Frogmommy's "Time for a change" thread - comments welcome

Hi-

Amy you are definetely right about the eating. I am snacking way too much. Lot's of stress eating I guess. UGH

Hi Jamie, ty for your well wishes. I keep telling myself that something will happen eventually with the job. Part of the problem is that teachers have until March or April to sign their letters of intent or transfer. UGH!!!

Some of the other stress in my life should be easing off. I'm almost finished with my class. I have some volunteer stuff on my plate, but I'll be wrapping that up soon too. Just in time to start obsessing about our upcoming trip to WDW. I'm starting to get the Disney crazies - y'all know what I'm talking about. :rotfl:

Mom had a quick stay in the hospital last night. She went to see my DGM over the weekend and came home with pnemonia. Her dr sent her to the ER because she had been sustaining a heart rate of 165 bpm. They finally admitted her to the heart hospital so she could be monitored, but didn't treat her heart - just the pnemonia. They sent her home today after 1 night, so I'm thinking she will be ok.

DH is going away tomorrow night for a few days. He's the guest conductor for a region all-state band. It's his first time doing it and he's a little nervous. I just think it's super cool that he was asked.

I'm all hyped up from bidding on ebay - got in 3 bidding wars and won them all. Not sure that's a good thing. I'm going to try to calm down and head for bed.

I hope your mom is feeling better soon. I know what you mean about the Disney craze. My cruise is 2 weeks away and I can hardly function!

I bet if you get your stress eating under control, you will see results right away. Reread your BFL for Women book to get some extra inspiration!

hi all-

No new weight loss to report for the week. But, I'm through with all the stuff that was causing me some stress. I feel like I can and need to start focusing my energy back on me now. To that end my goals for this month are to post here more often, including reading other journals, and to start recording my food once again. I've fallen back into my bad snacking habits and I need to stop it. It's silly to work out as hard as I have been only to sabotage myself by eating stuff I don't even really want.

My other major goal is to no longer be clinically obese by the time we go to Disney. That means I need to get down to 169 by April 8. It will be work, but it's certainly doable.

Mom is doing much better now. She actually wanted to go out for lunch yesterday, so we took her. Unfortunately DD has come down with some yucky stomach thing. The nurse told us that the bug could last 3-5 days and is HIGHLY contageous. bleh. Poor DD. We've been lucky up to now, she's never been sick outside of a typical cold.

Amy I think you are right about the stress eating. I know I can get it back under control.

Sounds like you have the right attitude to get back on track. That is a great goal to have. I think if you stop the snacking (which I know is hard, I am also a "recovering" mindless snacker) and keep up with your workouts, you will reach that goal! :cheer2:

I am new to all of this and would like to know about all of the challenges. What are they? Can I participate? Ten years ago I was 205 pounds and lost 60 in 9 months. Life happened and in the past 3 years I have gained 50 of it back. I know what to do to take the weight off and January 1st I started working on it. I could really use the support that you guys seem to have for one another. How nice it would be to have the support :grouphug: of possitive Disney people.

Froggymommy, I know you can do it. :cheer2:

Hugs to your DD I hope she feels better really soon!

Hiiii

So, here we are on day 1 of my no snacking goal. I think I've done ok. Here's what I've eaten:

Go Lean - 1 pt
Ham sandwhich - 3 pts
about 10 red grapes - <1pt
1 chocolate kiss - 1pt
Kashi bar - 2
1/2 serving baked lays - 1 pt
beef & onions over rice - 7 pts
reduced fat string cheese - 1 pt
WW desert - 2 pts

Looks good, and well under my goal of 24 -25 pts. And there is snacking as you can see, but it's moderate and controled. I can live with that.

BTW, anybody catch today's Cathy? It is SO me. Cathy (look for today's date, Feb 27).

Ty Amy, I think you're right. I'm psyched about it.

Ty Beth, DD is doing better today though she's still sick. We are going to take it easy for the next few days.

Hi poppins-penguin!!! Welcome to WISH! If you look on the main WISH page you will see various challenge threads. Some are for exersize, some are for lbs lost, and there are others for no cheating or whatever goal people are working on. All you have to do is post on the thread with your personal challenge (ex, my challenge for Feb is to work out 700 minutes total, but you could chose more or less - whatever you want to set your goal for). I have found joining the challenges and posting on my journal to be very motivating. And you are right, the people here are very supportive. You can do this too! I look forward to seeing you around!!

OK, I have a headache for some reason. I'm going to look around a bit and then head for bed.

Your food was EXCELLENT yesterday! Great job! :cheer2:

You planned out your snacks, which is exactly what you are supposed to do!

Keep it up, those lbs will be flying off in no time! :cool1:

Hi-

So when I got on the scale this morning it said 174 - just in time to record a loss for February. I'm not making it official until Sunday though, so that's why no change on the ticker. Who knows where I'll be by then.

Last night DH and I started feeling really icky, and I've been feeling that way off and on all day. I rest for a little while, then feel better and decide to clean, followed by more icky feelings. I'm ok right now. I skipped the workout today - not sure if I will tomorrow. If I do workout it may just be a walk or something. My eating today wasn't terrible, but could have been better. I wound up going to Sonic since there really wasn't anything in the house. On the plus side DD is feeling well enough to eat a little now.

