From Sunstroke to a Concussion: A Yacht Club Disney “Trip” to Remember

Unfortunately, when we were halfway through the park on the way out, DS realized that he had left his visor on the ride. Argh… We schlepped back to the ride, and since this has happened on this ride every single trip (not sure why it is so hard to remember to check the basket under your seat on this ride!), I knew I could go in through the exit in the gift shop and get a CM to check for the hat. This time, it was so much later that I thought there was no hope, but there it was in their lost and found! Since I had NO IDEA where we had ridden it was quite lucky.

Another great update. Sounds like you managed to hit all the best parts of HS.

Had to laugh at the fact that it is so easy for your son to leave stuff on this ride. We too have had to trek back through the gift shop to receive my son's stuff on this ride! The only ride he has ever left stuff on.

I know! What's the deal with that, anyway??? The only thing we missed this trip was Fantasmic.

Joining! And not just because I want to know about the head injury. :stitch:

Last Day - Four Years Later!

I had some trouble with the uploading of pictures four years ago and gave up on finalizing my trip report. Now that we are going back, I think I should finish this one up! It will be from memory, so limited for sure. LOL

On the last day, everyone wanted to head to Typhoon Lagoon. I wasn't jazzed about being thrown around in the wave pool, and we hadn't started packing and had a bit of laundry to do. Plus the giant gun my son bought wouldn't fit in my giant suitcase, and I had to head over to the convention centre to mail it home. I also had plans to head out to Epcot BY MYSELF. It took me forever to pack everyone up, then I hit the BC laundry room, left clothes there and went to the TC Convention Centre mail room with the big gun. Unfortunately, I had become so used to paying for everything with my Magic Band that I didn't realize that I would need my credit card. Unfortunately, I had to schlep all the way back to the room (with the gun, OMG) to get the card. After finishing all these errands, I prepared for the fun part of my day...

Today I looked like this:

Lovely, right? And I was so incredibly sick of wearing sunglasses that I was showing the black eye to everyone. LOL.

First stop was my favourite cart in France, with a lovely shushie...

Waved at Belle from a distance, and then hit Italy for a Murano glass Christmas ornament, a Murano glass ring, and one of these: Pic3.jpg

It was hotter than the surface of the sun. I actually thought my sneakers would melt into the asphalt. Next was Germany, but I thought that I might need a break from my drinking around the world. ;) So, this was my choice: Pic4.jpg Yummy!!

I ran past Duffy and Mexican Donald on the way here: Pic5.jpg I love the inside of Mexico because visiting Chichen Itza during the solstice was a highlight of my travels. And I had never gone on the ride in Mexico, so I decided to do that (alone. Pretty pathetic. LOL) I reluctantly postponed my planned margarita, and headed back to the YC to meet up with my family and friends returning from Typhoon Lagoon. They had an amazing time, and were all set for supper and our night at MK. :)

Next up: Final night!

Last Night...

During the lengthy delay in our flight from Toronto to MCO, I managed to get three Fastpasses for MK for our last night. I got BTMRR and Splash, as well as Wishes, and as well got an additional FP for Under the Sea. I was thrilled to discover that I could modify it, so I managed to change it to the Electrical Parade. Night was set, and what a way to end our trip. :) We had an ADR for Whispering Canyon Cafe, but the other family had no more TS credits on their DDP, and had a bunch of QS credits. Also, their son wanted to ride the monorail, so they decided to hit the Mexican QS in Epcot and then get the monorail to MK and meet us. It was really nice since we hadn't had a chance for a family meal either. We got a taxi over to WCC. I loved the look of the Wilderness Lodge! It reminded me of Great Wolf Lodge, which was one of our favourite family vacations when the kids were smaller. The geyser was cool:

I decided to get another fun drink:

The kids loved the ketchup trick, but the meal wasn't great. It was worth it for the experience, though. We were going to take the boat, but when we came out, the MK bus was right there and we were getting close to our FP time, so we hopped on.

