Hello all,
Myself and my son will be visiting Orlando for the second time. Last was 4 years ago at Carribean Beach Resort. This trip I chose the Orange Lake Resort. It looks like it is close to the AKL, but I am not sure. Has anyone stayed at OL recently? How was it? How close to the main roads is it? and last but not least, how easy is it to get to WDW?

Thanks for any info:grouphug:

We are owners at OL...and go twice a year. OL backs up to the AK property...but you can't just "jump over the fence" :rotfl: But it is easy to get to...
When you leave OL...either from the main entrance or the other (they both go out on 192)
make a left on to 192...go down to the traffic light at Black Lake Road...(it's not very far, so be careful) and make a left onto Black Lake ....and just follow it down to Sherberth, (it'll be the stop sign where Black Lake dead ends)
make a left on to Sherberth....again..just follow it until you get to the traffic light. it kinds of winds around..make a right when you get to the light and you're on Dis property.
If you're going to AK....get into your left hand lane and you'll come up on to the entrance...(you'll have to make a left into AK).
If you're going onto another park or DDT....just follow the signs.

To get back to OL...just follow the signs to the AK and the AK Resort....as you come up to the entrance of AK...get in your left hand lane.
At the light make a left and you're back on Sherberth....as you see 192...there will be a road on your right...that's Black Lake.
Make a right...and follow it down to the light and turn right onto 192. Then just watch for OL on your right.
I love it....it's so easy...and I never ever have run into any problems.
The light on 192 outside of OL can sometimes seem to take a bit of time....but it's not bad. If you're trying to return to OL and it's "check-in" time on F,S, or Sunday (about 3 -4 or so)...you may have to wait a few minutes for the guard to check cars and take plate numbers.
You're going to love it there...we do. We,ve been going for almost 15 years! Have fun! Barb

We are also owners at OL and we love the convenience of having a whole villa for the week, and still being able to get back and forth from Disney easily. We have- since having had our children, even managed to come back for naps and an early dinner in the late afternoon and then headed back for the evening parades and fireworks. Ever since they added this "back" way into the Disney area- as opposed to going 192, it has been a real time saver. The previous poster's directions are spot on- I guarantee you will love it!

If you're a visual person, like me, enter the addresses on Mapquest to see how close it is to WDW. Mapquest won't give you the shortcut that the pp gave but we've done the shortcut (our TS is Summer Bay, down the road a little from OL) and it's so easy!! :thumbsup2
Just enter E. Orange Lake Blvd, Kissimmee, FL for starting address.
The shaded area of the map just east of OL is WDW property.

Thank you all for your information. I remember the first time we were there, my son and myself were trying to find my brothers hotel (he stayed somewhere off I-4 I think.) Anyway, at about 11Pm DS and I were just driving, lost, and it got very dark to the point it looked as if we were driving off the end of the earth. I'm from Los Angeles, 90% of all streets are lit up here so it was quite unnerving to say the least. I made a u-turn as soon as I could to get back the opposite direction, which happened to be the right way!
See u all at the World:banana:
