From the airport. What should I take?

Hi guys, I'm a newbie to WD parks, so please bear with my inane questions (now and in the future).

Since I don't trust my travel agent's info (they are the one who told me that 3rd week of February is slow. NOT!) I have to ask you guys for everything.

Trip from the airport and back for 2 adults and 1 child.

Is it cheaper to take an airport limo, or is it cheaper to take the bus? I'll be staying at Disney's Music resort.

Also, what is the travel time (bus vs airport limo)

PS: renting a car is NOT an option.

Thanks beforehand.

I would take the limo. Not sure what bus you are talking about, unless you mean Mears. It is much quicker if you use a limo service like FL Tours, which is a sponser of this board.
BTW, the third week in Feb. is considered quiet.

whY IS A RENTAL CAR NOT AN OPTION. i FIGURED OUT ON THE DISNEY WE SITE THAT RENTING AN ECONOMY CAR WAS THE SAME PRICE AS A TOWN CAR TRANSFER AND LESS THEN A LIMO. THE VAN WAS CHEAPER BUT YOU HAVE TO SHARE THE RIDE WITH OTHERS AND POSSIBLY MAKE STOPS ALONG THE WAY.

Really? Because I've been reading many posts stating that 3rd week of February is President's week and it's really busy.

Thanks for the info.

Now, should I book the limo from FL Tours or something? Anybody have any idea how much approximately will I be spending?

rental car is that cheap? I'll be there for one full week though.

At least in Canada, renting a car for the week will be around US$200 after taxes.

We like Tiffany's towncar. The will make a 30 minute grocery stop. I know that other car service also make the stops.

i THINK I HAD PUT IT IN USING 5 DAYS SO MAYBE IT MIGHT BE HIGHER. I HAVE TO SAY THAT EVEN THOUGHT THE TRANSPORTIONS GOOD AT DISNEY YOUR TRAPPED INTO STAYING THERE FOR EVERYTHING. YOU MIGHT WANT A DAY OUT OF THE PARKS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A RAINY DAY. JUST AN IDEA. HAVE A GOOD TIME.

It's at least worth checking to see if you can find any discounted rates / codes for a car rental. You should be able to find a weekly rental for under $200 somewhere.

Other things to consider:

Grocery Stop - Whether you rent a car or obtain other transportation, consider an option that will allow you a stop at a local grocery store. If your budget is important to you, you can really save a bundle by purchasing simple things like soda, bottled water, breakfast items (pop tarts, granola bars) and snacks (potato chips, cookies, etc.) at a grocery store instead of WDW. I believe that the beverages alone will cost you $2.50 each at the resorts and theme parks. Think of how much you can save by picking up those items when you arrive and keeping them in your room.

Some town car companies, and I believe FL Tours is one of them, will allow you one stop of 30 minutes or so to pick up these types of items. If you get a rental car, you can go whenever you wish.

Souvenirs - If you have a significant souvenir budget, a rental car would allow you to get to some of the off-site outlet stores that often have WONDERFUL discounts. We've gotten t-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts and other items for 50-75% off the prices you see at WDW itself. These are the same items sold at the theme parks, but have been moved to the outlets because designs have been discontinued, or some other reason. We bought a t-shirt for our son that read something like 'my first trip to Disney World'. We paid $4 for the shirt at the outlet, and the rest of our trip saw the exact same shirts at the parks and resorts for $12.

Having your own transportation at the parks can also be a benefit. By and large, the WDW busses and other transportation options are very good. But during busier times (first thing in the morning, at a park's closing time) you may find yourself having to wait for multiple busses to arrive before there is room to board. The last few times we were at WDW, we either drove (and had our own car) or rented a car. Typically the only park to which we will consider taking the bus is the Magic Kingdom since the bus drops you off so much closer than the parking lot.

And, since you're staying at a WDW resort hotel, self-parking is free throughout the complex.

The first thing that came to mind was an airplane. Hee Hee.

Then I read your first post.

A few comments. Disney Transportation is good, but allow extra time just in case. Rainy Days are the best days to visit the parks because fewer people go. Why would you want to leave? and finally if the rental is so cheap why wouldn't you want to rent your own car? Wow. The prices I saw for weekly rentals were much more the transfer services.

Disney states:

Highest Attendance:
Presidents' week in February
Mid March through Late April ("Spring Break")
Memorial Day weekend
Mid June through Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day and weekend
Christmas week through New Year's Day

Thank you for the advice. However, I don't think we'll have any chance to go anywhere other than WDW during this trip. It's the first trip for my daughter and her mom... and we'll only have 6 nights to spend (leaving on the 7th day).

I haven't done that much of a research but a limo will cost me around US$100 whereas a rental will still be around US$150.

As far as cheap food... we're bringing cup noodle for all of our breakfasts (minus one day for Royal Table Character Breakky), milk in tetrapacks for my daughter (2 tiny boxes each day), and a portable electric water boiler for 3 nights worth of... cup noodle dinner :bounce:

I like the reports I have read about FL Tours and yes, if that is what you want to use for transportation, then I would advise booking it via their website. That will give you the price. http://www.fltours.com
