Hi all! My name is Gina, and Im a senior at Rochester Institute of Technology. On May 23, I will be walking the stage and graduating with a Bachelors in Business Administration. On May 29, less than a week after graduation, I will be traveling to Disney World. To be honest with you, Im not sure which Im excited for most, graduating college or going to Disney World! Right after the vacation, I will be starting an internship with a major corporation as a Marketing Intern, so this vacation is to celebrate my graduation, and to celebrate my freedom before entering the corporate business world.
A Little Bit About Me
This will be my third consecutive year going to Disney World with my girlfriend, K. We will be at Disney from May 29-June 8. For those of you who do not know, Disney Gay Days runs from June 3-9 (and is normally the first weekend of June every year).
K is on the left and I am on the right. This is in Pleasure Island in 2013.
The past two vacations to Disney have really turned me into a Disney addict. My girlfriend and I save like crazy to fund our vacation, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Last month, I was even approved for my first credit card... it just so happens to be the Chase Disney Rewards Visa! I plan on utilizing the perks of having a Disney Rewards credit card such as geting 10% off $50 purchases at Disney World and a free photo and Meet & Greet with characters.
The things I am most looking forward to about this trip is the first ever Harambe Nights, the midnight premiere of Maleficent, riding the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and of course, the food! We actually extended our trip from June 7 to June 8 so that we could go to the very first Harambe Nights before we headed home to Rochester. It should be a fun time!
I have previously been to Disney World five times.
As you can see, my girlfriend and I are huge fans of Coronado Springs Resort. We feel very strongly about staying somewhere with updated rooms, and CSR doesnt skimp as a quality Moderate resort. We are two college students on a budget, and were willing to pay that extra amount of money to experience a somewhat lavish vacation over a Value resort. We LOVE Coronado's updated rooms with dark wood and teal accenting. We also enjoy the beautiful scenery and beach with hammocks. People complain about Coronado's large and extensive grounds, but there are four bus stops that are close to every room location- if you want to get somewhere quickly you can just take a shuttle around the resort.
This year is going to be much different from the last two years. This is because we are staying for 10 days/9 nights compared to the previous 7 days/6 nights in the past few years. We have also turned 21 years old during the year, which means we can finally purchase alcoholic beverages, and drink around the world in Epcot! Finally!
Dining
I love food. With that being said, we are on the Disney Dining Plan, and intend to dine at eleven restaurants during our stay in Disney. Some day in the future I'd love to get the Deluxe Dining Plan, but at this point, financially, we are unable to do so.
In 2012 and 2013, K and I have dined at:
This year, I wanted to switch up some of our restaurant choices. So for our 2014 trip, we will be eating at:
I plan on writing a Disney Dining Review on my restaurant and quick-service experiences for the 2014 vacation (with pictures!), you can check that out here.
Quick-Service
I have decided that I want to try some new quick-service options this year, because weve stuck with the same places in the past two years. I have been looking at lots of reviews online about what quick-services are the best, and I have narrowed down some of my top choices.
Alcohol
Since it is my first time that I can legally drink in Disney, I want to try everything! Im a picky person when it comes to liquor, and I cant have anything with tequila in it. Beer is also out of the question, as my girlfriend and I cant stand it! So, with those options crossed out, Ive been making a list of what alcoholic beverages look the best. Im still in the process of compiling this list, though.
Pin Trading
K is a huge pin fanatic. Her main collections are of Lion King and Stitch. I'm personally a big fan of Mulan and Pocahontas. She's gotten me somewhat interested in the pin-trading world, and we will definitely be scoping out CM's lanyards to find some new pins. My girlfriend and I are also looking forward to trying out Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom this year. Our last night last year we played for about 30 minutes before we had to leave, so this year we are super excited to pick up where we left off.
I will be posting reguarly, and providing our daily schedule plans in the near future. I'm curious to see what you guys have to say about our choices thus far, and I'd love to get some food and beverage recommendations!
As of right now, mydisneyexperience.com tells me that I have 20 days to go!
