Frogmommy's "Time for a change" thread - comments welcome

Heather -- Your food choices have been very good, considering how much temptation you have been exposed to! Congratulations! :cheer2: Besides everything else, forgoing an elephant ear and eating a WW dessert showed great willpower.

Have a great day!

You did awesome at the fair! Not a single deep-fried treat, way to go! :cheer2:

What kind of bran muffins are you eating? Do you make them or buy them? I :lovestruc bran muffins...

You are doing great, keep it up! :cool1:

Way to go at the fair!!! That is great that you reisisted all the fried foods. You should be very proud of yourself.

Keep up the good work. You are doing a great job

Ty everyone. :) Even DH was impressed. He said "wow, you really are going to do it this time."

Um, I think I forgot to mention the 3 fried mushrooms. OOPS. :rolleyes1

I make the bran muffins. The official name is cranberry cinnamon bran muffins. I got the recipe from the GI cookbook (I think it's called Living the GI diet, or something like that). I use unsweetned applesauce instead of oil and usually use egg beaters instead of real eggs. The recipe calls for skim milk, but I don't keep that in the house - I don't drink milk so I cook with what my DS drinks, which is 1%.

Today has been good. I had:

Go lean w/peaches - 2 pts
SALAD! with ham, AL, and 1/2 pear- 2 1/2 pts
Organic lentil and carrot soup - 1 pt
muffin - 1 pt
2 wasa lite rye crackers - 1 pt
chicken fajita - ??
on low carb wrap - 1 pt
with 2% shredded cheddar cheese - 2 pts (need to go back and check this)
sugar smart choc. ice cream - 4 pts
64+ oz of water

So I'm under today. I can't imagine that the fajita would have many points. I used chicken breast with fresh lime juice and seasonings. I put green, yellow, and red peppers in the fajitas with red onions. Tasty and nice to look at, too.

I also did 30 - 35 minutes of lower body strength training. I added a sequence to better address my inner thighs.

I have noticed something that worries me a little. Every time I do the BFL cardio I have a really hard time falling asleep at night. It doesn't seem to matter what time of day I work out. I really like their cardio routine and I would hate to have to go to something else. But I also need to sleep!! I need to look into it more.

I feel like a slacker for not checking in on other journals, but I really need to get to bed. I will have more time tomorrow.

Those muffins sound yummy! Maybe one of these days I can get the recipe from you? You can PM it to me if you so desire. :)

If you do the cardio in the morning you are STILL staying awake at night? I can see if you are doing it in the late afternoon or evening. Are you getting enough of a cooldown? :confused3

Your food choices look really good. I love fajitas! Living in AZ you'd think I eat them all the time, but I really don't...

Keep up all your great work! :cheer2:

Hi!

Ty Jamie, you are always so supportive to everyone. :flower3:

Amy, I thought the recipe might be posted online somewhere, but it's not :(. I will copy it at some point, but it might not be for a few weeks. This month is crazy.

Yeah, the sleep thing is troubling, but probably not unusual for me if I think about it. I have had sleep issues in the past. I can't have caffene after a certain hour, but that's not an issue right now. I guess I need to try harder to get my workouts in before the kids wake up in the am - but it is SOO hard with my DD. Most of my workouts are in the afternoon during naps. My sleeplessness on days I worked out in the am could have been due to something else I guess. :confused3

Today has been good. I ate:

Go lean (No Peach!!!) - 1 pt
another salad with ham, AL, and 1/2 pear - 2 1/2pts
more lovely organic lentil soup with carrots - 1 pt
Sprouted wheat bread with lt cream cheese and olives - 3 pts
4 reduced fat wheat thins - .75 (a serving of 12 is 3 pts)
3 oz eye of round steak - 4 pts
brocoli - 0
1/2 red potato - 1 pt
sugarsmart choc ice cream - 4 pts
2 oreos - 2 pts
64 oz water

20 minutes of cardio. Hopefully I'll sleep tonight. Tomorrow is a busy day.

I can't believe I'm posting this before 11:30 pm. I will have to go look at some other journals. :)

Looks like you're doing great with the workouts. BFL seems to really work for you! I know that when I used to workout at night I could never get to sleep either so I usually try for morning or early afternoon. Since its such a good program & you enjoy it I hope you can stick with it. I'm no one to talk though - I keep waking up at midnight & then can't get to sleep until I've had a midnight snack! And then I fall back to sleep like a baby! Sheesh! Your doing great with your food and workouts! Congrats!

