obviously, giving the dogs away is not going to happen (would you give your child away?)

First - I don't think you are a pet hater but I would expand on the above comment since you have made the reference yourself- would you put your child in foster care to pursue a job?

You ask good questions and I think that a young person should try to seek life experience through jobs that they would enjoy. But a pet is a life time responsiblity and in fairness to the animal a tough decision might have to be made. I could never give up my dog but if it was a temporary situation I could leave them with friends or family. I could not leave them in a kennel. If for reasons beyond my control I had to leave them for an extended period of time then I would be looking to find them a good home. That's just me, others may feel differently.

There may be discounts in mid-September after the paid in full date. If so, you'll most likely see category 12 become available. The savings can be substantial, and it is possible to downgrade. It depends entirely on how well the cruise is selling.[/QUOTE]

So what does everyone think? how is the cruise selling? Will there be discounts offered in September? CAT 12s (actually CAT 11C) for 4 passengers? Kids sail free?

I'm curious what people think about this cruise. To me it does not seem to be selling as well as past PC cruises. I wish DCL would offer those of us already booked an incentive to keep our reservations, I am debating cancelling before PIF and seeing what happens.

Because I am unable to book until October, I am hoping that this will be the case. I believe that because kids will be back in school it will be difficult for most parents to pull their kids for this long of a duration. We experienced this for the EB Transatlantic that we took. DCL offered a CAt 12 for $1k a person and $100 per kid and the ship was only at 80% when we sailed. My fingers are crossed that we will see some discounts but it is a risk for most people.

to all (not just granmaz):

yes, i know. i asked a generic question on how one would go about doing this, and guess i used the wrong terminology, and now, i suppose both myself, my cousin, and my friend are pet haters.

phew... what do i know? never had pets beyond what could live in a cage/mini-aquarium, and as a child who would go away to summer camp, trips abroad, and on long disney vacations, learned that "foster parents" are there to kill your pets. so clearly, i am unaware of correct terminology and such since i never used them.

back to the question, hopefully worded more broadly and openly-

what would you do with your pet, based out of orlando? in regards to boarding/housing options?

obviously, giving the dogs away is not going to happen (would you give your child away?)

should they really not take an exciting job of a lifetime, that could last as few as 3 months at a time, because of a pet?

so what would you do?

are there organizations who help you find foster homes? i'm sure they'd both want local foster homes to visit whenever possible.

is a boarding situation altogether that bad, if , say, they will be back 2 days a week to love their pets, and the boarding company has practically a huge farm that the pets roam free on, complete with a bone-shaped pool, playground, and tons and tons of grass to play on with other friends?

friend's desired position could make days off and change-over days difficult to get out and off the ship. this i know. cousin's desired position may not, honestly be too bad on a day off, mid-day like that.

but i don't know. it's just an inquiry into options. neither one has even gotten an interview yet.

I cant speak for a child as I have not got one, but I certainly would never give one of my beagles away thats for sure as they are part of my family and I love them very much so.

I am not sure I understand your post with re to pet hater.
I work in a vets I have also worked in boarding kennel.

In the vets we DISCOURAGE owners visit as it TOTALLY unsettles the animals, before owners come they are settled afterwards they howl, stop eating and urinate and dig up there beds. Long term , this I dont think is an option for the animals, possibly the owners but NOT the animals.

I mentioned fostereing because in the past I have done this for social services for owners/pets that are in difficulty for one reason or another and it worked well(well apart from when I was sad giving them back)

I am sorry if you didnt like my post but I did say twice that my post was "my humble opinion" and since you did ask for that I am not sorry for giving it.

You need to be careful about this. On the TA and Med. we booked them when they first came out and paid full price for Cat 9.After we made our final payment they came out with the $699 and $799 cat 12 deal. We tried to switch but we were told we would have to pay a $1900 penalty on EACH cruise, lose the OBC and the !0%. I did not mind losing the OBC or the 10 % but to pay almost $4000 penalty was redicious. I went round and round with Disney about this and the only thing I got was a cabin upgrade which I really wasn't thrilled about. I like the Deck 2 Cat 9 rooms with the big porthole. So I paid more than $5000 than i should have. There are only a certain number of Cat 12 rooms so you know that people would be upgraded. I am not happy to know that someone next to be was paying $699 and I was paying in the thousands.

Nice, very nice. Tomorrow I am down at Disneyland with my friends from DCL. I have been told, and this is really super cool, That we are going to have a very special dinner at Club 33, but I am not allowed to post anything more than that. Sorry. It will be my second time there. I can't wait.

Agree Bingo is ok for gambling- doesn't take up valuable ship space (to me any pool or other DCL activity is more valuable than a big casino). and it's a fun game. played once. wont again - too much money for too few prizes!

so how is the PC cruise selling? Never saw an answer?

I could not agree more. We don't even do Bingo, so I love, love, love, love the fact DCL does not have a Casino.
I get real tired of hearing that Disney is for kids.

ME TOO!!!!!!!!

but it IS for kids! I mean, I'm Bernie and Addie's kid! Just because i'm 57 (tomorrow! :-( ) doesnt mean i'm not a kid! :cutie:

Have a nice time. I've been to Club 33 once, and I really enjoyed it.

Enjoy Club 33. Tell us all about it later.

I've been lucky enough to be a guest three times - and I'd never ever thought I'd get to enter the magical "green door."

I have always dreamt of being able to go to Club 33. If anyone has any connections that will be going when we disembark after the cruise, I would love to be be able to go with you!!

Went by AAA and made the final payment for the cruise. While my TA was on the line with DCL, I was offered the chance to pre-pay the gratuities. Decided to do this - means NO standing in line to charge them at the end of the cruise. Total for the two of us - $360.

YAY! It means the trip is that much closer now. We are going to continue to put aside a couple more months' worth of what we'd been paying - to cover shore excursions, Palo, brunch, etc.

Just a quick drive by to say hello! Hope everyone has been enjoying the Spring weather. Ours has been really nice. Paid another chunk on the cruise today and sent request to dvc for the Grand Cal until the 25th. ----but now I am thinking I mave have been outside my 7 month booking window. Oh well-they'll let me know.:goodvibes
