From Europe to Africa in America - A Sisters' Expedition

I just booked Katharina's and my flight for our next trip to WDW! The original plan was to be there for my 40th birthday on November 6. But then work related issues did not work out for any dates around that time frame. So for the last two weeks we discussed alternatives and now we have them:

Katharina and I will fly on October 11 to Frankfurt (from Berlin and Nuremberg respectively) where we will meet to continue together on to Orlando to stay at the Boardwalk Villas until October 22 when we will return the same way to our home towns.

I just booked our (way too expensive) flight tickets! The DVC reservation had been changed for some time already. I still have the old one, need to cancel that now. We were very lucky to get a room at BWV during the Food and Wine Festival on such short notice. Luckily we were still within the 7 months window! But we don't have a Boardwalk View anymore, only a Preferred View. Only the last night is in a Boardwalk View at the moment. I still hope that via waitlist we will be able to stay in the same room for all nights!

Also, we are very sad that due to this change we will miss out on meeting Ellen, but I think there should be other DISers at WDW at that time (Tracy??).

We are planning to wrap this TR up pretty soon and then will start a new PTR! More info on the trip will come then!

That's awesome you have some firm dates for the trip!! I do hope that you will get into a View room with the waitlist, but just getting those tickets and the ressie taken care of is a huge step towards the trip being a reality!

Wow Magdalene, you captured some GREAT HS pics! I love empty it looked while you waited at the rope. I'm telling you, HS is quickly becoming one of my favorite parks!

How nice that the sun finally decided to make an appearance too!

You and Katharina also got some very sweet photopass pics! I never get good ones for some reason. These two are very nice!

Congratulations on the new WDW trip too!!! I'm really trying to get DH to book a mid-October trip but he's being difficult. Great job on getting a room at BWV!

I would not think that they would "hide" a place like that. I pilled up an allears map and it not even listed. Truly a hidden gem?

I don't really have too much to say about the fish at Narcoossee's. Other than... Bleh.

If I order a steak, I don't want to see the rest of the cow. Same goes for the fish.

Your photos from DHS are terrific! I love seeing the park empty and in beautiful light.

Sorry for updating so fast! I just need to make up time... I want to start the new PTR!

Katharina and I thought that the fish at Narcoossee's would get some strong reactions... I have never seen it personally, but sometimes suckling pig is served in a way that you can see the whole pig... Not so sure about it. Oh, and at Hampton Court Palace in London they had an exhibition of Tudor food and then they served roasted Swan - which was decorated with all its feathers so it would look like a live Swan sitting on the dinner table...

I think we were very spoiled on that trip with all the empty parks. Will have to see how this is going to work out on the next trip.

It makes a trip so much more real when you have tickets booked. The flight is the most unflexible thing of the whole vacation. So once this is done, it is kind of set in stone.

I was so nervous yesterday when I booked our tickets! They had to be booked seperately because we start out from different cities. And I would afraid that once I booked one the other one would no longer be available or that we would not get seats next to each other! But everything worked out ok.

I was thinking about arriving a few days earlier than Katharina, but in the end, she was able to come along for a few days more than we originally thought and it is so much nicer to be on that 10 hour flight together. And we will be able to share the excitement of arriving at Disney!

DHS was the first WDW park I fell in love with (on my second trip that was AK). It has so many beautiful areas. It also has some flaws and I can see why some people don't enjoy it so much. But for me it is just wonderful. This morning I spoke to Katharina and one thing we are really excited for our next trip is being able to WALK to DHS!

I think we got so many good PP photos because we did has 9 days in the parks and took many opportunities. I also asked a few times for special shots, because I think those are the ones which are worth the money. Thanks for the compliments on our pictures!

Yes, for some reason it isn't on the current DHS maps... When I tried to find a good way to explain where it is, I looked at some maps at studioscentral.com and on the very old ones, it is noted. I just did not want to post that old map since it is very cofusing (still has the old long Backlot Tour which I never got to see). They have a great map archive, this is the one I was talking about: MGM-Studios Map from 2000

Yeah, I'm not seeing any legal symbols with blindfolds and scales in the room where that Committee hands down their verdicts. I'm pretty sure the blindfold is there at times, but somebody obviously bent the scales......

DHS layout is somewhat confusing. It took me a few trips until I finally knew my way around. I am happy that my TR has been so instructive for you!

Getting caught up. Your mk afternoon looked like a lot of fun....so did your dhs day. We had a fun experience with one of the streetsmosphere people one year. It was the old hollywood diva....she was playing up todannys video camera....put on quite show. Only to find out Danny double bumped the button and didn't record any of it!

Great news on the booked flights!! And even better news on your changed dates!!! My dates are the 15th-22nd so I am so excited to be able to meet you both!! I have been looking at fights too...I like to have it all booked and handled but I haven't committed to any airline yet!

I am calling this Tuesday to see about changing resorts. I am currently at Kidani which of course I adore. Would love BWV or BCV but those may not be likely during F&W although I may try those first. If either of them do not work then I shall try BLT.

Your next trip is so very close!! You both must be so excited!!