Hi Jane!

Ty. I really like BFL because of how manageable the workouts are. I figure I will probably have to ramp them up at some point, but that's ok. I can do it. I plan to stick with it for as long as I can.

Today was busy but decent. I didn't get my workout in until after dinner. Fortunately it was just upper body, so I'm not all hyped up now. I did just the 25 minute basic workout to save time.

I ate:
FF yogurt with about 1/2 serving Go Lean - 2 1/2 pts
most of a lt string cheese - 1 pt
hummus on pita - 3 pts
red seedless grapes - 1 pt
SW with lt CC and olives - 3 pts
1/2 slice no sugar added lemon pound cake - 1.5 pts
chicken fajita - ??
on low carb wrap - 1 pt
with 2% shredded cheddar cheese - 2 pts (still need to go back and check this)
sugar smart choc. ice cream - 4 pts
64+ oz of water

I am feeling so good about myself right now. I totally believe I can do this. In the past when I have tried to lose weight I did most of the same things - diet and exercise, but there was always that realistic person inside of me that couldn't see losing 60 pounds as really obtainable. Now I see by breaking it down and getting positive feedback how it really is obtainable. I'm going to do this. :cool1:

HI Heather,

Hey Jamie-

Ty. :) I hope you had a good day too.

I love Fridays. As much as I enjoy taking my kids to different activities, (and I do too, any excuse to get out of the house) it is so nice to have a day when we don't have to be anywhere. I used the day to relax. The next two days are going to be interesting. DH is going to NC overnight with the band for a contest. It will be just me and the kids until sometime on Sunday. I'll be batty by the time he gets back. (<-not far off).

This was today's menu:
Go Lean - 1 pt
WW pita and hummus-3 pts
1/2 small apple - 1/2 pt
1 oreo - 1 pt
2 Wasa lite rye crackers - 1 pt
3 oz eye of round steak - 4 pts
brocoli - 0
1/2 red potato - 1 pt
sugarsmart choc ice cream - 4 pts
64+ oz of water

Wow, that's not a lot. Strangely I haven't been hungry much. It will probably hit me tomorrow.

Did my 20 minutes of cardio. Seemed hard at the time, but I can hardly remember doing it now. My last cardio was Wednesday at around 4:00. I was worried about sleeping that night, but surprisingly it wasn't as issue. I slept until DH woke up crying (she's teething). Once she was settled I went back to sleep and had a dream I was doing yoga. Weird.

Great work! You're doing so well with moderation. I struggle with that. I could never eat just one oreo LOL!!
Sounds like you're enjoying your workouts.

You're doing so well! Hang in there this weekend, sounds like it might be tough with your DH gone.

Keep up the good work! :sunny:

Hi, Heather! I hope you are doing okay this weekend without DH! WOW, an overnight! Our bandies and guardies would LOVE that! I'd have a nervous breakdown!

You are doing such an amazing job with your exercise and great food choices! Keep up the great work! :cheer2: You should be really, really proud of yourself! :cloud9:

Enjoy your weekend, kiddo! Be sure to spend some quality time on yourself once everyone else is in bed.

Hi everyone-

Jane- You know, when I bought the oreos I thought to myself that it could be a very bad thing. But I bought them for my DS's lunches when he goes to preschool (2x/week), so that's why I don't eat a bunch. He shared one with me yesterday, so I figured it was ok. ;)

Hi Sun Florida Disney! Thanks for dropping in. I'm making it.

Hey Cam. :) It's been a long day, but I am hanging in there. DH just called me. They are on the way to a local high school where they will sleep on the gym floor. UGH. DH wanted us to come (we would have stayed in a hotel room) but there was just no way. They left here at 6:00am or some crazy hour. I think their first performance was around 1:00. They made finals and so had another performance (not sure when). And they are just now headed back from the stadium. Can you see me dragging DS4 and DD16mths through all that? Uh UH.

