Thank you. It sure has not felt like 11 years. I can still remember my new hire training 11 years ago in Dallas. They put us up in a hotel in a dry county. We were not happy. Also from my new hire customer service class I am the only one still with the company.

Going on bus trip to another grandsons football game tomorrow night and although I love to watch him play the game is in the city where my husband had his sudden stroke and died a year and a half ago, so not where I like to go, but I will make it.

Ah got it. I was wondering. Even if I was working we would not be able to say hi. I am in Terminal 1 on the north side or the airport. You will be in Termanials 8 for your arrival and 5 for your departure on the south side. Also be ready to go through security in terminal 5. None of our teerminal gate concourses are conected. There used to be a underground on the south side but I have heard TSA has shut those down to passenger use. I could be wrong.

Yea, I'm looking forward to the TSA... Tampa was fun because I carry a medically necessary gel. I got the royal treatment. I have a couple of hours at least, though I'm not sure if Delta and United interline for luggage, so I may need to deal with that.

There is a tunnel between Terminal 5 and 6 that opens and closes depending on the whim of the TSA. The last time I was in LA it was open. There's a nice bar in one of those two that I hang out for while waiting for the redeye. Usually the redeye leaves from the other terminal so it is convenient.

Good morning. Well I just wanted to post some happy news. On Oct 1 in 29 days I go to our top out pay. It is a nice raise. So all in all, a good year at work. I top out and got my 4th week of vacation.

Well the hotel had a bar with a really good happy hour. The thing was you were not able to go to the little store on the corner to get booze. It sucked.

It's not silly. On long trips I often hit a point where I'm ready to be home again. With 4 days in Orlando before the cruise, I am quite certain that by the end of the cruise I'll be ready to return to reality.

LOL I am the complete opposite. I think the majority of Americans mindsets are so backward by our absurd obsession with work and having so little time off, I love the European attitude of what I call "work hard/play hard"- I can only dream about having so many weeks off each year like they get even as a new employee. I was just on a 3-week road trip and so enjoyed the feeling of really getting away, I could have easily stayed another 3 weeks if I'd had the time. We did cross cross country focusing on Route 66 all the way to CA, and we met virtually no Americans along the way, but lots of Germans, Italians, and English people who were on 5-7 week "holidays". Its too bad that our culture doesnt embrace the peace you can experience by getting such a big chunk of time off to really get away, whether you stay home or travel.

We grew up in a dry town north of Dallas. When we moved to Ft. Worth, it was so odd seeing beer and wine in the grocery store. Then when we moved to Louisiana, seeing drive through daiquiri shops was insane. And buying rum at Walmart and the grocery store was something new too.


Anyway, DH and I are going to preseason Texans/Bucs game tonight. Not really a huge Texans fan, but DH was given great tickets and a parking pass so it was hard to pass that up. It will be fun though as I do like football.

When my daughter was home several years ago, she said "Why didn't you tell me the drug store was the liquor store!" There are no longer state controled liquor stores and the drug store is full of it! We got a good laught!

Welcome back! It must have been tough on the whole family especially with a little one unwell. I absolutely hate it when DH is on-call on the weekends. He might as well be away as I don't get to see him.

No one has holidays quite like the Europeans! I think the French get some incredible amount of annual leave each year (6 or 8?) plus all the public holidays.

Hello again folks - still a LTNP(ost) from me - have been waiting, waiting, waiting until the bitter end to be sure we were actually going to be joining you all for certain. In any case, today marks our PIF date, so it's official. DH *may* need to disembark in Mexico to head home a couple of days early, but we'll cross that hurdle if / when we come to it.

I am looking forward to the next school holidays in 3 weeks' time, as we'll be breaking the news to the kids then - we'll start doing oodles of arts and crafts (t-shirts, fish extenders, etc.). Plus we can all share the excitement then

I'm not sure how many excursions will be "left" for us lowly first-timers, but that'll be another exciting element nevertheless.

My 2010 Passporter guide arrived yesterday - I fell asleep reading it last night LOL. Not that it's a boring read by any means, just that I'm too sleep-deprived

I need to start hitting the gym, too - I've had a viral chest infection for a month now, and my fitness is appalling as a result. I've still got a fair bit of coughing going on, but nothing like it has been. Here's to being fit and well for our big holiday !

