From MK to MGM and vice versa?

What is the best way to hop between these parks? How long does it take to get from one to the other? We are staying onsite (ASmo) and will have a rental car but is it easier just to take WDW transportation between parks?

To hop between MK and MGM.
Take bus at MK TTC to MGM. At MGM take bus to MK TTC.

I would drive my car to MK parking lot (no chg for parking because you are staying on WDW property) And drive to MGM, when you are done at MK.

We're planning on a morning in MGM. Switching parks using the Wilderness Lodge (staying there 6 nights) instead of TTC. Then taking boat to MK for Crystal Palace, SpectroMagic and fireworks.

The standard way is to take the monorail to the TTC, then take the bus to MGM. Total time about 30 minutes.

Or you could take a bus from MK to any resort, then wait at that resort for the MGM bus to come by.
