hope you enjoy reading this, talk to you soon.

It's such a habit, even if I'm just going from one space to another in a parking lot - I buckle my belt!

The kids know the rules too. If Grandma & Grandpa get in and don't buckle, the kids are the first ones to say, "Momma doesn't move the car until EVERYBODY is buckled!":D

Thanks for sharing your story Froggy. It reassures me that strapping in is not in vain.

From the minute I found out I was pregnant with my first born, almost 13 years ago, I have worn a seatbelt every single time I've gotten in a car. And I have trained my 3 kids to do the same.

I have to be honest and say that I use to only wear them when I got on the freeway. However after reading your story two weeks ago I no longer leave the driveway without one on. I really apprerciate you taking the time to share with us. I for one have learned a lifesaving lesson. God's Blessings to you as you recover.

Oh, Froggy!!

I just read the whole account of the accident, and all I can think is that God truly did hold onto you that day.

I will hold you and your wife in my heart and in my prayers as you continue to work through the medical and financial challenges ahead.

I gotta say this, though- your positive and energetic optimism in the face of these trials is pretty amazing! Keep on smiling, Froggy. I look forward to the day when you can give us all a sassy wink. :D

 to you, Froggy. Thank God He was there with you that day.

I always make sure to wear my seatbelt...was always made to as a kid, just drilled into my head as an adult.

Thanks, Froggy. I bookmarked that to come back to today when I had a bit of time to read. An incredible story and journey, you had an angel with you that day.

Keep up the progress, hope the healing continues. And great about the smokes too, almost sounds supernatural, but great whatever.

Do you not have health insurance? Also, can't you collect, if she is proven wrong (which I can't imagine they won't) from her insurance, personal injury? How old a person is she?

Thanks for sharing, Froggy, and maybe you will save some lives through the sharing of your expereinces.

My best, continued prayers.

And yes, have been belted since '66, the car that first came with them. My '64 did not.

Dan

My sister (who lives in Little Rock) didn't learn her lesson about wearing seatbelts until she went through a windshield TWICE.

The first time she was hit from behind and really didn't go through the windshield but did hit it face first. The second accident was just awful.

She and her roommate (our sister in law's sister) were at a convention. They hopped in a van to make a 2 block trip back to their hotel. They were at their hotel waiting to turn in when a car came speeding towards them and hit them, pushing them into an embankment - very hard. My sister who was in the front passenger seat literally went face first into the windshield. She's had a lot of plastic surgery and will always have back problems but she is the lucky one.

Her roommate who was in the second row of seats was thrown out of the van and landed on her head. For the past 19 years she has been bed ridden, incontinent, fed by a feeding tube and has the mental capacity of maybe a 3 or 4 year old. She was a beautiful, kind and loving 23 year old college graduate at the time of the accident. She always wore her seat belt but didn't for a 2 minute drive.

35 years ago I didn't always wear my seat belt as a passenger. I was thrown out of a convertible and after a nice skid on the pavement in a bikini, I was lucky to only have concrete burns and a broken collarbone. Had I landed differently I could have been like my sister's roommate.

I had argued with my sister about this for years. She just thought seat belts were silly. She always wears hers now.

I think the moral here is to ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT EVEN IF IT'S FOR A 2 MINUTE DRIVE.

Froggy - You obviously still have your mind, faith and a great sense of humor. That obviously has helped you get this far, and I know you will continue to improve.

Hi Froggy,

I have been reading your posts ever since I started visiting the DisBoards. Always thought you were quite a funny guy, but had no idea what a story you had to tell. Can't say that I "enjoyed" it, but it certainly is an uplifting story and I hope that you are back on your feet soon. So glad you have a computer to keep in touch with the rest of the world.

I didn't always wear a seatbelt. When I was dating DH, he once said to me, "You have to wear a seatbelt! What if you go throught the windshield and cut off your face?" Not a very romantic thing to hear, but it sure made me think. I have not been without a seatbelt since, even if I am just going through a parking lot to get to a gas station. I just physically cannot do it.

Thank you for your story Froggy. You are one tough cookie!!
linda:hug:

Thanks for sharing your story, Froggy!

I always wondered what your signature line meant.

What a horrific accident! You certainly had an angel sitting on your shoulder that day. I do wear my seatbelt. DH started me on that habit while we were dating. The one time I did not wear it, I was rear ended and ended up going into the windshield. Luckily I only ended up with whiplash but it was enough to make me wear my seatbelt even if I am just moving the cars around in the driveway. I hope your recovery goes well and everything can be worked out for you and your family. Take care.

in reply to Dans ?s The girl is 31, her mother had the bare min policy allowed, that payed 25000 medical. According to all the lawyers , in arkansas you cannot sue ins company for anymore than the policy limits, sop thats out, you can sue the individual if they have any assests to sue for. She doesnt have any assetts It was even her moms car, she is a crack addict and doesnt even have an address, she gets her mail at her moms, she lives with any of 3 or 4 other known drug dealers and they cant stay put anywhere long. My only hope for recompense is that the prosecutor cant get criminal restitution in place, basically that will give me th e option of garnishing a ny wages she might have, and placing her responsible for the bills I am hoping to get re imbursed by the crime victoms board for some of the lost wages and income, we are trying to get into a fianacial aid program through university of mississippi, we are on medicaid and food stamps now, we have exhuasted all our savings, includingthe 3000 we had in bank earmarked for wdw trips so far dw has been able to work enoughto keep things afloat andthe bills payed but the last few weeks we been realy tight, with the weekly trips to jackson starting back up, a drs appointment means 8 hours on the road round trip, plus the time it takes at the hospital to see the drs we are ussually on the road from 7 am till after 6 at night, or longer. So we are hoping the stuff comes through. according to social security, as long as i have one ye i am not disabled, even though i have letters from 3 different surgeons that say i cannot work this getting long,, this will be page 2 on the site if i get time to start again,, dw says i cant type well nuff and she wants me to dictate it to her instead of me typing and her correcting..lol ok nuff for this post more to come

Read the entire thing earlier...you are one lucky person....I'm glad the Lord was looking out for you.....I hope things get better with your eye...

You definately experienced a miracle! God bless you during your recovery. :D
