]

$69 per night + tax for a Deluxe Room with two queen beds [NQQ2]

$79 per night + tax for a Premium Disney View Room with two queen beds [NQQ1]

$99 per night + tax for a Kids Suite with one king bed, twin bunk beds and a pull-out sleeper [SNK2]

The $59 rooms are our favorite and the $69 the least. The $59 and $79 are the same rooms but the $79 have a microwave and a view of DL.

You must call 714-776-6120 and ask for IN HOUSE RESERVATIONS to be able to book this.

Each passholder can book 2 rooms. The rooms go quick. I just noticed them adding these dates.

Called this morning, got my ressie adjusted.

We will not get to fly out of LA until Saturday and I just can't find something fun to do or where I should stay in LA. I will be with my 9 year old son, but we live close to Disney World and I didn't think he would be impressed by Disneyland and we would only get one afternoon in the parks anyway.

Thanks!

I find it very different in a lot of ways. The Pirates of Caribbean ~ awesome, much better than WDW. Several rides that WDW does not have and a boy would love. Also you might want to look into the Premier Pass (this is an annual pass for WDW & DL, if you already have a WDW you could upgrade to it):):cool2:
