From Chicago, I’m Signing Off

I know I haven’t been on the CB in awhile (though I’m spending more time here lately) but I wanted to put this out here, especially for my Chicago buddies.

Our move is FINALLY here. The packers and movers will be here Monday morning. As soon as they are finished and my mom and I finish cleaning, we’ll load up our bags and the cats and we’ll be on our way! (For those who don’t know, my husband is now in the army and we’re making our first military move. We’re stationed in Washington in the Seattle/Tacoma area.) I’m excited, nervous, scared, worried, sad, thrilled, anxious and eager.

I told Jim that by the time I get out there, I’m going to need either a stiff drink or a good massage…or both!! LOL I adore my mom. I adore my cats. I adore road trips. But combining all three might be too much!!

As I prepare to say good-bye to my home for the last four years, I can’t help but think of my dear Chicago DIS buddies. And how very grateful I am to have had them in my life. So a special thank you to each one of you. You’ve helped make my time in Chicago an amazing time. I’ll never again look at crowds in a food court and be annoyed with all the tables they are using. Each one of you, whether I met you once or you were a meet regular, are special to me. And I am SO glad to have had the opportunity to meet each of you, spend time with you, share Disney with you, and, most importantly, share laughs with you. So many times I’d come home from a meet, my sides aching from all the laughing and my cheeks hurting from all the smiles. LOL Four years ago I never imagined it possible to feel this way about a group of people I met on the internet. Today I can’t imagine having ever thought that way.

And to Jeff & Gael, I look forward to taking a piece of Chicago with me when I share my lime-green DIS goodies with other DISers. I have those things safely packed away.

Keep me in your thoughts, if you would, next week for save travels and NO snow along the way!!

I am so sad to see this day come, though I knew for a while it was coming. I am so glad that our paths crossed at my first DIS meet, the meet at Rainforest Cafe back in 2000. You truly are a laughing machine, especially when the Chicago DISers get together. From blue tongues and broken fingers from making cookies, you are one of a kind, and you will be missed. I think you know that when you get back to Chicago, you better let us know, so we can have a meet, even if it is only for a quick meal.

Take care, and although you will find new friends out there, don't forget about all of the friends here.