I've still only been skimming through the posts, but promise to start chiming in more often now. I hope everyone else is enjoying the countdown, and that my fellow plan-a-holics are ready to inspire me

Congrats Alan!!! I love SWA and am a frequent flier, however I usually fly out of Ontario or San Diego not LAX--I avoid LAX like the plague!! I do love Orange county though. The take off is so fun, especially if you are sitting next to someone who doesn't know what to expect

I go for size in the middle that I am happy with...

shopping is ok for the first hour then I hate it.

I am having a bad day, lost new mobile phone last night,hassle,hassle, went for a new and they sold me the wrong card for it, 25 mile trip again, Im fed up, no more shopping for a while.

Oh, I am so sorry!! That is the worst! I hope you get everything worked out and some time for yourself--there's always online shopping--I couldn't live without 6pm.com!!

The Outdoor Adventure sounded soooo fun with the waterfall, but DH wont do the rapel or the zip, so the other zip is what we are doing. He can hang with all the kiddies at the river, zoo and bar, lol.

Aww, come on Tami, join us!!! J/K I know what you mean...I keep warning DD that she had better be SURE she is doing this before we leave as I cannot get my money back once we are on the ship...lucky for me the "parentals" would never do that excursion, so I have a back up plan

Hi everyone,

I have a question about some of the shore excursions. I have noticed on some shore excursions, it says the age limit is age 10 or 12, but then next to that, it says, "must be at least 48 inches tall". Well, my oldest is 10, and my youngest is 8, but my youngest is already 49 inches tall, and my oldest is 51 inches tall. Who knows what height they'll be come January with the way growth spurts go.

Do you know how strict Disney is with the age if the child meets the height requirement? Because there are some excursions we'd LOVE to do, but my youngest, or both kids aren't old enough, but they are tall enough.

Seems like height would be more important than age (for safety reasons), wouldn't you think?

Anyway, just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on that.

Disney is SUPER DUPER strict!!! My DD was 3 months away from being 12 and she was at a height of 5'2 and they would not even consider letting her go. Your best bet is to go with an outside company if you want them to bend the rules...from my experience, Disney will not.

That is the beauty of being in education...long summers! You work your tail off all year and then...Ahhhhhhhhh!!

We were--From what I can remember, there wasn't much planned as we were always off the ship. Our Navigators had HUGE gaps where nothing was going on except maybe a movie, but who could blame them, there was no one there to enjoy it.

Okay, I have the most exciting news...I just found out that a friend of mine can get me something my for DD that will make me the Mom of the CENTURY. Ohhhhh...I cannot WAIT for Christmas!! "Santa Claus is coming to town..."--AND it is not going to cost anything so I will save a bundle on presents

How is it getting to and flying out of Ontario? That is one of the options we are considering. The flight we're considering doesn't leave until the evening so we have plenty of time and the price is good.

I have flown into and out of every airport in California on more occasions than I care to count and I can tell you that Ontario (and Sacramento) are by FAR the best!! It is easy to get to, small and very close to DLand. I always encourage everyone to fly out of there as it is far more predictable (time and traffic wise) than either Orange or LAX...the added bonus is that if you have the time, it is right next to Ontario Mills (huge outlet mall) and Victoria Gardens (a very cool mall).

I'm reluctant to do so but I seem to be finding the best prices for online-only stores. I dont want to spend a lot of money since I wont be getting much use out of it, but I do want to look nice and dress up for one of the formal nights at least. Any suggestions?

I bought both of mine at Dillards on clearance. My red gown was purchased last summer on sale for $79 with a regular price of $278. I wore it on our December cruise and got so many compliments on it. I plan on wearing it again for this cruise. I like to buy new things for vacations but it is really beautiful and I would like to get as much use out of it as I can. The second one I bought a few months ago, also on sale from Dillards. It was regularly $168 and I paid $50.40 (just looked at tags as it still hasn't been worn) It is a long black, more simple dress but can still be dressed up.

I had been eying a gorgeous pink gown at Macy's but they didn't have my size. Finally, one appeared on the clearance but it was a size smaller than the minimum of what I normally wear. I decided to try it on anyway and much to my surprise, it was actually a bit big - not because I had lost enough weight to go down a size but the sizing was off. It ended up having a hole in it so I didn't get it. Anyway, I guess what I'm getting to is if I had purchased that dress on line in the my normal size it would have really been big. I would not purchase online unless it was the same brand of one I already had. Good luck!!!

I 2nd the Dillard's clearance sales. I have purchased many dressy dresses at unbelievable prices. I also check the thrift stores.
