From las vegas airport to strip

We usually just book a shuttle once we land, they are right outside of baggage claim. A Taxi is more expensive....and we actually like that the shuttle goes to 3-5 other hotels first....it is like a mini tour.

Thanks, I thought it would be easy but I am a bit of a compulsive planner.

I concur with Judy. We usually take a shuttle. If you are in a big hurry to get to your hotel, you might want to take a taxi. The shuttles usually wait to fill before beginning on your journey. Just a FYI.

Husker is correct, they usually have 3 vans they load at any given time....each going to a different section, when you van is full you take off, and hit each resort depending on your van companions. I think it is sort of fun.
going back I usually take a taxi, since sleep is precious, and taxis are quick.

How much for a taxi and shuttle?
thanks!

We usually pay $12 for a taxi ride from the airport to the MGM, Excalibur, Luxor area of the south strip. I have found if we are going on a weekend trip it is usually more cost effective & convenient to search the web for promo codes & rent a car. Not for everyone, but we like to go to several different casinos & buffets around the strip area :)

Shuttles are available all day and all night. It's very easy to find them: just walk out the door by the baggage claim, and they'll be there waiting for you. Shuttles to the Strip hotels are $6/person, but the Stratosphere is a little farther so you might pay a little more.

When you want to go back to the airport, the hotel can call a shuttle for you. If you take a shuttle to the hotel, they'll give you a business card and ask that you call their service for your return trip. 3-4 different companies run shuttles, and they don't want to take a chance on their competition getting your busines on the trip home.

The shuttles are slower than taxis (because the driver might stop at three different hotels to let people out before he gets to your hotel), but they're very dependable.

For company names and a for-sure price, google McCarren Airport, then check under ground transportation.

You might want to check rental car rates for your dates. You can sometimes gets cars as cheap as $12 a day. We rent a car every time - even if it stays in the parking garage the entire time we've found its cheaper than a taxi both ways and we always have the option if we need it.

We took a Ritz transportation shuttle. I think it was $6.50/person. It was about a 20 minute drive. I wouldn't bother renting a car...takes forever to drive anywhere with the traffic on the strip. Honestly I would pay a bit more to stay closer (I stayed at Sahara which is across the street from Stratosphere) and I ended up paying a lot in transportation (I used the monorail, taxis, and the bus at various times)

Next time I go I will spend a bit extra and get a room in one of the "main" hotels that is closer to everything there.

I hear what you are saying but I drive for work a million miles a week, it is just liberating not driving for 5 days!! We might think about it though, thanks

That's exactly why we now get a car everytime :thumbsup2 It ended up being cheaper than taxi's & the monorail. I usually book as soon as I we have our trip planned & then keep checking back frequently to get the lower rates. Both National & Alamo accept debit cards for payment while others require credit cards.
