From Europe to Africa in America - A Sisters' Expedition

Haha! So crazy-- glad you got more sleep. Hopefully you weren't too groggy in the morning!

I finally got caught up. I've been sick and out of commisson for a few days.

I love all the updates so far. I had to laugh at the comment about the slowness. New Yorkers are always in a mad rush, and since I've been working there I've really become the same way. I get impatient really quickly.:rotfl:

How's your day going?? Hopefully, you've been having a good one! :goodvibes

Crissy, sorry to hear you've been not feeling well. Hope things are turning around for you.

Thanks. I'm begining to feel like I've been sick forever. I've been on and off since Thanksgiving. It's bronchitis again this time. I just want it to leave my lungs so I can get a proper night of sleep. I'm sick of being up all night coughing.

Poor you! It really seems like you have been sick since just before your trip! I hope you will recovers fully now that spring has arrived!! :goodvibes

Thanks. I'm hoping it eases up soon. Coughing all night long is getting old quick. I need some sleep!

A few years ago I was diagnosed with asthma (when it got so bad that I couldn't say more than 2 words without having a coughing fit). It's a really mild case, as I've never been put on any kind of medication for it. I know that when this cough started a few weeks ago it was the bronchitis, but now that it's lingering I'm not so sure if it's the asthma kicking up or not. Since that first diagnosis I've been very prone to lung issues. Any little cold for me always morphs into a lung problem.

I know I need to get to the doctor yet again, I just haven't had the money or time to squeeze in a visit.

I think Kid might really be on to something. My asthma first came up during spring because it was allergy related. So if you have any allergy issues, this might be really the case. So better get yourself to the doctor asap!! I know how much you hate it, but you don't want to end up in the ER with a real asthma attac!

I have the problem with bronchitis follows every cold as well and I found out that it really helps me to inhale hot steam in the morning and the evening and when I am at home even a third time mid-day. When I start doing this as soon as the cold comes, I can normaly prevent the bronchitis!! :goodvibes

I am sending lots of pixie dust to make you feel better soon! pixiedust:

Katharina will have to tell you about deveined or not shrimps. I don't eat those... :scared:

I have no idea - how do you find out? They were without head and only white inside... does that help? :confused3

Oh, this is difficult... These two really are my two favourite restaurants in WDW. I think for us this trip FF was better than CG (and that's true for 2009 as well). CG has a bit more the air of: we know that we are very special, while FF for us felt more like the restaurant I could imagine to become my standard "celebration" restaurant for birthdays and such if I lived in Orlando. I personally don't think that the fireworks from CG are such a great thing. Wishes is much better from Main Street. And watching Wishes out on the balcony of the CG alone surrounded by couples and families might make you feel a bit lonely... So I would say go with the restaurant where the menu appeals more to you, in the end you go there to eat! :goodvibes
Katharina, what do you think?

I preferred FF on our trip. But maybe I was still suffering from jet lag and that’s why I didn’t enjoy it as much... After everything I had read here on the Disboards, I don’t know what I expected from CG, but I was a little bit disappointed. I still enjoyed it there, but something was missing. But our dinner at FF was great, I would love to dine there again soon!!! :thumbsup2

You poor things! That is so funny! There's nothing worse than not getting enough sleep. Too bad you had taken a shower and everything.

I agree with you, sometimes the hotel clocks can be a pain. I usually try to set them for the time I want to get up, and set my cell phone alarm about ten minutes later as a backup in case I didn't set the hotel clock correctly.

This first night I just couldn't be bothered to follow the instructions on the phone. But we used the alarm via the phone then all other mornings. But I sometimes set it more than once, because the sound quality was sometimes so bad, I wasn't sure what time they confirmed for the alarm.

Oh my goodness - that's a little funny. It's almost like you got an extra "day" out of your trip! Hopefully you went back to bed and got another good 6 hours in.

I was afraid I couldn't go back to sleep - but it turned out that was no problem at all!

I might have to try the steam trick. I actually got a couple of hours of sleep last night, so for the moment I'm feeling better.

OMG ladies - I'm sorry, but that was a hilarious story about the alarms. :lmao: Something I would totally do myself. :goodvibes

Sorry you haven't been feeling well - I had something very similar a couple of years ago..I was sick for about three months with only a day or two a week of being even able to work. It was not fun. Once May rolled around I finally got better, so here's hoping you do as well!

Hi Magdelena and Katharina!!!!

First, welcome back to Berlin! I hope work wasnt' too frightening when you got to the office!

Secondly! Well, ha! I'm just saying hi, because I miss you, and was thinking about you since I got the package you sent! :thumbsup2

All caught up. Too funny about the alarm. :lmao:

I was actually up one morning at 3am and decided to do laundry. (I have issues with sleeping) AKL is so peaceful that early in the morning and I had the DVC laundry room all to myself.:lmao:

Hello!:wave2:

I came over at Liesa's suggestion - love the story about the time change snafu! Oh, and Katharina, I noticed in the start of the dining review you mentioned that alcohol makes your nose stuffy - me too! Its been getting worse over the years to the point now that I will not take a drink unless I've taken a benadryl first. Do you also get flushed? I'd finally had enough and I started researching the issue. I think it is something called "Asian Flushing Syndrome," which causes all these symptoms and is due to a lack of a certain enzyme which helps to metabolize the alcohol. Anyway, just a bit of trivia for you.

It was pretty funny in hindsight. I am sure it will be one of those stories that we will still tell in many years, like the one with the "steam toast" in the hotel in Greece!

Hi Liesa, I am so sorry that it took me more than a month to reply to your lovely message!!

AKL really is wonderful in the early morning. Most of the days we got up pretty early for rope drop and I really loved the rather empty Mara and such. In previous years I even went for early morning swims in the pool, but this time the pool was under rennovation, so that wouldn't have been possible. Also the weather was so cold...