So, my day sorta began at 4:30 or whenever DHs alarm went off. UGH. I tried to go back to sleep but it just wasn't working for me. Finally DH left and I thought I could rest. About 10 minutes later the band booster president called. That man gets on my nerves. Anyway, so then I was awake AND hungry. I got up and ate one of DHs krave bars. Not a great way to start off the day (well, it would be if I had it for breakfast and not a pre-morning snack). Finally I went back to sleep until DD woke up crying when the sun came out. I'm a bit tired.

Had to go grocery shopping today. We were running late, so lunch was at chickfila. My thinking was that the kids could eat in the car and go directly to napping when we got home. I got another grilled chicken sandwich but only ate half of it. I realized I wasn't hungry and didn't need it. I don't know all the point values for what I ate today so I'll have to go back and fill it in. Still think it was a pretty good day. I'm just shy of 64 oz, but I'll fix that shortly.

Didn't workout today. I got busy during the kids' naps. Was going to do it tonight after they went to bed, but then I was waiting for DH to call... Anyway, not a big deal. Tomorrow is my free day, so I'll do it tomorrow instead.

I weigh in tomorrow. I think I've lost another lb or two, but we'll see.

Krave bar - 3 pts (or 4?)
Go lean - 1 pt
1/2 grilled chicken sandwich from chickfila - I think around 3 pts
1 peanut butter cracker - 1?
2 animal crackers - 1?
2 wasa lite rye crackers - 1
LC french bread pepperoni pizza - 6?
I may go get some ice cream before I go to bed. If I do, that's another 4

Well, I weighed in today.....

Lost another 3 lbs!!! :cool1: Very happy about that. :flower:

Now then, I had a good "diet day" today up until the very end. Not sure if I blew it or not. DH got home from the contest and decided he didn't want what I planned for dinner. We decided to get seafood instead. Which means hushpuppies. I ate 6 of them (oh, but they were gooooooooood). Hopefully I'll be OK since I really didn't each a whole lot the rest of the day.

This is what I had:

Go Lean w/peach - 2 pts
slice sugar free lemon pound cake - 3 pts
other half of grilled chicken sandwich from chickfila - 3?
small salad with vinegar - 0
grilled shrimp - ? not sure
bud lite - 2 pts
6 small hushpuppies - ???
64+ oz water

Did yesterday's lower body workout, took about 30 minutes.

Other than that, nothing much going on. We are all glad to have DH home. :)

Heather-- Congrats on the 3 pounds! Keep up the great work!

Have a great day! :sunny:

Woohoo!!!!! :cool1:  :cheer2: Congrats on the loss, that is awesome!

I made some bran muffins this weekend. How do you keep from eating half the batch in one sitting? Portion control is my #1 problem right now...

You are doing great, keep it up! :flower:

Congrats on the weightloss!!!!  You're doing great - especially for the weekends!

Thanks everyone!

Amy - I think the main reason I don't gobble all the muffins in one sitting is that I don't want to have to make more. As a matter of fact, I need to make some now, but I'll bet it will be Wednesday before I get to it.

I woke up feeling so bloated today. I'm not really sure why, I feel like I just got through with TOTM, so I don't think I'm PMSing already. Can't figure out what else it would be though, unless maybe I need to drink extra water if I'm going to have a beer. :confused3

Anyhow, fairly decent day here today. I've been bidding for xmas presents on ebay, and losing. LOL, I refuse to get caught up in some bid war where people ending up paying more with S&H added on then if they just went to a store. That makes no sense to me. Anyhoo...

Talked with Dad the other day. He and his wife moved to Fla a year or so ago, so we hardly see him. He said he may try to join us for the Disney trip. Not sure I believe he will actually show up, but it would be nice.

Today was ok diet wise. I made a Greek Chicken dish from one of my old cooking light cookbooks. It was really good. It ended up being 5 points though. The orzo I served with it was another 4. I shared some of dinner with DD, but probably only around a points worth.

This is what I ate today:

Go Lean - 1 pt
hummus on WW pita - 3 pts
SWB with lt CC and olives - 3 pts
greek chicken - 5 pts
orzo - 4 pts
green beans - 0
sugar smart ice cream - 4 pts
1 wasa lite rye cracker - .5 pts
64 oz water

Plus I think I may get some green tea and grapes before bed.

Got in my 20 minutes of cardio. :)