We headed for Splash Mountain, but the ride was down. We were waiting for the other family, who was running late, and we thought we would lose our FPs. The CM at Splash was amazing - super funny, and very helpful. He made sure all eight of us got the return anytime FP. We headed here:

We had a fun ride, and when we came out, Splash was back up! We all decided to ride, but at the last minute, the son from the other family backed out. We ended up with the MOST EPIC RIDE PHOTO OF ALL TIME. Girls in the front are doing the "keep arms and legs inside the vehicle" sign, and the rest are obvious. I'm rocking my black eye in the back! Had to make it my profile picture on here. :)

Part 2 in the next post!

After using our two FPs, we decided to ride Haunted Mansion at night, which I love. :) Ah dear Leota...

After HM, it was time to head to the viewing spot for the Main Street Electrical Parade. The FP viewing spot was amazing, and it was so relaxing to not have to jockey for a spot. I really wish this was still available - does anyone know why they stopped offering FPs for parades and fireworks at MK??? They have them for It's a Small World for God's sake!

This was our view:

I loved this parade. So sad to see it go!

We moved straight to the Rose Garden for the Wishes FP viewing. We got comfortable! The kids made the most hilarious First World Problems complaint - the grass was too pointy. It was surely pricklier than the grass at home! LMAO. I decided not to take pictures, but to just enjoy it. The kids enjoyed making fun of me tearing up. LOL This was the view!

Wishes.jpg

After Wishes we headed for some rides while everyone else fought to get out of the park. Our first stop was Buzz. My husband and I were super competitive:

The boys were falling asleep!

You know, I just noticed that I got Galactic Hero, as did the other DS!! LOL

After this, my husband brought my son back to the room, as he was exhausted. The other parents brought their son back to BTMRR and I headed with the two girls to Space Mountain. Unfortunately (fortunately??) we got behind a Brazilian tour group, so there was a huge line when we expected no line. They were chanting and singing, and the CMs were getting very frustrated as the safety messages could not be heard. The girls thought it was awesome, and were excited to be there with the group. They chanted and sang along, and chatted with members of the tour. It was awesome! :) We finally got our ride!

I was wearing my Photopass card on a lanyard around my neck. As you can see from the picture, the card was missing during the ride! It was hard to believe, but it was on the floor of the ride vehicle! Given that I hadn't taken a picture of the card, it would have been a complete disaster to have lost it.

We headed out of the park, and met up with the other family, who had ridden BTMRR six times in the time for us to ride once (thanks, tour group!) We headed back to the YC, tired and happy. It was an amazing last night.

Last Last Day...

The next morning, the other family headed out early to go to a condo on Siesta Key. We were heading back to Toronto, since we had plans for my son to see his beloved Blue Jays on his birthday. Our flight was leaving later in the day, so we decided to head to Downtown Disney for the morning. Thank goodness I had spent that time packing - checking out was completely painless. We didn't want to waste any time, so we hopped in a cab to DTD.

This was my lovely mug on the last morning:

It looked like I had taken a highlighter to my black eye. LOL

First stop was our favourite spot...

Pic12.jpg

We did a ton of shopping, and I got my souvenir: a Dooney and Bourke Sketch backpack. I still use it all the time. :)

Sketch.jpg

We hit the Rainforest Cafe for lunch, which we all enjoyed. We had trouble using our Magic Bands, but we had our credit cards this time.

Pic13.jpg

After lunch we went to Disney Quest, where we had a terrible time getting in. They needed our cards, and couldn't accept our Magic Bands. It took us forever. Soon we were playing arcade games from the 80s, however.

Pic14.jpg

It was all over too soon, and we were on the Magical Depress heading for the airport. It was an amazing trip. If I had known that it would be four years until we would head back, we might not have been so happy!

Pic15.jpg

Thanks for sticking with me for the whole thing! A new one coming up in a month or so... :)
