My Husband and my daughter were talking yesterday... and this was the conversation with our five year old... I think she is beyond her years as well.
It's amazing what sort of things you can lear by looking into the mind of a child
Lauren and me were lying in her bed talking.
She asked me 'what happens when someone gets old?'
I told her 'when people get old they die. Even mommy and daddy will die someday. By this time you and Josh will have families of your own'
She asked 'will you be sleeping in a graveyard until it's time to go to heaven?'
I told her 'yes I will be sleeping in a graveyard.'
I asked her 'Will you and your family will come visit me?'
She replied 'I will visit you all the time and we could talk.'
I asked her 'would bring me flowers?'
she replied 'I will bring you flowers on your birthday.'
I asked 'what about Christmas?'
She replied 'on Christmas I will bring you a present'
Then she thought a minute and asked 'Daddy, how will you open the present'?
I said 'I don't know'
she said 'I could help you open the present if you couldn't open it by yourself'.
Then she said 'It's ok if you want to play with the present when I'm not there. This way you won't be alone in the graveyard'
Then she added 'When I come back to visit we could talk again and we could play with the present I brought you'
Now this is the sweetest thing...