So today I ate-
Go lean - 1
1/2 serving of chips - 1
burrito with ff beans & reduced fat cheese - 6 (don't ask me why I ate it, I guess Mexican is like comfort food to me)
String Cheese - 1
Kashi bar - 2
pretzels - 2
grilled chicken wrap - ? Cant remember if it's 9 or 11
*sigh* about 10 fries - 2?
WW desert - 2

So, over on pts. It could have been worse. I really wanted fried chicken and mashed potatos instead of Sonic. Talk about comfort food!

Hey Amy- yeah yesterday was good. I need to have more good days like that this week then so-so ones like today.

Like the BFL for Women book says - as long as you are eating right 80% of the time, you are making progress! You made the best choices you could, considering you had fast food.

You can get back on track and have a great food day today!

Hope you are feeling better soon. pixiedust:

Hi-

More yuckiness today. Just when I think we are all doing better it becomes painfully clear that we are not!

No big workout today, though I did get some walking in.

Ok so, this is what I ate:
go lean 1
grilled chickfila sandwich with fruit ?
granola bar 2
string cheese 1
2 mickey mouse cookies 1
leftover beef and onions, but over toast instead of rice 5
WW desert 2
wine - 2
baked lays - 2
FF yogurt - 2

Hey Amy- yep, I have figured out where I need to go if I'm eating fast food. I've got it down to a science. There are times when cooking just isn't in the cards, kwim?

Hopefully things will calm down a little tomorrow and I can be a little more structured. It would be nice to get back on track with the workouts too.

Hang in there, it will happen! It is amazing that it takes so long to get into the habit of regular exercise and so little to get out of it!

Hi-

So today has been a bit of a blur. Everyone in my family seems to have been touched by the ICK. DD got sick last night followed by DH. DS doesn't have any physical symptoms other than lack of appetite, but BOY has he been cranky! Even his preschool teachers commented on it, and usually he gets glowing reports. My symptoms have been minimal thankfully, so I'm hoping I'll be ok.
I'm trying to remember what I ate today...

kashi bar - 2
burrito - 6
2 oreos - 2
crackers - 2
the last of the beef and onions over toast - 5
WW eclair - 3
bud lite - 2

I guess that's it. I was going to have some plain popcorn but I left it in the microwave too long. Smoke was actually billowing from the microwave! That takes talent.

Amy you are right about getting out of the habit. I promised myself that I would workout today if I felt at all ok. I ended up doing 45 minutes of upper and lower body strength training. I was a little worried about it, but so far so good.

Hope everyone is feeling better! good for you keeping up with your workouts. :thumbsup2

Hi Heather,

So sorry to hear that everyone is feeling a bit under the weather. Hope everyone is back to good soon!

Hope you are having a wonderful day! Keep it up! You are doing great!

Great job getting that workout in even though you weren't feeling 100%.

I hope everyone gets better soon!

Thanks Amy, Kate, and Jamie!

Things do seem a little better today. DDs appetite is normal and DS is getting there. DH went to the dr, but they didn't find anything out of the ordinary - just stomach bug. I don't know how I've managed not to be affected more than I have, but I'm not complaining.

Pretty good day today. I got my 1st cardio workout in since Monay. DH was feeling better tonight and wanted to get out of the house, so we went to a new Mediteranian place. I ate a bunch of hummus and a salad with lemon juice. Lots of olive oil on both I'm afraid - but at least it's a good fat. I also ordered a grilled chicken sandwich that came on a thin flatbread, but I don't think I ate half of it. I filled up on the other stuff. The rest of my food intake was good today. I had:
Go Lean - 1 pt
Ham Sandwich - 3 pts
1/2 pear - 1/2 pt
kashi bar - 2
WW desert - 2
and about 3-4 pts worth of goldfish

Not sure how many pts dinner would be worth, but I had 9 or so to play with.

Have a good weekend!

Mmmmm, hummus! I just bought a big tub from Trader Joe's along with some wheat pita bread. I love that stuff!

Great job getting back into your workouts, I'm glad things are getting back to normal around the house!

Have a great weekend!! I hope everyone is feeling topnotch soon!

Hi Amy and Beth! I hope you are both having a great weekend!

So I spent the day cleaning my kids' closets - sorting through the clothes that I'm giving away and keeping. It was kind of sad. DH and I also talked about what to do with the glider that's currently in DDs room. I want to keep it in our room as a nice place to read, DH wants to get rid of it. I can't do it. It was hard for me to pack all those items from the kids babyhood away. DD will be 2 in May. I would not go back in time if I had a chance because I am thoroughly enjoying the kids at the ages they are now, but a BIG part of me misses having a little baby in the house. I'm almost 37 and really beyond wanting to deal with the loss of sleep and other stuff that comes with having a tiny one . . . at least this is what I'm telling myself. If I were younger and a little more financialy well off I'd get pregnant again. But I'm not. AH well.

I didn't snack at all today. It wasn't by design, but it worked out since I ate big meals for lunch and dinner. I had my same breakfast, finished the chicken wrap from last night for lunch, and had a small sirloin and big salad for dinner. I also had a 2 pt WW desert. No workout today, but that's ok. I can get it in tomorrow.
