I once saw this tip somewhere, and I saved it to my computer. I'm not too good with directions (Ive gotten us lost more than once!!)... can this work for someone going from the NC/SC down 220 to FL?
Heres the tip:

For those driving south to WDW via the Florida Turnpike, you might be interested in Walt Disney World's Western Way, which allows you to shorten your drive and bypass the busy Interstate 4. Directions: As you drive south on I-75, take the Florida Turnpike, and you'll eventually approach a collection of several overpasses and exits. Look for and take 429 West Toll Road (Tampa) to exit the Turnpike. You'll find yourself on a quiet four-lane toll road and in approximately 14 miles, you'll take the Walt Disney World exit. This is Disney's Western Way and in just a few miles, you'll soon enter the WDW Resort area to the west of the Coronado Springs Resort onto Buena Vista Drive. Turning left will take you directly toward Downtown Disney and the rest of the WDW Resort.

I dont even know where FL Turnpike is. Is this an option at all? I despise I-4. The rest of the trip I enjoy somewhat.

IT all depends on where in the Carolina you are coming from. I think I 75 is only an option if you are coming from the mountains. You could catch it very close to Knoxville.

IF I-95 is closer to you than you will be coming from the east side of Florida, I-75 comes from the west.

I lived in Wilmington and found nothing quicker than I-74/76 to I-95, to I-4. Your right, I too don't care for I-4. It's a lot like I-40.

On my last trip we were driving down I-4 with the flow of traffic. We were going probably 80 and getting passed like we were sitting still. Suddenly we look up and see white smoke. When it clears theres a car smack dab in the middle of I-4 SIDEWAYS!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:    My wife slammed on the brakes and I (instinctively... didnt know I was even doing it) grabbed the steering wheel and proceeded to steer us through all the other cars that were slamming on brakes as well. There was smoke rolling off everyones tires, screeching noises everywhere, and I kinda saw the whole thing in a slow motion in my head. I steered this way and that and somehow, by the grace of God, we got through the whole thing without a scratch to us or the car. I looked back and I dont think ANYONE wrecked. It was a miracle.
I can still see the look of panic in the mexican guy's eyes who was driving the car as he didnt know whether to run from the car or stay in it. I bet he had to make a pit stop shortly afterwards!:rotfl2: Poor guy!
