We are comming in on Aug 30, I have a car rental ressie, but Im not sure I want to do that.

Has anyone used any of the transportation options besides car rentals? Limo services, vans, etc? Are they quick? Do you have to wait long for them to come? We are staying on site and I know WDW doesnt have any transportation from the Airport.

Of course if we dont rent a car then were kind of at the mercy of the disney transportation system inside the world, dont really know what thats like either.

Oh well just looking for some feedback from folks who dont rent a car.

Thanks

We like Tiffany Towncar. They meet you at luggage with a sign and were quite reliable. $80.00 for a round trip.

We have used yourride.net twice now & will be again in November. We have had no trouble with them - they meet you at the bottom of the escalator with your name on a bright pink sign, help you with your luggage & they offer a 'free' 30 minute grocery stop which you have to tell them that you want it when you make your reservations. Their price is the same for a car or a large van. There is a $5.00 off coupon on their website. Check their website for the price - it depends on which hotel you are going to. We have had no trouble with Disney transportion getting us to & from the parks. The only long wait for a bus was one night after the Magic Kindgom closed - we have learned to just 'hang out' in the park & people watch instead of leaving with the crowds -- even with having to wait we thought that it was much better than having to fight the traffic on our own!!! Hope that you have a great vacation!!!

I have used Tiffany Town Car last summer and this summer. They meet you at baggage claim holding a sign with your name. Both times the driver was waiting for us. While we waited for our luggage, the driver went to get the car and told us where to meet him curbside. He picked us up promptly on our last day for our return to the airport - they pick you up 2 and half hours before your scheduled flight. Once on the road, the drive to a Disney resort is only about 25 minutes.

Another vote for Tiffany Towncar. We used them for our last trip. They were prompt and very professional.

Another vote for Tiffany Towncar. If you don't plan to venture outside of Disney..then being picked up is the way to go!

I think I've done it all at one point or another...taxi, Mears, towncar, limo, rental car.

I wouldn't do the taxi again--it was more expensive than a car service and no grocery stop.

I also wouldn't ever do Mears Cattle Car service again. Two hours of visiting resort after resort with a fighting couple and crying kids. And by not getting a grocery stop there wasn't any savings. Plus we had to wait until it was full before we left the airport.

I've used Yourride.net, Tiffany, and Florida Towncar. I'll never use FTC again, they started out fine but ended up with some bad drivers and run down cars. Tiffany is fine, although some of their office staff leaves something to be desired, I've never had a bad driver. I prefer yourride.net--at least I did when Rabbit owned it, can't speak for them now. We used them for a limo, had Jimmy and the white stretch--he was an excellent driver and the car was immaculate. If you have a larger party and need the seating space (or want to splurge!), I highly reccomend going that route.

We generally found the transportation around WDW to be excellent. The hardest part is going from resort to resort for dinner or other meals when the theme parks were closed. When that happens, we just opt for a cab rather than doing the DTD transfer thing.

We did Mears for our ground transportation and it was fine.

As far as the Disney transportation, we stayed at the All Stars Movies. Except for one park we went to, and this included Downtown Disney, Movies had their own bus for the return trip back to the hotel. Going back to the hotel fom MGM, all 3 of the All Star resorts were on one bus. Now I don't know if this happens all year long or if it changes during the less busy times of the year.

I vote for Tiffany, The service was great.

Mears is indeed a cattle call as someone already mentioned. You wait, ride with many other people sometimes cramped in a van. The interesting thing was that we told Disney CM at the hotel we were using Tiffany when we checked out and they acted like they had no idea who we were talking about so I think Disney has ins with Mears.

We will splerge in December and we are getting a strech limo (from Tiffany) the kids always remark about a limo when we see one on the highway and how cool it is, so this will be a great surprise when we are picked up at the airport.

Mears and WDW definitely have a CBA with each other.

Another vote for Tiffany. Always on time, clean cars, nice grocery stop. I highly recommend them. A towncar is the way to go (or the luxery van or limo if you have a larger party).

We've used TT and are using them again this month. We found that the bell staff at POR had good things to say about TT when we were there last. I've had an issue with TT's office staff being somewhat abrupt but the driver was terrific, so that's what I'm counting on this trip.

From the airport I recommend a towncar service like Floridatowncar.com or happylimo.com

As for around the world ~ we rely on their transportation system with the good service they provide.

I also subsidize this service with a cab here and there to save time and not have to leave so early for my destination. Cabs are readily available and have good rates.

Even though you were looking for opinions of those who use the shuttles, I thought you may want to hear how cheap it could be for you if you did rent a car.

Of all the years we have been going to WDW...we have always had a rental car. We pick it up at MCO. We rent National . If you are a DC member, you get great rates. And now I think Alamo is one of the "official" cars.

If you are a DC member, you get free enrollment in the National Emerald Aisle. Meaning, you go straight to the designated Emerald Aisle, pick your car, and go on you way. The only check in you have to do is at the exit gate when leaving the National Parking lot.

We have never used any of the shuttles, we like the freedom of having a car while on vacation. We do use the buses ALL the time when going to the parks. This year we are going to Universal for a day, so the car is meaningful.

Mousesavers usually has great rates and codes to use for the internet. For example, we arrive on August 14th and leave August 24th. For that time frame it is costing us a measly $229.73 to rent off the Emerald Aisle. That basically comes out to $21 a day. And the car is a Mid-size to Full. We usually choose a Grand-Am or any other 4 door car they have on the aisle.

For our upcoming Thanksgiving trip we already have a reservation picking up Nov. 26 to Nov. 30th. That is costing us $109. So for 5 days in November during PEAK travel..that is costing us roughly $22 per day.

We reserve with our AMEX card. We decline ALL insurance offered to us. By using the AMEX card, and if we happened to get into an accident, AMEX covers the deductible. Our regular insurance (State Farm) covers us for EVERYTHING else.

So for us, we see the benefits with renting. The price is right and you have your freedom. We usually drive to Walgreens and buy diet and regular pepsi, snacks, and other things we have have forgotten at home. Also, we go to the discount stores and buy some "cheap" souvenirs.

Either way...your at WDW !!!!!
:D

What can be better than that ??????

Anyone know anything about American Luxury Transportation? I have a ressie with them, but am thinking of changing it to Tiffany. Let me know what the experts say! ;)

Tiffany Towncar-right on time, every time. As a matter of fact, I'm getting ready to book them now for our October trip. I don't know what other plans you have, but if you're only doing Disney, you probably won't have time to do anything else, and probably won't need a rental, unless you're staying for quite a while.

We have used Mears and towncars. Towncars are the best, Yourride is our first choice. We love not having to drive on vacation. Just another way to spoil ourselves a little.

This was the first vacation we didn't use a rental car, and it was our best yet! We used happy limo with the limo there/town car back option since the kids both wanted to try out a limo.

My DH has used mears on two different occassions when his stay didn't coincide with ours, and wants nothing to do with them ever again. He also refers to them as cattle cars.

We have frequently had rentals while at Disney, but this time we decided that since we never use the car, why not just get rid of the car. It ended up being cheaper with the limo service, and took a lot of stress off the front and back of our trip!

Have a great vacation, whatever you decide!
Debbie

Tiffany was great. The driver was waiting for us at baggage claim and we were able to make a stop at the grocery store.
I booked our reservation on their web site and used a coupon from the Passporter.

We've used Mears several times. One trip we stood for an hour at the airport waiting for a van. The place was a zoo. The last time we rode in the bus. That took forever also. You have to stop at both termials at the airport before you start heading to the resorts. We will never use Mears again.

We used Tiffany on a 3 way trip(airport, Poly, port, back to airport) and we were very happy with their service.
We were off our plane at 10:15am and in the Poly lobby by 11:15am.
