We have an ADR for the BBQ in August. I have never been to FW, so I was wondering if it is possible to get to the sing a long in time to enjoy the smores and the movie. I know that the BBQ is at 6:30 and that the campfire is at 8 PM, but can you do both in one night without feeling as though you are dragging a little one from place to place without the time to enjoy either?

Well the distance between the 2 is not that great. I have never done the BBQ, but would imagine you could easily enjoy it, and then stroll up(or catch an Orange Bus) for the movie---- even if they had already started. It was always hard to get my kids to sit through the whole thing anyway; they just enjoyed being there and roasting something in the fire :)

Even if you should happen to miss the sing a long you can still catch some of the movie. You can still enjoy the camp fire. Just remember to pack your smores kit or atleast marshmellows & sticks. They do sell them in case you need one.

Thank you both. I think I may be trying to pack too much in, but both seem to be so much fun for a 4 year old and I can only go to FW the one evening. I know that there are always other trips, but my niece who is 21 is joining us and is the little one's hero. She was a camp councellor throughout high school and college, so she is a lot more fun than I am.

I have been to Mickey's Backyard Barbeque ... it is a lot of fun!! But just to let you know, it is not like any other character meal. The name is very fitting .... don't expect to be waited on, you get the food, drinks yourself and you sit at giant picnic tables with other families. When the characters and band come out the kids swarm the dance floor and it is bedlam!! And, I mean that in the BEST way!! My son (4 1/2 at the time) was up dancing with Minnie, Mickey, etc - I don't think he sat down the whole time the band was playing. There is a guy who does rope tricks who is fantastic!!

After that, I don't know if your child will have the energy to make it to the campfire!!! If he/she does you probably will miss the sing along part of the evening - but it would still be fun!!

I had heard that it was a lot of fun, and was prepared for "bedlam". My DD would have a breakdown at this kind of meal, so I the next best thing was me. Well, my niece is going to be with us, so I think I will survive, but I am not sure if Debbie will.

If we cannot get to the sing-a-long, do you know if it is year round or just in the warm months. We are going back in January, and I think the little one would have a blast.

Sing a long and campfire are year round, weather permitting. If it rains, the sing a long is held on the Meadows Trading Post porch, but there is no movie or campfire.
