I may not have gotten there yet, but has there been any talk on this? Good place to get it from? Pros/cons. I see you can get just medical vs. some sort of package....help!

Hey guys, I know we talked about this a while ago, but we really would like to meet up with anyone who either lives here or is coming down before the cruise. We have a (currently) 2 1/2 yo son and a 1 yo daughter so anyone with small kids... play date?

We are interested in learning from someone who has bought insurance from someone other than Disney. We know nothing so any help is appreciated. Thx

We just get Disneys inssurance. Yes it may cost a little more but we like convenice. That is why we do our transfers through them as well.

We always get our trip insurance from Insure My Trip

They are an online broker and offer lots of different policies depending on what you want.

You put in basic information and it gives you lots of options. If you have questions, there is a contact number.

Both times we cruised I chose Travelex Plus as for us it has a fair amount of insurance both for travel, medical, repatriation and even insurance to cover a rental car. Some policies also cover non refundable tickets for excursions etc. Travelex is also a highly rated insurance company.

You need to know how much you want to insure for, obviously the cost of the cruise will be your base factor, but then there is the cost of other items such as flights, non refundable accommodation costs, car hire costs etc. If you have the cruise booked and insure for that, then add flights at a later date, they would allow you to increase your insurance to cover the extra costs.

Unless you book within 14 days of first payment generally, there is a pre-existing conditions exclusion (no different from the more expensive DCL insurance). If you have pre-existing conditions, you may want to check by phone what the exclusions mean and what InsureMyTrip would recommend.

I can't remember what DCL would have charged us, but I know it was more than double what I paid for our more comprehensive and better coverage.

Just another tidbit to add.

The Disney price for insurance for a similar trip to our last cruise is $336 (compared to the $152 we paid). How many DOTDs would that cover!

Insurance for the PC crossing for our family of 4 would be $536. ($199 for first 2 passengers, $99 for additional passengers). Haven't priced via IMT just yet though.

Here is our situation...

10/10/10...7 nt Eastern on the Freedom
Flying from LA or PHX or possibly Vegas to MCO, kind of depends on where the rest of the family is flying from.
Avis car rental one way MCO to Port Canaveral
Now I know we would need medical and maybe cruise interuption/cancelation, but I wouldn't think that the air or car would need anything. From where we are flying there shouldn't be any delays, right???

And then there is our January trip with all of you guys with similar details. What do you all think? TIA

Hello fellow cruisers!

Tammy, DH and I are doing Discovery Cove the day before the cruise, so I am not sure if we can get together. If you are able to plan something for the evening, let me know!
DH and I have never purchased trip insurance for any of our other vacations, but with the influx of mishaps I have been reading about, I bit the bullet. We are using Travelex (compared policies side by side on insuremytrip.com). For a $9000 trip, we are paying less than $300 for the insurance. Hopefully, we will not have to make a claim, but better safe than sorry.
I keep changing post-cruise plans, going back and forth. For now, we are staying in LA over the weekend. DH is interested in the LaBrea Tar Pits and I want to take a tour of the Grauman's Chinese theater, and see a show at El Capitan. We will definitely have dinner at the Tam O'Shanter Inn. Other than that, we just plan to tour around town and see what we can find. Monday, we plan to get into a taping for the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (any ideas for a great last night dinner in LA???) Then, sadly on Tuesday, we will fly home. :sad1:
Does anyone else have post cruise plans? popcorn::

I hope you all are doing well. Have a great day!

I just realized that I've been MIA for months. I really didn't mean it. About the time my daughter turned 1, my computer time slipped away. As penance, I am reading ALL of the posts I missed (approx 150 pages worth in my estimation). I remember thinking that poll was so annoying to scroll past each time (I have a netbook with an 8.9 inch screen) that I'd come catch up in a week or two when it was down...never happened. I'm sooooo sorry. I will try to be good now and check in much more often. As far as I can tell so far, yes for the cruise certs, interested in a group FE gift (dry erase boards or whatever), yes staying at GCV for a couple days after, no not staying anywhere before we will drive down morning of and hop on. That's all I've got so far.

Hi ,w elcome back

Good Morning from the snowy Midwest! I'm looking forward to a half day in Kindergarten today as a "guest teacher". Anyone out there planning on the 5K at Castaway Cay?

Des, so sorry to hear about your loss. :grouphug:

Awhile back someone asked about time changes. I found my Navigators from 2008. We went back 1 hour on Aruba night, night 6, back 1 hour on Puerto Vallarta night, night 13 and back 1 hour on Cabo San Lucas night, night 15. So it was three times.
