I was just daydreaming about our upcoming cruise and was wondering if any of the holiday decorations will still be up when we sail. My DH says no. I say I can dream, can't I? What are your thoughts??? Who's in the know??

I did get an answer for those of us flying in the day before the cruise. You do need to pick up your luggage and bring it back to the airport when you pick up the bus to port. Maybe I should look at a private transfer in FL as well as CA??



My formal dress is sleeveless. I am looking for a scarf to wear with it to cover up my flabby arms.

I teach diving and used to have a dive shop in the Houston area. You would love it I am sure. You can actually do all your classwork online. Then go to the local dive shop for pool work. It doesn't take long. Then do the certifying dives at Sandals if you want. I love Sandals!

I just went to the Dillard's clearance here and got my formal night dress. It was 70% off then another 30% off that. Not bad. Of course since I am a teensy weensy bit short, I have to hem it about a foot!

Thanks for the info on diving. We loved Sandals too. Even as non certified, we were allowed one dive per day after taking a short course. We had a blast the week we were there. It was great that ALL drinks were included and that there were absolutely NO tips allowed. Truly all inclusive. Anyway, we were told it was grounds for termination for accepting tips and yet the service was absolutely top notch. Of course, not any better than Disney

Thanks for the pixie dust! Yes, needed some. And congrats on the great finds on the dresses! My 2 formals were both purchased at regular Dillards on clearance and I got great deals on those -$298 dress for $75 and $160 dress for $35. Usually, I have a hard time finding deals at Dillards (but get awesome deals at Macy's) but really lucked out on those 2 dresses.

Well for the game I am hoping it will be on the big screen. Should be a boring game in the end. The Lakers should be fully healthy by then. I say final score Lakers 110 Mavericks 90.

Mavericks are doing great this year - 9 game win streak! But, I know the Lakers have the Mavericks number and they struggle. Hoping for a win for Dallas!

Try Goodwill, I just bought two formal dresses there (in excellent condition for $25 total). They had a bunch with sleeves on the racks.

I wish I could find good deals like that at Goodwill. Our Goodwill only has very outdated stuff .

Where is the Houston Dillards Clearance?? I know there used to be one at Gunspoint, I mean Greenspoint, but thought that one had closed / relocated?!?

I've heard that about "Gunspoint". Never been though with so many other great shopping malls.

I would say 50/50. I say that because the storage area fir the decorations is at WDW behind the MK. Yes even DCL. I know this because I saw them starting to pack them up to be shipped to the port when I went to property control in Oct. Now they my choose to send them here to DL and store them here. So I say 50/50

I am also vertically-challenged...for my cousin's big formal wedding I bought a beautiful beaded & sequined gown (for a bargain Stein-Mart price of $20) and then spent $75 having it altered & rebeaded



Which car service? I'm looking for options in California -- port to DVC Villas at Grand Californian, for 3 people and a jillion bags -- willing to car-share with other DIS folks!!

For the DL park regular group...which order of the parks do you recommend for our post-cruise stay? I'm thinking will have a noonish to close on Friday & full day on Saturday...then we fly home on Sunday mid-day from LAX (back to reality)... We will have the 2-day park hopper pass and have previously (2005) visited both DL & DCA. DH & DD are the adreline junkies, I just carry the bags & make the purchases (A bit saddened that my personal favorite ride -- it's a Small World -- will be closed for the removal of holiday overlay while we are there)...any advice is welcomed!

Did it close? Last time I was there It was still open. Might want to check and see but yes at gunspoint mall...

Make sure your DCL luggage tags are NOT attached to your luggage if you are not arriving on the 6th...DCL will gather bags with tags from the arrival carousels!! The DCL luggage tags should be attached on the 6th so that the room stewards can magicallydeliver your bags on the Wonder!!

I had to DIG. I went to the Goodwill supercenter in Brandon/ Valrico FL, which is HUGE. One corner is nothing but dresses. I found a bunch of sad bridesmaids dresses. The two I found were on the way out the door. I initially went to look for hideous Hawaiian shirts for Jeff. (I found only one of those - that was disappointing.) I might try a few other Goodwills before Christmas for those elusive Hawaiian shirts that make you wonder why someone thought that combination of neon green, mustard and day-glo pink was a good idea....

That was my thought too. If the Wonder was returning to the East Coast I would say no, but I would think that since it will be on the West Coast they would want to store the decorations there.

I have no proof of course but DCL informed me that they will be coming down with the cruise before ours. That being said...I will dream right along with you!

I haven't caught up on the last few pages but had to vent. Doesn't anyone make nice formal dresses with sleeves anymore! Is it just because I live in Florida that all I can find are sleeveless formal dresses? I know I could buy one and buy a nice jacket to go over it but geeze, really?

I've had the same problem. Found 1 today at the Dillard's clearance center that has enough sleeve to make me happy. Dang they thing everyone wants to show their fabby arms!

I've had the same problem with formal dresses. I gave up and went the expensive route...Nordstroms. One is from my DD's wedding and the other is new. I guess I'll just have to keep cruising so I get my money's worth out of them.

There is a Dillard's Clearance store in Houston on highway 6 at West Oaks Mall. They closed down the regular store and made it a clearance store during the summer.

I did see a question a while back about disembarkation in LA - the cruise documents state disembarkation will commence at 9.30am.

I'm sorry I can't keep up ! I did have the "chat" with the store mgr yesterday about my hours - from Christmas Day I will officially be casual only, with only a couple of shifts a month ! YAY ! I've finally reclaimed weekends ! (I'm soooo grateful I've got this new job at the school )

Been busy doing t-shirt designs with appliques today - lots of fun !

Anyway, need to fly, as it's "lounge room sleepover night" tonight !
